Pretty good trade, although in my (biased) opinion you gave up too much (3 starting caliber players in Hinrich, Salmons and Thomas)

Personally i wouldnt mind keeping Hinrich and his contract, it reduces over the years and he's a very good player, still, good job getting TMac, hope he works out (Y)

Hinrich had a bad contract that he needed to get rid of. He wasn't going to re-sign Tyrus Thomas and nobody cares about Salmons. It's a calculated gamble. Plus if you know Mark, he loves T-Mac :P

Season 2009-2010, where did it go?

Playoffs

LeBron falls short again, Nuggets Win First Title

Image
The Nuggets celebrate winning their first NBA Title. Could this be the start of a Dynasty?

After coming so close last season only to be foiled by the Lakers the Denver Nuggets finally got their long coveted title. Chauncy Billups adds this title to the won he won in 2004 with the Pistons, and helps Carmelo finally get his.
LeBron James once again made it to the finals only to fall short, having done so in the 2007 finals against the Spurs where they were swept 4-0. Perhaps this series wasn't so much of a whitewash, however it was once again apparent that more help will be needed for King James to finally make it over the hump.
It was once again a duel between the two 2003 draft superstars and it was LeBron who came out on top in terms of statistics averaging 34ppg, 7rpg, 9.5 apg and 4 steals to Carmelo's 29ppg and 10 rebounds, however Carmelo came out on top thanks to the ability of his supporting cast and his willingness to defer to them when needed.

The Nuggets admittedly had an easy run to the finals, well after the first round anyway. Facing the 7th seed Clippers many saw this as a white wash, however the Los Angeles team pushed Denver all the way with each team defending their home court succesfully.
From then on it was easy sailing for Denver (2) as Sacramento (6) and Oklahoma (8) upset stronger opponents to give the Nuggets a favourable path to the finals.
Cleveland (4) also had an easy run sweeping both the Raptors (5) and Hawks (1) in their first and second round respectively. They also got a lucky break in the conference finals as Miami, a team they matched up with more effectively, upset the Magic (3) in the conference semis.

Image
This years playoffs will deffinately be remembered for its upsets.

This years playoffs provided fans with some exciting matchups and upsets. With a playoffs that saw four lower half seeds make it past the first round and an 8th and 7th seed in the conference finals it was deffinately added strength to the view that the league is becoming deeper with a greater talent spread.
The young and energetic Thunder (8) managed to knock off the experienced and seemingly top of their form Spurs in the first round and roll on through to the conference finals thanks to the Hornets sweeping the Lakers. In the East it was Miami (7) who led by Dwayne Wade and Michael Beasley knocked off the 2nd seed Celtics and then 3rd seed Orlando Magic.
Next season will deffinately be interesting as teams may now be more aware that having a high seed going into the playoffs doesn't really mean anything and it may be more prudent to focus on keeping players fresh for the post April games.

Rta, Yeah it is a bit of a gamble, but hey, its T-Mac, im sure as long as he's healthy he can contribute.
hova-, Yeah I was perhaps a little tough on the Rockets, it just seems they lost a little of their flexibility with the Trade. Re: TMac, I dont seem him soley as a role player, people forget that hes still roughly the same age as Vince, Kobe etc and just needs a injury free season with continued game time to get back into the flow of it, im hoping I can provide that over the second half of the season.
Jae, Yeah I was pretty happy with the trade, to be honest I had my mind set of getting T-Mac (with a contingency plan of getting Manu) but was having trouble getting them to agree to a deal without giving up a pick. In the end I went with this simply because it gave the roster a shake up and I got my man, but I deffinately had to give up some pieces I was wanting to keep.
Thierry., Cheers dude, yeah I was a bit in awe of that T-Mac pic, was actually one I took during the game as opposed to the pressbook ones.
Valor, The X, Yeah Hinrich's contract was bad, but he was the one player I wanted to keep out of the trade simply because ive always liked him, however he was the piece that turned the deal and in the end it actually was better for me as I got rid of his contract. To me I had too many players that I would want to give decent minutes if I kept those three around so it was kind of an addition by subtraction case as I prefer to use a short rotation when possible, especially when simming.

Yeah, it took a while to get the results I needed to play the final, but on 1 min quarters it was a breeze to get that pic
Haha yeap, lime green and burgandy suit, what a class act :P

Offseason hopefully recapped tomorrow. Not going to go into too much depth as I want to focus on this coming season. Will basically just cover the Bulls moves then give a rundown of significant other moves.

Some strange surprises in the Playoffs, but all in all not the worst simmed season I've seen. Looking forward to the offseason.

Yeah T-mac is the man, so hoping he does well with New York.

Yeah I did have to pay to get him, but if he can get back in form he is a top scorer in this league.

Martti wrote:Damn, Stern is worse then Craig Sager. Cavs lost in the Finals again, just love it.

Yeah Cavs losing made it a great postseason to watch!

Thierry wrote:I did a Pacers sim yesterday and it was Spurs-Bobcats in the Finals, Bobcats sweep to win the championship...

Don't sleep on those Cats, very underrated defensive team.

Yeah man, was a bit weird but not terrible.

Yeah I really want to get to next season too, will probably not recap the offseason as intensely as I had planned, that will be saved for the following offseason when there is more story behind it.

2010 Offseason: How to build a champion.

Team/Player Options

Bulls exercise team options on Noah, Rose and Hayes.

Chicago took their first step in building their team into a championship caliber team by picking up team options on key pieces Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose.
Rose will stick around in the windy city for at least another two years while Noah's contract will run out at the end of the 2010-2011 season.
Chuck Hayes, who has only spent half a season with Chicago, had his option picked up also. The Bulls did not want to see him walk for nothing, however his future with the team is in no way certain as the Bulls look to clear their log jam of undersized bigs.

2010 Offseason: How to build a champion.

Player Resigning

T-Mac resigns, wants to help return Chicago to glory once again.

Image
McGrady perhaps a little too stoked to be back on board with the Bulls?

Chicago took their next big step in the offseason, coming to terms with Tracy McGrady on a two year $24.36m deal (2nd year team option). Chicago ended up giving McGrady more than many expected however the Bulls decided he had proven he was back to a top level after he averaged 22.8, 5.3, 6.1 and 1.5 steals in his 31 games with the team last season.
The 2nd year team option gives Chicago a contingency plan in the case that McGrady suffers another long term injury, however (touch wood) McGrady was in great shape last season and has focused on improving his condidtioning and keeping his body in top shape over the offseason, following the advise of the ever helathy Derek Fisher.
For Mcgrady the Bulls offer him the chance to help lead a team again as opposed to becoming another role player on a deep championship calibre roster. "Im just happy to have the chance to get my career back to the way it was when I was leading a team, I can't thank the Chicago Bulls orgainization enough for giving me this chance. I think we have a chance to build something special here and am very happy with the direction the organization is heading in.

The Bulls also announced that they have come to terms with veteran center Brad Miller on a 1 year, $1.5m contract. Miller who has played a key role in the Chicago dressing room, especially through the trials of last years poor performing season, was happy to resign with the Bulls in a mentor and limited veteran role. At this stage Miller will once again be backing up Joakim Noah pending any other free agent signings.

With the signing of McGrady and Miller the Bulls now limit themselves to only being able to offer one more larger contract to lure in a third star to add to the core of McGrady, Rose, Noah and Deng. With Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all resigning with their teams the race to sign one of the remaining star free agents is heating up.

Coming up Next: Who is avaliable? A look at the key free agents still on the market and how they would fit with the Bulls.

He's on the bench too in that T-Mac pic.

Anyway, I like that you kept T-Mac. It's a shame no big FA was left. Perhaps Boozer or Amare, if they're available. And of course, Shannon Brown! :P

2 year 24 million...hope he can play like the TMac of the past and not the injury prone version, otherwise it's kinda like Ben Wallace all over again, good thing it's a team option (Y)
