No surprise as the 76ers draft their next star.
Jun. 26, 2008.
Katie Mushter.
And so it is done, the 76ers have drafted their next two rookies, Dave Rutherford and Kate Tutle. The 76ers forfeited Detroit's second round draft pick, which they had the rights to. The 76ers came away with a win tonight, drafting not only a big PF/C that is already better than more than half of his new team, but also a young SG in Kate Tuttle that has the potential to go big.
"We are very proud to have these two new kids in our team. The whole franchise believes that just with these picks we have made an improvement. More so, we have drafted [Dave Rutherford] who wasn't necessarily first pick material but still amazing, and Tuttle, who would've been drafted in the first round pretty early if this would've been an average draft. Our team recognizes that we caught a very big break with this first pick, but we cannot rest on the shoulders of these two rookies and expect even a winning season. There is a lot more change to come, get ready". Those were the words of newly hired VP and GM of the 76ers, Dennis Lindsey.
We'll see what happens, but one thing's for sure. If Rutherford isn't first pick material, I don't know what is!
