CPU teams are a bit too quick to trade stars amongst themselves in NBA Live 10, something that needs to be scaled back a bit in NBA Elite 11.

Minnesota point guard Flynn emerging as surprise ROY front runner

Image

Minnesta's young guard was the only player to repeat in December's awards as he picked up the west rookie of the month for the second consecutive time, the award was well deserved as he has upped his production in december averaging an extra point and assist per game for the Wolves. The 6th overall pick out of syracuse is now the favourite to win rookie of the year honours despite not really being thought of as a candidate at the start of the season.

The December awards were as follows...

East POM - (CLE)Lebron James: 24.8 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.5 APG
East ROM - (CHI)Christian Eyenga: 6.6 PPG, 1.9 RPG
West POM - (PHX)Steve Nash: 22.4 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 7.3 APG
West ROM - (MIN)Jonny Flynn: 15.3 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 7.1 APG

(Woop eyenga ROM, not with the best numbers ive ever seen though :P)

Elsewhere Dwyane Wade still leads the league in scoring at 27.2 PPG, a massive 3.8 PPG ahead of Kobe Bryant the next top scorer, he looks a lock for the scoring title this season as well as having a great chance of his first MVP if he keeps it up.

I agree, on many of my dynastys Lebron has been involved in silly trades, once to the Bucks for Michael Redd and another time he and Mo williams were sent to Washington for Arenas.

Please check out my next news article it is a huge trade...

2 time MVP Tim Duncan traded by San Antonio

Image

After a career spanning over 12 years that included 4 titles, 2 MVP's and 12 All-Star appearances, the San Antonio Spurs have dealt their 1997 No 1 overall pick to the Charlotte Bobcats for Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw. With this news hot off the press it is unknown what the Spurs reasons were for the trade at this point. Experts are suggesting that it may be due to Duncans age that they have traded the 33 year old for two 27 year olds but Duncan was widely expected to be a one team man in San Antonio for his entire career, whats more he was still averaging a double double and not to mention he is the greatest power forward who has ever lived! It will be interesting to see the fallout from around the NBA (and forum posters ;)) in light of this huge transaction, watch this space! (sorry for the cliche of all cliches there :P)

The trade logic strikes yet again! That one's particularly odd given the Spurs' place in the standings.

Jonny Flynn is always in the running for RotY; he actually captured that award in my dynasty (eat it Tyreke!)

Wow  end of an era in San Antonio... those assholes. Duncan at 53 would still own those two in their prime :?

2009-2010 - Games 31-40 report..... Record : 24-16

In their best 10 game run of the season that included a 5 game win streak, the Bulls went 7-3 to take their record to 24-16, 5th best in the east, the 5 game win streak was particularly impressive as the most points scored against the Bulls during that 5 game period was just 66!, with the Bulls holding their opponents under 60 points 3 times! (Just to remind I am simming with 12 second quarters!) John Salmons was particulrly impressive scoring 20+ points in 5 of the 10 games and in doing so took over Derrick Rose as the Bulls scoring leader, in the game against the Celtics Ray Allen had another big night this time piling 36 points on the Bulls, Allen has certainly been causing some headaches for the Bulls defence so far this season.

Leaders after 40 games:

PPG: John Salmons - 15.6
RPG: Joakim Noah - 7.8
APG: Derrick Rose - 6.5
BPG: Brad Miller - 1.4
SPG: John Salmons and Kirk Hinrich - 1.2
FG%: Jannero Pargo - 52.8% (Gerald Green with 85.7% from 7 shots doesnt count)
3 PT%: Brad Miller - 43.0% (Gerald Green with 80% from 5 shots doesnt count)
FT%: Kirk Hinrich - 91.4%
Mins: Joakim Noah - 1155

Top performer through 40 games:

- John Salmons - MPG 26.1, PPG 15.6, RPG 3.4, APG 1.6, SPG 1.2, FG% 43.2, 3PT% 39.2 - Just edging ahead of Rose is John Salmons, he has taken over as the Bulls main scorer shooting just shy of 40% from beyond the arc whilst also taking the most attempts, in addition he contributes in other areas too pulling down over 3 boards per game and co-leading the team in steals, showing he can defend too.

Ok guys please give me any feedback you want on how you think it is going so far and what i could improve/add/remove please :)

Next up, an 11 game report which will lead us into the all star weekend which i will provide full coverage of, playing the roookie/sophmore game and all star game, i will control the east in all star games as I am the Bulls and will control whichever rook/soph team i have most (if any) representation in, i expect derrick rose to lead the sophomore team this year though.

There will be an ESPN news announcement when the All Star teams are announced.

PS. It may seem like I am whizzing through the games this season, this is only because I am simulating to get to the off season and free agency, future seasons will have more in-depth coverage.

PPS. As my Bulls are looking likely to make the playoffs I am considering controlling them to see how I can do and if i can possibly make inroads into the goals set out at the start by causing a shock, do you think this is a good idea??

2009-2010 - Games 41-51 report..... Record : 28-23

A disappointing 11 game stretch for the Bulls saw them go 4-7, meaning they drop to 7th spot in the east, notable performances included Jannero Pargo exploding for 29 off the bench in the loss to the Heat, where he was 5 for 9 from downtown.

Leaders going into all-star break (51 games):

PPG: John Salmons - 15.9
RPG: Joakim Noah - 7.7
APG: Derrick Rose - 6.2
BPG: Brad Miller and Joakim Noah - 1.4
SPG: Kirk Hinrich - 1.2
FG%: Jannero Pargo - 51.2% (Gerald Green with 70.0% from 20 shots doesnt count)

Mo Williams was selected as a starter for the East despite only having one previous all-star appearance as a replacement for Chris Bosh, Bosh himself being another surprise omission from the Eastern all-stars

Trade round-up

Since the Tim Duncan trade was reported there have been 4 more trades in the NBA each as intriguing as the last, ESPN news analyses the consequences of each for the team invloved...

Minnesota trades Von Wafer to Atlanta for Al Horford

-Atlanta gets another back-up guard they didnt really need and loses a key starter at the 4, Minnesota gets a quality power forward who will demote Kevin Love to the bench in exchange for their starting 2 guard who has an able replacement.

New Jersey trades Ben Wallace to Atlanta for Joe Smith

- Two veteran bigs traded, Atlanta are probably the winners here however

San Antonio trades Manu Ginobili to Indiana for Danny Granger and Jeff Foster

-San Antonio swaps an ageing but quality 2 guard for a young star, Indiana loses its franchise player and acquires a guy who will only produce for a few more years.

Miami trades Michael Beasley and Udonis Haslem to Cleveland for Zydrunas Ilgauskas

- Miami gives up it's two starting forwards for a big man who will retire soon, must have an eye on free agency with this trade.

2010 Rookie Challenge, Arlington, Texas

Rookies 93-78 Sophomores

Rookies pull away to victory behind MVP Griffin's 27

After a close first 3 quarters the rookies pulled away in the 4th to beat the Sophomores by 15 points, the Clippers 2009 No 1 overall pick Blake Griffin won the rookie challenge MVP with a dominant performance of 27 points 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Griffin was ably assisted by Phoenix's forward Earl Clark who added a double double, with rebounds not assists, and the 2nd Overall pick Hasheem Thabeet was one rebound away from a double double himself. Steph Curry and Jonny Flynn successfully shared point guard duties and recorded 6 and 7 assists respectively, Chicago's Christian Eyenga added 15 points. For the sophomores, poor shooting was their downfall, nevertheless there were some good performances, 2007's top pick by Portland Greg Oden ran Griffin close for the MVP with 20 points and 14 rebounds of his own, set up on numerous occasions by the top pick of the 2008 draft by Chicago, Derrick Rose, who recorded 10 assists and was one bucket away from a double double, Courtney Lee and Mario Chalmers scored 15 and 14 respectively as well in the losing effort.

The Spurs are certainly trade happy this season. I guess you've got to hand it to them, they're still sitting atop the West so I guess there's a method to the madness.

Tough look in the Rookie Challenge, glad to see Rose total ten assists but Griffin certainly had a fine performance for the rookies. Good luck in the All-Star game, hope you can hold onto a Playoff spot the rest of the way too.

Indeed, it looks to me like they are trying to trade their older guys for stars with more longevity, yeah Griffin beasted the rookie game and the match-up between he and Greg Oden was a good one, sadly D-Rose was clamped down on quite alot and was unable to score by getting to the rim as he usually does. I'm tempted to take over for the playoffs this season if we make it to see what I can do, maybe cause an upset, what do you think Andrew?

I like that idea. (Y) I think you've got a good idea simming through the first season bit by bit to get to the offseason and then dive into things next year, but if you make the Playoffs then I'd certainly recommend giving it a go.

Thanks mate, gonna do a big sim to the end of season after the all-star break though i think, then re-cap the season inc awards etc and do the playoffs if we make it. I'm hoping to bring Lebron to Chicago in the off-season, he sometimes becomes available in free agency at the end of the 09/10 season on live 10, as do Amare' Stoudemire and Michael Redd, Rudy Gay almost always does, i dont think Wade or Bosh ever have though

Granger and Foster for Manu? Beasley and Udonis for Big Z?? Horford for Wafer???

Horrible trades.

The worst part is that if you want to enable the Modify CPU rosters option and undo the trades, you forfeit your Dynasty points.
