trading O'Bryanator for Bill Walton was a great move! :P kidding... but Lopez is solid; not so much as his bro Brook just yet, but he's on his way

improvements/changes? keep things simple as you've got it and i'd agree with badreligion's comment above,

"I think it'd be even better if you added all the players who scored double digits. Having your highest scorer is good, but it doesn't always tell the whole story. A lot of times, the supporting players contributions can be just as telling"

Week 2

Okay so, here is Week 2. I've been busy lately studying and such, but summer is only two days away :D, so hopefully I can start updating consistently soon. My original plan was to have a "Raptor of the Month" feature, however upon Martti's suggestion, it may be changed to "Raptor of the Week", so stay tuned for that. In this update, I didn't have time to do write-ups, but those will be coming in Week 3, hopefully. I plan to add a season schedule and maybe a couple other goodies, so keep it locked!

Nice trade to get Lopez. Now you've got Bargnani and Lopez as your two centers-the same as me. I traded some guys on my Phoenix team for Andrea Bargnani and now Bargnani is starting. Good trade!

Raptor of The Week

Week 1 & 2

Chris Bosh

Image

Stats:

21.1 PPG
5.6 RPG
2.1 BPG
1.0 SPG

With the Toronto Raptors atop the league, it is only fitting that the Raptor of the Week be their all-star, Chris Bosh. Throughout the first 2 weeks of the season, Chris has put the Raptors on his back, carrying them on both ends of the floor to a league-leading record of 7-2. His 21.1 PPG is tenth best in the league while his 2.1 BPG is eighth. Bryan Colangelo showed he is serious about surrounding his star with talent by acquiring Robin Lopez from Phoenix. "We want to go deep into the playoffs, he's gonna be the one to take us there" said Colangelo of his star. Is it too early, or out of the question to start naming Bosh as an favourite for MVP? Well if he continues to play like this, the rest of the league better watch out for CB4!

Sorry, kind of a weak read, but I'm too busy studying D:

Jason Thompson & Ime Udoka will be ready for action when the Raptors travel to New Jersey

Raptors & Kings Deal Forwards, Picks

Addressing a need for frontcourt scoring and financial flexibility, the Raptors made a trade today, acquiring forwards Jason Thompson and Ime Udoka from the Sacramento Kings for Reggie Evans and Amir Johnson.

Evans, a 6-8, 245-pound power forward, is considered one of the more physical players in the league. However, throughout the first 11 games of the season, was unable to prove worthy of his $4.00M deal. Regrettably, the Raptors also had to throw in forward Amir Johnson for the Kings to accept.

The Kings will be sending Jason Thompson, a 6'10 forward with exponential potential who has averaged 3.7PPG, 6.3RPG, 1.3BPG and 1.2SPG in 12 starts with the Kings. Swingman Ime Udoka will also head up north.

Along with the pairs of forwards, the two teams also exchanged 2nd Round Picks in this year's draft. The Raptors now have two 2nd Round Picks from Phoenix and Sacramento respectively.

"We're changing the dynamic of our club with this move," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said Tuesday afternoon. "This obviously addresses a few areas of need."

The deal also gives Toronto some financial flexibility.

Both Raptor forwards were to make a combined $8.00M this season.

Thompson and Udoka are to make roughly $1.00M each.

The Raptors are now roughly $12.0M under the salary cap.

This is the second move Gm Brian Colangelo has made this season, the other, acquiring Robin Lopez from Phoenix.

"It doesn't mean we're done yet," said Colangelo.

This deal not only clears up cap space, but also the log-jam at the 4 spot. Both Thompson and Udoka will dress for the Raptors. Robin Lopez will be activated and Marcus Banks will be put on Injury Reserve.

The Breakdown:

Toronto Gets:

Image
Jason Thompson - 6'10 (68)

Image
Ime Udoka - 6'6 (70)

Image
Sacramento's 2009 2nd Round Draft Pick

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sacramento Gets:

Reggie Evans - 6'8 (68)

Image
Amir Johnson - 6'9 (69)

Nice trade; I don't think either of those guys you traded away would be getting many minutes with the acquisition of Robin Lopez so I like it. I also think Ime Udoka is a good pickup for your bench as well.

The Raptors would start out the week with a nail-biting OT win over the Orlando Magic. A back-and-fourth game throughout, the Raptors managed to hold Dwight Howard to a relatively quite night of only 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. However, it would be the Magic supporting cast that stepped up, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis torched the Raptors for a combined 65 points. The Magic would head into the fourth up by 1, and the lead would shift back-and-fourth until the dieing seconds. Micheal Pietrus attempted to break the deadlock as the shot clock expired only to be blocked by Jose Calderon, the Raptors recovered the ball and called for time with 11.3 seconds left. The ball was inbounded to Hedo Turkoglu, who melted the clock and attempted a shot to win the game, but, it did not fall. This sent the game into overtime, tied 88 a piece. In the extra period the Raptors would make no mistakes, quickly going on a 6-0 run that they would not relinquish.

In the days prior to this game , GM Brian Colangelo would make his second acquisition this season. Colangelo acquired rookie forward Jason Thompson, swingman Ime Udoka and Sacramento's 2009 2nd Round Pick. In exchange the Raptors sent power forwards Reggie Evans, Amir Johnson and their 2009 2nd Round Pick. Both players would be ready to go when the Raptors headed back up north to face their division rivals, the New Jersey Nets. Despite a relatively close game, it would be the Raptors coming out on top, but not before Yi Jialian had one of his best performances of the season, going off for 18 points (16 in the first half) and 7 rebounds. "They've got great young talent in Yi, Court and Dev, give them a couple of years and we will be neck-and-neck for top spot in the Atlantic Divsion" said GM Brian Colangelo.

To close out the week, the Raptors would welcome the Boston Big 3 to the ACC. Boston, although the overwhelming favourites on paper, were unable to handle the intensity and depth the Raptors brought to the table. The strong first half efforts put in by the starters, including all starters scoring in double digits, were matched by the bench corps, accounting for 42 of the Toronto's total 115, including 11 from Antoine Wright and an astonishing 18 for newly acquired rookie Jason Thompson in only 10 minutes of play. The Boston bench on the other hand, showed no signs of resistance against the Raptor reserves. Backup Point Guard, Nate Robinson, accounted for 10 turnovers in only 10 minutes of play.

A slow start would plague the Raptors throughout the first half, leaving them trailing at half for the first time in over 10 games. In the first quarter, Stephen Jackson came out gunning, dropping 2 back-to-back treys. Chris Bosh, was shut down in the first half by Boris Diaw, Bosh only managed to score 6 points on 3/8 shooting in the first half .The Raptors would go into half down by one. However, thanks to a strong second half performance, in which the Raptors would outscore the Bobcats by 17, propelled them to another victory.

In a rematch from earlier on in the season, the Raptors would face one of the only two teams to beat them, the Atlanta Hawks. Early on the Raptors would show signs of redemption, outscoring the Hawks by 7 in the first quarter. But, it would all go hill down from there. For the second time this season, Mike Bibby would torch the Raptors. Bibby went off for 36 points and dished off 9 dimes leading the Hawks to victory over the Raptors, for the second time this season. Joe Johnson added 20 for the Hawks, while Marvin Williams stifled the Raptor offense with 5 blocks. Chris Bosh and Hedo Turkoglu has 20 points each. The Raptors winning streak ended at 9.

If you took the best from the East and West, you would have the Raptors and Lakers. Many were profiling this game as a possible "NBA Finals Matchup", and they were not disappointed. In what was mostly a shot-for-shot, point-for-point game, each team battled valiantly down the stretch. Derek Fisher would prove he still has "it", by dropping 40 and dishing the ball 7 times. The Raptors would hold Kobe Bryant to only 10 points on 4/11 shooting. Hedo Turkoglu was the high point man for the Raptors with 21. Chris Bosh had his lowest scoring game of the season with 14.
