Alexander is packing up his things when a call comes in on a unknown cell phone left on his dresser. He picks it up an answers.

Alexander : Hello?

Roy : What the fuck did you just do?

Alexander : Roy?

Roy : Who else do you know that would give a cell phone. Yeah its me....

Alexander : I don’t know what happened man...

Roy : I just checked with you 2 nights ago to make sure your head was right... and I took your word for it. I guess I was wrong.

Alexander : I thought it was right B. I don’t know what happened. If I could get another chance I know it won’t happen again...

Roy : Another chance! You got to be crazy man! You just knocked out a veteran player! Your not getting another chance!

Alexander : B....

Roy : Don’t B me.... how many times have I went to bat for you man? How many from HS until now have I stepped up and helped you out?

Alexander : I know man... I messed up...

Roy : Thats it A. Thats the last time I can do that. You made the bed and know you have to sleep in it.

Alexander : Yeah... I figured...

Roy : Look man... I got to go. Coach McMillan wants my head for this one. I have to think about what im going to say to him. If you do one thing... just take my advice on this. Take the job and your dad’s brewery and try and get a relationship with you son. He’s all you got left now... don’t let it go to waste. I got to go.. Bye

Alexander lays slumped over on his office couch. Beer bottles and old pizza boxes littler the room. The phone rings.... and continues to ring... Alexander wakes up from his hang over and answers the phone.

Alexander : Yeah

Frank : Hello... Im trying to get a hold of Altair Alexander.

Alexander : This is him

Frank : Hi Altair... how are you doing ?

Alexander : Who the hell is this and why are you calling me at this time of night?

Frank : (laughs)... well... I didn’t realize 10 AM was late for... but my name is Frank Manning, im an agent with Rowe & Jennings sports agency.

Alexander : Why are you calling me?

Frank : Well,... I wanted to know if you still play Basketball?

Alexander : No... I don’t.

Frank : Are you sure? I heard you were with the Portland Trailblazers camp as off 2 weeks ago?

Alexander : Well... Im not anymore.... Im a brewery manager now for Pacific Sail.

Frank : (laughs) I thought that place went bankrupt 3 years ago when the Owner had a drug overdose or something....

Alexander : That owner was my father..... and im about 1 second away from hanging up this phone.

Frank : hold on, hold on.... Im sorry to hear about that Altair... I didn’t know.

Alexander : You got 1 sentence to explain this phone call or im hanging up the phone.

Frank : My associates and are are interested in your services.... and there is a team interested in taking you on board.

Alexander : An NBA team? Which one?

Frank : No... its not an NBA team exactly.... but have you ever heard of the NBDL?

Alexander : Semi Pro?

Frank : Yes.... a semi pro run directly under the NBA.

Alexander : Why would a team what me?

Frank : Well.... we have been in talks with a team over the past few days... and they seem to need a PG... and they like what they saw from you in the Summer League’s.

Alexander : So why didn’t they call me?

Frank : Because it doesn’t work like that Alexander. You need an agent... then we set up a deal that will get you playing ball... and getting paid.

Alexander : So... I have to sign with you... then you get me on the team?

Frank : Exactly.

Alexander : I don’t know.... I don’t think I have it in me to play ball....

Frank : Just come down here and give it a try. If you don’t like what you see, you can go back to your Brewery.

Alexander : ...........

Frank : Look Alex... is it ok I call you Alex?

Alexander : no

Frank : Ok.. good... Alex, you have a once in a lifetime chance here. With me by your side, we can get you in the NBDL and then I will shop you around to NBA team. With me at the helm... I guarantee you will be on an NBA team before the seasons over. So what do you say?

Alexander : You guarantee I will break into the NBA?

Frank : I know you will!! I tell you what.... I will have a plane ticket waiting for you at PDX tomorrow at 10 am. You show up, get on the plane, and we will be here ready to pick you up in Tulsa.

Alexander : Tulsa?

Frank : Yeah, Tulsa.... were getting you on the Tulsa 66ers.

Alexander : Huh?

Frank : Ok Alex... good talking with you, I will see you tomorrow!!

Frank Hangs up the phone...........

I am going to use this post and all game type post's in the future for 5 game strings. Since 2k10 makes it so easy to get the highlights.... I figure I can do one for every game.... but I also figure making numerous posts would just fill up the forum. Only time I will make a single post for a game is when it is record game or a big time match up. Enjoy :

Frank : Alex!! Great game baby, great game. Hey, I need you to stop by my office tomorrow.

Alexander : Yeah... what for?

Frank : We got a spot for you on the local Fox Sports radio to introduce yourself to the fans here of Tulsa, and ya know... talk about your game...

Alexander : Why would they want to hear from me? I've only been here a week?

Frank pulls Alexander to the side

Frank : Look... these people don't know what they want Alex.... we tell them what they want. If you plan on breaking into the NBA, you need these fans to want you.

Alexander : I'd rather just work on my game and have them notice me for player well.

Frank : You can go out there and score 50 points.... but guess what Alex.... If your an unknown and your not sell-able to the NBA; THEY WONT WANT YOU! Its a business Alex, and you need to start looking at it that way. Self Promotion always works.... and it never fails.

Alexander : I'll go on the radio tomorrow... but im talking about the team... not me.

Frank : Ok, ok... you want to go the team player route... that's good.. we can sell that.

Alexander : Nice talking to you Mr.Manning,... but I have to go.

Frank : Ok Alex.... Just keep that self promotion in Mind.

Berry : Alright, were joined now by new PG for the Tulsa 66ers, Altair Alexander. How you doing Altair?

Altair : Im doing good.

Berry : You guys are traveling to Austin today... You've helped get the 66ers to 2-0... how does it feel to be back playing basketball and to be able to help out?

Altair : It feels good. Im enjoying my time down here in Tulsa and im enjoying playing with the team.

Berry : You did well in the summer league and then got invited to the Trail Blazer camp.... what happened there? You seem like a solid ball player... why did they cut you?

Altair : I think it was just a conflict of personalities. I enjoyed my time while I was there... but thats in the past and im happy where im at right now.

Berry : Now, obviously you want to get the call up to the NBA. Anywhere in particular you'd like to go?

Altair : You know... I guess I haven't been thinking about it much. Only thing on my mind is getting down to Austin and helping the team win against a good Toro's team.

Berry : So.. from the information we got is that you were going to be a pretty high draft pick in the '03 draft. Things didn't work out and you joined the Military.... tell what that was like and what you think you've learned from your experience.

Altair : Well... as unfortunate as it was... I enjoyed my time in the military and I am proud to have served my country. I think if I learned anything from the military, it was the hard work and dedication you have to put in, in order to get the job done.

Berry : Well Altair, it looks like you've transferred that work ethic to basketball. Glad you could be on, we wish you luck against the Toro's tonight.

Altair : Thanks Berry, good talking to you.

I agree with Lamrock, Altair is a douche, but in the last 2 dialogs he hasn't been that bad. I like where you're going with the story though, you're progressing pretty quickly too.

Alexanders sits up in his hotel room.... his phone rings...

Alexander : Hello?

Roy : You did good tonight.

Alexander : B?

Roy : Don’t you have caller ID? Yeah its me.

Alexander : You seen the game tonight?

Roy : NBDL is on NBA TV.... you played good... even got some of the announcers talking about you.

Alexander : It was alright I guess...

Roy : You need to do one thing though....

Alexander : Whats that?

Roy : SHOOT THE DAMN BALL!!

Alexander : I had 19? Plus 7 assists....

Roy : All your shots were lay-ups.... and it looks like your playing scared out there.... what ever happened to “Reflex”... huh... where did he go?

Alexander : Man... that was a long time ago.... im just trying to get my game back.

Roy : Well I got news for you.... its not going to happen with the way your playing. You need to step up... your playing to conservative right now and it hurts to watch.

Alexander : (laughs).. and this is coming from you? Your about as conservative as it gets.

Roy : Thats because thats my play style... and it works with my team. I know you... thats not your style. You need to stop trying to be like me and just be yourself.... be the baller you used to be... be Reflex again.

Alexander : You should remember, that baller.. named Reflex, made some bad decisions... and people didn’t really like him.

Roy : Stop acting like a bitch. Fuck them other people. I used to envy the fact that you could step on the court with anyone... not giving a fuck about who it is.... its like there was no pressure on you. You had game... good game. You have to get back to that if you want to make it.

Alexander : So your saying I should be the careless fucker I used to be (laughs)

Roy : You know what I mean....

Alexander : Yeah, yeah

Roy : Alright bro... I have to get some sleep.. got a game tomorrow.

I am a die hard blazer fan... but I hated the signing of Miller..... (Just never liked him). Glad you enjoy the dialogues. They are a little slow right now... but once he gets into the NBA it will pick up and become more interesting.

lol... glad you like it. The NBDL action is decent... but the players miss so many easy shots the scores have been low... Im just waiting on the call up to the NBA now... the games will get better with markee match-ups, and the dialogue will get better.

You don't really have to worry about speeding the dialog up mate, even if they are slow it adds more depth to the character, which it always something that you should aim for when writing about a specific person.

Laura : Hello?

Alexander : Can I talk to Marcus

Laura : Who is this? Is this... no... no this isn’t Altair

Alexander : Yeah, it is. Can I talk to my son?

Laura : What did I tell you about calling here?

Alexander : Just let me talk to him Laura.

Laura : No... you don’t have the right

Alexander : I don’t have the right? Im his father.

Laura : Maybe If you paid me what you owe I would let you talk to him.

Alexander : What! You know I don’t have that kind of money.

Laura : Well you should of thought of that before you messed up.

Alexander : That was a court ruling over 5 years ago... that ruling still had me going to the NBA! You know as well as I do I never got paid that much.

Laura : Well it was the ruling the decided on, and its the ruling you have to live with.

A mans voice is present in the background.

Tim : Who is it baby?

Laura : Its nobody... everything’s fine

Alexander : Look, if your not going to let me talk to him, at least tell me how he is

Laura : He’s fine.

Alexander : ? That’s it? Come on... how is he doing in school.. and in sports?

Laura : Fine..... he’s smart. He’s doing good in school; Tim’s daughter is helping tutor him.

Alexander : Well thats good.... what about sports? Is he still playing basketball?

Laura : No... he’s not. He play’s soccer now.. and he enjoy’s it and he’s good at it.

Alexander : Ok, ok,... thats good. As long as he’s happy.

Laura : Anything else you need or can I hang up now?

Alexander : Just tell him I love him... and im doing everything I can so I can see him again.

Laura : (laughs).. yeah... ok. I’ll tell him you called, but im not telling him any promises that will be broken.

Alexander : Bye

Glad you liked it. Im taking a little time and still working out some of the storyline right now and finding where I am going to go with it.... should have and update and some new video's by the Friday.

Thats not the half of it. I have written a whole preface to describe the early stages of his life, including family and friend connections that may surface later in the story. Will have it up by friday.

Berry : The 66er's were active tonight, playing in Springfield against the Armor, and we have PG Altair Alexander joining us right now. Hey there Altair, how are you after that tough lose tonight.

Alexander : It was a tough loss man. We went out and played hard, but un-fortunately we just couldn't pull it out down the stretch. We still have a long schedule ahead of us though, and loses like this will help us grow throughout the season and hopefully we wont make the same mistakes.

Berry : Now; you were the leading scorer in the game, and you have been catching fire as of lately; What has been going on?

Alexander : I don't know? I just show up every night and play. Honestly, I think im playing horrible right now and I still have a lot to work on.

Berry : Well you could of fooled me. You've had over 20 points three nights in a row and tonight you had 30.

Alexander : I have missed some big shots, especially tonight. If I could have dropped in an earlier bucket,... you never know, the game could have been different.

Berry : Now, I hear your gaining some interest for some other leagues? Is it from the NBA or Over-seas?

Alexander : I haven't heard anything but I would hope its the NBA because im not going over-seas.

Berry : Well Altair, everyone here hopes its with the NBA, possibly the Thunder, but whatever the choice is we are enjoying your time here and wish you and the 66er's the best of luck tomorrow night.

Black Balled? Why the Wait?

44 points and a win. It was his 5th game in a row he scored over 20, and his 2nd game in 4 nights scoring over 30. So what exactly is the NBA waiting for? Altair Alexander has done nothing but show he can take command at the PG position and help his team win. He explodes towards the basket and dishes out sweet dimes that no one see's coming. As a Ok City Thunder fan, I am wondering what our in state friends right down route 44 are not seeing? The could use a play maker off bench, and a spark plug that can not only get Durant the ball, but can contribute points on a regular. It's obvious that several teams in the NBA could use his production, but I see no better fit then with our in state professional team.

Through 8 games this season, Alexander has been a leader on the court and an honorable citizen to the Tulsa area. His run ins with the law and butting heads with Portland Trailblazer team-mates should only be a concern if your team is expected to compete for a playoff position. As of right now, the Thunder are 1-7, and they need a player that can spark production, and ticket sales. Alexander isn't going to come into the league and score like he is in the NBDL, but the excitement he bring to the Arena is remarkable. When he takes his man baseline and pulls out a reverse dunk in traffic... that is what the Thunder need to get the fans off there feet. Durant has that quality, but when your getting doubled all night, it would be nice to have another electrifying player to give the ball to. The Thunder have several good young players, but none are as amazing to watch as what I have seen from Alexander so far. As much as I would like to keep Alexander in my own back yard, he is playing at a Pro level and it would be a shame not to see him in the NBA at some point this year.

Shouldn't be long now, Altair definitely does have the skills to get into the NBA as a dynamic scorer off the bench to start off. Just out of curiosity, in 2K10 what do you actually need to do to be drafted into the NBA from the D-League?
