Diagnosis not good for West: Byron Scott

New Orleans Hornets head coach Byron Scott has announced in a press conference today that starting power-forward has broken a bone in his foot. West, who injured himself against New Jersey last night, has not spoken to the media, but his manager released a statement saying: "David is distraught by his recent injury. An injury of this kind would usually leave someone on the sideline for at least 2 weeks, and David is heart-broken that he will not be able to play these games." New Orleans Head Coach, Byron Scott, also announced in the press conference that it is a blow to lose West. "David has been in incredibly good form of late, and it is a big setback to lose him to injury. I also would like to thank David, who, despite his injury, returned to the game last night, and helped seal the win during the clutch moments of the game."
West, who went down early in the 2nd quarter, was originally cleared to play by Hornets' head trainer Terry Kofler. Kofler diagnosed West with a hairline fracture in his foot, that did not need serious attention. However, it is believed that upon returning to the game, West agravated the injury, which was later diagnosed as a spiral fracture in his Intermediate Cuneiform.
West, who scored 42 points in the game last night, was 2nd in the overall points tally, behind Mavericks Superstar Dirk Nowitski. However, with this injury, West is likely to fall from the rankings all-together.
Byron Scott says, "It's a big disapointment for David, who was certainly in contention for the scoring championship."
Scott also announced that with Wests' injury, Chris Andersen will slot into the Power Forward position, and Tyson Chandler will return to starting Center.
