As Martti said above, maybe if you add the boxscores that would be the only thing to change, IMO. Everything else looks great.

Very sweet recaps. The videos are really nice. Does it take you a lot of time to do them? 2-4 is pretty raptorish. I hope you can bring them out of mediocrity.

k, i'll think about it

takes about 1 hour and 10 mins to play a game and finish the recap including the videos. But I've got a lot of time right now, plus I do my vids in movie maker and not sony vegas because of the file size in sony vegas. You'll hear my voice when it's a game decided by 3 pts or less, or a win by raps that is not a blowout.

and yes i will bring them out of mediocrity.

Bad rebounding, worse shooting. You stood no chance at all, but hey it's the Spurs ... so you can live with that.

I love your layout john, and the gif's are great, but my only issue is that I don't get to read everything before it transitions to the next image, and that can get quite frustrating. :(

Other than that, you pulled some pretty decent trades, but it's a shame you've gotten off to a rough start. Hopefully you can understand (or at least get a proper grasp of) everyone's playing styles by around 15th game, and then you can start winning and making some magical plays with CB4. :D

I agree with Lightning Strike. The recaps are ace, but the transitions are the dumbest new dynasty trend. Tough loss. When you shoot under 40% as the Raptors of all teams, you have no chance.

Tough start, but the situation isn't hopeless.

Also, you have Dirk Nowitzki as Chris Paul in the recap vs Mavs.

Yeah the game play of 2k10 is harder than 2k9 for me. It's harder to score inside or draw fouls.

It's also harder for me. I only drawed a couple of fouls in my last game, but I tend to score inside and I have a lot of trouble shooting beyond the arc. You killed the Bulls in the fastbreak... great games by Calderon and CB4 (Y)

Statistics

PPG 24.3
RPG 8.9
BPG 1.8
FG% .523
FT% .872

Oct 28 2009
News: Bosh opened the season with 35 points, but only grabbed 4 rebounds.
Spin: It was an unusual outing for Bosh that went into a loss, though, he added a dime, a steal, 2 blocks and did not commit a turnover. He also made 14 of his 22 shots and got to the line 7 times, making all of them. It is still the first game of the season and we expect more from Toronto's franchise player, playing alongside new additions to the frontcourt in Marion and Randolph.

Oct 30 2009
News: Bosh had a fantasy friendly statline against Memphis last night, with 21 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, a steal and 3 blocks.
Spin: His shooting was a bit off (9-24) and that 6 rebounds look pretty low, but no need to panic for owners.

Nov 1 2009
News: Bosh led Toronto to their first win in the season over the Magic, with 34 points and 10 boards.
Spin: It was Bosh's first double-double night playing alongside great rebounders in Shawn Marion and Anthony Randolph. He also shot a respectable 13-25 from the field and made 8 of his 10 freebies.

Nov 4 2009
News: Bosh had his best rebounding outing of the season, as he had 30 points and 15 boards in last night's loss vs the Pistons.
Spin: Again, he shot a high percentage from the field (13-21). He didn't do well in other areas though, only adding a block.

Nov 6 2009
News: Bosh had 23 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block, to lead Toronto past New Orleans on Sunday.
Spin: He made 9 of his 18 shots, and was a usual double-double, so it seems that he had picked up his games as of late.

Nov 7 2009
News: Bosh had a rare night with 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Spin: It was a rusty outing, but we'll let him go as Monday's loss over the Mavs was the second part of a back-to-back.

Shawn Marion

Image

Statistics

PPG 16.6
RPG 5.4
BPG 0.7
SPG 2.0
FG% .546

Nov 1 2009
News: Marion had 14 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in the Raptors' first win, over the Magic.
Spin: Those two rebounds are pretty low and he still needs to adjust to the frontcourt rotation in Toronto. He did well in shooting though (4-8 FG, 6-6 3PT).

Nov 4 2009
News: Marion finished with a friendly statline in the Raptors' loss over the Pistons with 17 points, 4 boards, 6 dimes and 4 steals.
Spin: He also shot 8-14 from the field, but still hasn't picked up his rebounding game as he hasn't hit 8 boards (career average) in a game this season.

Nov 7 2009
News: Marion had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and a block in last night's loss vs Mavs.
Spin: He played 28 minutes and hit his career average in boards, so he was pretty efficient in the game.

Nov 9 2009
News: Marion was inefficient against the Spurs, with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block, but also 4 TOs, playing 32 minutes.
Spin: After his best game of the season (yet), he put up a struggling statline. Expect him to bounce back for the next few games.

Jose Calderon

Statistics

PPG 10.7
APG 12.5
SPG 1.0
FG% .526
3P% .524

Nov 1 2009
News: Calderon put up a strong performance against the Magic, with 11 points and 18 assists.
Spin: He also made 4-7 FG and 3-3 3PT, which is a strong statline. He is shooting a high clip from beyond the arc (5-6).

Nov 4 2009
News: Calderon had 9 points and 15 assists in the Raptors loss against the Pistons.
Spin: Calderon has put up 14 apg in the last three contests, which is a strong start for the shifty Spaniard.

Nov 7 2009
News: Calderon had 12 points, 12 assists and 2-4 from 3PT.
Spin: He's a double-double every night, and is a great pickup for deeper leagues.

Nov 9 2009
News: Calderon put up 17 points, 13 assists and 3 steals, shooting 5-8 from the field and making all 3 of his treys.
Spin: He's scorching hot from beyond the arc, shooting over 50%. Although Derrick Rose beat him at the dimes department by just one assist, it was still a strong effort from Calderon (12.5 apg this season)

Anthony Randolph

Image

Statistics

PPG 9.7
RPG 5.3
BPG 1.3
SPG 0.8
APG 1.6

Oct 30 2009
News: Randolph had 2 points and 5 rebounds in the Raptors' loss over Grizzlies.
Spin: It was a cold show for Randolph, shooting 1-7 from the field. Expect him to pick up his game midway to the season.

Nov 1 2009
News: Randolph had 15 points, 2 assists and a block, but only grabbed a rebound in the Raptors' first win over the Magic.
Spin: Randolph still hasn't adapted to the system yet, but making all 7 of his free throws was enough consolation.

Nov 6 2009
News: Randolph was 3-9 from the field in the Raptors' win over the Hornets.
Spin: His jumper wasn't falling, he was missing his free throws, he is taking 3-pointers that he isn't making - it all sums up to him still not acclimated to playing with the Raptors. He finished with 10 points, 3 boards, 1 assist and a block though.

Nov 7 2009
News: Randolph was a near double-double with 10 points and 9 boards.
Spin: He also added 2 assists, a steal and a block.

Nov 9 2009
News: Randolph got his first double-double of the season, with 16 points, 12 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks against the Spurs.
Spin: He was the lone Raptor on fire, and he also made his first three-pointer of the season (was 1-2 in the game).

Nov 11 2009
News: Randolph had a fantasy friendly statline last night, 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
Spin: His shooting is still off (3-9 from the field), but he's been filling in other areas.

News: Curry was cold in his debut, with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 TOs.
Spin: He was 2-9 from the field and missed his two treys.

Nov 1 2009
News: Curry snapped out of his slump, with 15 points, 5 assists and 2 steals on 6-11 shooting (3-5 3PT)
Spin: It's safe to draft him now in deeper leagues.

Nov 4 2009
News: Curry had his best pro game yet, with 16 points and 7 assists.
Spin: He made all of his 7 shots from the field, including 2 treys.

Nov 6 2009
News: Curry was cold in the Raptors' win in New Orleans last night.
Spin: He finished with 4 points and 6 dimes on 1-8 shooting from the field (0-5 from 3PT). Buyer beware.

Nov 7 2009
News: Curry got his first double-double in the Raptors' loss against the Mavericks last night.
Spin: He had 14 points, 11 dimes anda steal and was hot from beyond the arc (4-6 3PT).

Nov 11 2009
News: Curry came off the bench with 21 points, 4 assists, 2 steal and a block.
Spin: He was 8-13 from the field and 2-3 from downtown. This is his highest scoring game this season.

Marcus Banks

Statistics

PPG 2.6

Rasual Butler

Nov 7 2009
News: Butler scored a season-high 17 points and also added 6 rebounds, 2 assist and a block.
Spin: He was cold from downtown (2-8) so he is still struggling in reality. Don't add him yet.

Nov 11 2009
News: Butler snapped out of a recent slump, with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assist and a block in Raptors' win over the Bulls.
Spin: He shot 3-5 from long range and looks like he is in form. He was 5-12 from the field.

Danny Green

DeAndre Jordan

Statistics

PPG 1.9

Nov 7 2009
News: Jordan had 6 points, 6 rebounds in the Raptors' loss in Dallas.
Spin: Like Green, he made the most out of his 14 minutes. He will still see small minutes with Chris Bosh playing really well, unless the Raptors get hit by the injury bug.

Wow, impressive win against the Bulls. Despite bein outrebounded big, you were able to beat them. Thanks to your good three point shooting and your ability to draw fouls. Tough loss against the Clippers though.
Only 10 freethrows is not enough although your percentage is impressive. Griffin was nice.

So far this really reminds me of the real Raptors and that's lovely because Im a big realism supporter :)
Nevertheless, I wish you the best to grab some wins. Keep it up (Y)

john26's Raptors blog - May Your Cornbread Crumble
13 November 2009, 3:11 pm

It has been a lingering question in the minds of Raptors' fans whether their franchise player, Chris Bosh, will stay or will go. Putting up a career high 24.9 PPG, alongside a decent 8.9 rpg, Bosh looks like the same player from last year, only the offense focusing a bit more on him now. While the Raptors do not have the expiring contracts they need to free up some cap space, they can still sign Bosh for next year, only surrounding him with lesser talent.

Toronto's GM Bryan Colangelo signed the high octane point guard Jarrett Jack to an offer sheet in the previous offseason, and unsurprisingly the Pacers did not match it with all the financial difficulties they are facing. It was a move to keep the Raptors' franchise player smiling. Both Bosh and Jack played for Georgia Tech.

While Jack hasn't been that happy with his role in Toronto, it seems that Bosh is alright with what is happening. Jack might go before the deadline because of the young talent from Davidson by the name of Stephen Curry, and both just can't work together because of the playing styles.

If Jack gets traded, Bosh could have a new best friend in Jose Calderon. The Raptors' starting PG is putting up a career high 12.5 apg, leading the league. And this thanks to all the easy lobs and forced passes he gives to Bosh.

But if Bosh leaves next year, I wish that his cornbread may crumble.

-----------------------------

THE GAME OF 13s

Rasual Butler had 13 points, Chris Bosh grabbed 13 rebounds, and Jose Calderon dished out 13 assists in the Raptors' convincing 114-94 home win over the Bulls. This is a rare feat for the franchise of Toronto, and it's possible that they could be the only team to do this in the last decade or so (exactly 13 points, rebounds and assists, discounting numbers more than 13).

----------------------------

BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY

If there is anything to describe how the Raptors' PG Jose Calderon runs the offense, it's a "bittersweet symphony".

Calderon, who is averaging a career-high 12.5 apg, is part of the Raptors who are currently sitting at a 3-6 win-loss card, currently 12th at the standings. His inflated stats should be thanking the up-tempo offense of the Raptors. He has been terrific in executing transition offense although most of these assists are from easy passes.

He has been a double-double night by night, and despite playing alongside point guards in Stephen Curry and Jarrett Jack, he has been putting up these eye-popping stats.

Also, his teammate Chris Bosh is another double-double on rebounds every night, and even with a deep bench, they just won't get the W's

He isn't doing anything wrong. In fact, I just hope he doesn't STOP.

---------------------------

INTO THE GROOVE

The Raptors acquired the long, freakishly athletic forward from Golden State, Anthony Randolph, for the crappy contract of Andrea Bargnani and another athletic player, the rookie DeMar DeRozan from USC. This trade made Don Nelson's bum sore as the Raptors definitely got the edge acquiring rookie scorer Stephen Curry alongside Randolph.

While Curry has been exceeding the expectations of the coaching staff, Randolph has been doing the complete opposite. His rebounding numbers have been down from last year, playing alongside a 20-10 player in Chris Bosh and a 15 and 8 in Shawn Marion.

Also, Randolph's jumper has been falling, and he has been attempting a lot of treys this season (1-15 currently). He isn't making his free throws, and is shooting a team-low .389 from the field.

Midway to this season, he should get into the groove of playing for Toronto, because he is here to stay.

Loved this last article john, gave a very nice insight into the Raptor's team while keep it short and readable, while the NBA.com Fantasy News article was very informative, but I found it long-winded and hard to retain what information I was actually absorbing. The amount of content in this association though has been a big plus, just gotta get a few more W's on the boards so you can make the play-offs.

Thanks. The info about Fantasy Basketball was to show the progress of a player throughout the season, whether he is doing well or slumping.

Nice win agains the Suns. Good job on hitting that many threes. Pretty nice FG%. Also good to see Marion doing better. How do you score with him? Alleys and easy finishes or even threes and post up?

Hey guys I don't think I am going to update this anymore. I will probably start a new one with a different team. The reason for this is I accidentally deleted my copy. I was trying to make a backup and was drooling until I realized that I deleted my backup accidentally while I was trying to clear my saves folder. I may continue this again, but if I am lucky enough to recover the copy. I was able to recover it using DataRecovery but it was a corrupted copy. I have tried system restore and it doesn't seem to work. :(
