Thursday 29th October @ The Rose Garden Arena, Portland, OR

Denver Nuggets [1-0] @ Portland Trailblazers [1-0]

Starting Line-ups

Denver
G | Chauncey Billups | 85 Overall
G-F | Aaron Afflalo | 63 Overall
F-G | Joey Graham | 68 Overall
F | Kenyon Martin | 74 Overall
C | Nene | 75 Overall

Portland
G | Andre Miller | 78 Overall
G | Steve Blake | 72 Overall
G-F | Brandon Roy | 88 Overall
F-C | LaMarcus Aldridge | 78 Overall
C | Greg Oden | 74 Overall

Image
Billups will be the Blazers main focus

Without star player Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets are bound to have a tough time against the Blazers in this one and will most likely rest a lot of the tasks in the hands of starting PG Chauncey Billups. Joey Graham will most likely be starting in place of the injured Anthony. The once very anticipated match-up of Roy vs Anthony will now be Roy vs and Graham and the Blazers coaching staff will be looking to exploit the talent miss-match at the starting SF position. Also look for Fernandez, Outlaw and Webster to be giving their all as they try to impress the Blazers coaching staff in an attempt to fight for more minutes off the bench. What was once a highly anticipated divisional match-up is now not expected to be as exciting as a result of Anthony's injury and should give the Blazers a much better shot at the win. Expect the Blazers to come out of this game with a win against their division rivals.

Dammit, we lose Perkins to an injury so we lose to Charlotte and home, Perkins is much more important to us in 2K10 than I realized.

You're very lucky that Carmelo injured himself a game earlier, not to mention that most of the Denver squad will be quite tired because of a back to back game, you've got this one in the bag. I enjoyed reading the preview too, I like how to set everything out.

Yeah I laughed when I saw that Boston lost to the Bobcats as soon as Perkins was out, they really do need him.
Yeah so glad that Carmelo was out, It would've made the game so much harder. I've played the game now and hope to have a recap up soon.

Postby TomCat on Thu Dec 10, 2009 7:32 pm

Blazers win at buzzer, beat Carmelo-less Nuggets

First Quarter:
The first few minutes of the opening quarter consisted of some very poor basketball, shooting at a very low percentage from the field from both sides. Denver soon began to clean up their act while Portland continued to play poor basketball, turning the ball over 4 times in the first 5 minutes which lead to Denver going out to a 13-7 lead. Brandon Roy had to sit early because of two early fouls. From then on the Blazers did regain their composure and held on to a 5 point deficit at the end of the first, thanks mainly to good play off the bench, particularly Fernandez, Batum and Przybilla. Denver lead at quarter time 23-18.

Second Quarter:
The quarter started with a shot clock violation by Nene and a 3-pointer by Fernandez at the other end and the lead cut to 2. This was the beginning of a 9-0 run which put the Blazers in front 27-23. The remainder of the quarter consisted of some very even and hotly contested basketball from both sides, with Portland finishing the half with a slight edge, 40-39

Player At The Half:
Chauncey Billups | 12 Points | 6 Assists | 1 steal

Third Quarter:
The third quarter opened with a Kenyon Martin mid-range jumper to put the Nuggets up by 1. But Portland would come right back with a dunk by Aldridge. The game would go basket for basket for the next few minutes which involved a highlight reel play by Brandon Roy with a nice drive and dunk which got the crowd on their feet. Denver began to take a bit more control of the game from that point, getting to a 6 point lead off a 3 point jumper by Billups, 59-53. The Nuggets would hold onto this lead going into the fourth quarter, the score 64-60 at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter:
The first half of the quarter went pretty much basket for basket, with the Nuggets holding onto a 3 point lead 71-68 with 5:53 remaining in the match. However Portland would score the next 4 points to take a 1 point lead. A great fast break dunk by Fernandez and then taking the charge gave Portland the ball with a 3 point lead, 74-71 with 2:55 remaining, which lead to a wide open jumper from Miller to extend the lead to 5 and force the Nuggets to take a timeout. However the Nuggets came right back with a 3 pointer from Afflalo to cut the lead back to 2. The shooting in this game was terrific at this point, with the very next play resulting in a Steve Blake 3-pointer to extend the lead back out to 5 again. Next play would result in a very long 2 by Nene to cut the lead to 3 with 1:53 remaining. A turnover by Roy would lead to an easy lay-up for Afflalo on the other end to cut the lead to 1. Two clutch free throws from "Mr. Big Shot" Chauncey Billups would give the Nuggets a 1 point lead with 39 seconds to play. A missed 3 by Roy would give the Nuggets the ball back with 27 seconds remaining and a 1 point lead. A missed fade by Nene gave the Blazers the ball after a timeout with 6.1 seconds remaining trailing by 1. Someone would have to step up, The Trailblazers looked for that player to be Brandon Roy, throwing him the ball off the inbound. Roy ran around to the baseline to attempt to beat his opponent one-on-one but was double teamed when Chris Anderson came in with the help defense with about 2 seconds remaining. Roy got the pass off down to the open man, Aldridge in the paint who put it up with 0.1 seconds remaining on the clock and in! The Blazers had won the game thanks to Roy and Aldridge's great heroics.

Final Score: Nuggets 80-81 Portland

POR | 18 | 22 | 20 | 21 | 81
DEN | 23 | 16 | 25 | 16 | 80

Re: [2K10][2-0] 09-10 Blazers | Recap vs Nuggets

Postby TomCat on Thu Dec 10, 2009 8:11 pm

Around the league: Thursday, October 29th 2009

There were only the 2 games played on Thursday night:

[0-2] San Antonio 93 @ 97 Bulls [1-0]
Player Of The Game | John Salmons | 23 Points | 5 Rebounds | 1 Steal

[1-1] Denver 80 @ 81 Portland [2-0]
Player Of The Game | Brandon Roy | 24 Points | 11 Assists | 1 Rebound

Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the night's action

A couple of hours after the Nuggets @ Blazers game, the Blazers front office told ESPN that the Sacramento Kings had put a trade offer on the table. They seemed very interested in obtaining young French SF Nicolas Batum [64]. They told ESPN that the Kings had offered guard Francisco Garcia [68] plus a 2nd round draft choice in the upcoming 2010 NBA draft. The Blazers front office said that although it was a very generous offer from the Kings, they do not want to give up their young 2nd year player, Batum. They feel he has a lot of potential and believe he will be one of the high profile Blazers players in years to come.

That is all the news from around the NBA on Thursday night.

Saturday 31st October @ The Compaq Center, Houston, TX

Portland Trailblazers [2-0] @ Houston Rockets [1-1]

Starting Line-ups

Portland
G | Andre Miller | 78 Overall
G | Steve Blake | 72 Overall
G-F | Brandon Roy | 88 Overall
F-C | LaMarcus Aldridge | 78 Overall
C | Greg Oden | 74 Overall

Houston
G | Aaron Brooks | 77 Overall
G | Trevor Ariza | 78 Overall
F | Shane Battier | 75 Overall
F | Luis Scola | 73 Overall
C | Ming Yao | 83 Overall

Image
The match-up of Roy and Ariza will again be an interesting one

With Yao and McGrady back from injury and into the line-up (McGrady coming off the bench), it will be interesting to see if the Blazers are able to get away with a win this time in Houston, after only just sneaking away with a 2 point victory in their previous contest after collapsing in the 4th with a double-digit lead at the end of the third quarter. Again it will be interesting to watch the match-up of Roy and Ariza, 2 of the best scoring guards in the NBA. Also another one to look for is the match-up of young Greg Oden (number 1 overall draft pick in the '07 draft) against the seasoned veteran and multiple all-star 7'6" center, Yao. It will be a good test for the young big man to help him grow and it is very likely that Greg will be given plenty of opportunities to prove himself against some of the more dominating centers in the NBA. All in all this could be a very interesting game, which could go either way.

NOTE - YAO AND T-MAC WERE ONLY OUT FOR THEIR SEASON OPENER FOR SOME REASON. LOOKS LIKE THEY'LL BE PLAYING REGULARLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON. I ASSUME THAT IS THE CASE FOR OTHER PLAYERS WHO WERE INJURED (REAL-TIME) WHEN I STARTED THIS ASSOCIATION.

Well I rated them 25 in all categories as long as their out. So they do not play a single game. Hell, Dirk and Devin already scoring in the 40s. Good luck against the Rockets.

Oh ok fair enough well they've already came back and played a game so too late to change that... Yeah those guys are doing well early. Devin leads the league in PPG with 39.0

Wow, such a lucky victory against the Nuggets - Aldridge to the rescue. Looking good Tomcat. Keep the updates coming and stick to the present layout, because it looks good as! New Jersey is seemingly the best team in 2k10. They are 2-0 in your association with Devin Harris on pace (warranted there's been to games) to earn a spot on the NBA all-first team. Interestingly enough, they lead the East through 30 games in my association too. By the way, with Greg Oden out for the season in real life, a) will he be playing in your association? And b) if a move is made in real life will you be attempting to make the same move?

To answer both of those questions, I will be doing this association as it is, meaning Oden will be playing all season (unless of course he suffers a freak injury on my association (lets hope not)) and I will just be making moves that I think will benefit my team and add something interesting to my association story.. and the CPU can do whatever trades they want..

Anyway, thanks for the kind words (Y)

Postby TomCat on Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:43 pm

Rockets' strong finish buries Blazers

First Quarter:
Within the first 10 seconds of playing time, the Rockets had already scored a wide open 3 from Brooks. The Blazers better hope they don't let them score this easy too much during the game or they will have no chance. However, Portland answered right back with a 3 by Roy. From that point Portland took early control of the match to take a 16-7 lead. A good comeback by Houston ending the quarter with the score Portland 22-19 Houston.

Second Quarter:
The Rockets continued their fine play which involved some great offense by McGrady to go ahead 28-27 only a short time into the second quarter. The remainder of the quarter was basket-for-basket, except for a small run by the Blazers to end the half leading 47-42

Player At The Half:
Brandon Roy | 16 Points | 2 Assists

Third Quarter:
Portland continued their run to start the third quarter going up 54-45 off a mid-range Brandon Roy jumper. However a 7-0 run by the Rockets (5 scored by Ariza) would cut the lead back to 2. Portland would, however control the tempo of the remainder of the quarter, taking a 7 point lead at the end of the third quarter, 70-63

Fourth Quarter:
Houston would open the fourth quarter like they did the first, with a 3 pointer from Aaron Brooks. However Portland would answer right back with a dunk by Aldridge, who was playing a very good game. But again Houston would hit a 3 on their next possession. This time from Battier. Portland would then answer with a 3 by Blake. Both teams showing great shooting performances in this game. Houston would go on a small run to tie the score at 77 apiece with 6 minutes to play. On the very next play Rudy Fernandez would burn right past his man and slam it down for a monster jam worthy of the highlight reel. From that point, however Houston would go on a 7-0 run to lead by 5. Houston would go on another run to take a 6 point lead with 2 minutes remaining. A charging foul by Brandon Roy would turn the ball right back over to Houston. 2 offensive rebounds on the following play would give Houston second chance points to go up by 8. Time was running out for the Blazers. Nothing would fall for Portland, with Roy missing an easy lay-up on the following play. Houston would play out the game and win 97-86

Final Score: Portland 86-97 Houston

HOU | 19 | 23 | 21 | 34 | 97

Nice presentation dude, I liek the banner. Tough loss to the Rockets but otherwise your seem to be rolling along fine. Any trades looming?

Alright screw it I'm going to add NLSC players to the 2010 draft, which will include real rookies also..

I'm going to limit it to 10 rookies per draft, so get in while you can

Use this template please..

Code: Select all
First Name:
Last Name:
College/Country:
Age (Minimum of 19):
Jersey Number:
Dominant Hand:
Primary Position:
Secondary Position (optional):
Play Style (e.g scoring, defensive, pass-first):
Personality (Neutral, Expressive, Unpredictable or Laid Back):
Height:
Weight (145 minimum):
Skin Tone (1-6 [1 being darkest]):
Muscle Tone (Buff or Ripped):
Hair Style/Color:
Facial Hair Style/Color:
Tattoos:
Accessories:
5 best attributes (e.g shot close, pass, steal, 3pt shot, dunk):
5 next best attributes:
Another 5 best attributes:
Shooting style:

* Note - The 3 sets of 5 attributes are what I will rate higher than others.. for example the first set of 5 will all be rated at 80, then the next 5 rated at 75.. then 70.. Remaining skills will be set at the default according to the playing style selected. I'm going to make everyone's offensive and defensive awareness, default at 65, unless someone puts it in their best attributes.. Also i would recommend choosing attributes that comply to your playing style

Ok I'm going to include myself in this draft as well for fun :) but it won't count as one of the 10 available spots..

Last Name: Cooper
College/Country: UCLA

5 next best attributes: Offensive awareness, Defensive awareness, Steal, Ball handling, Shot close
