Derek Anderson arrives at Boston

Celtics have finally found the substitute SF they were looking for. After talking with Phoenix for Jalen Rose, negotiations came down because Suns didnt have enough salary space to make a trade. Doc Rivers wanted a similar player to him and decided that Derek Anderson was a good idea. In exchange, Boston sent Theo Ratliff to Charlotte.
With this trade, Boston wins the experienced substitue SF they wanted, who can brings rest to Paul Pierce. Anderson is a good shooter, a clutch guy and with good experience (He's NBA champion). Also, they can clear the salary cap. Ratliff's salary was an 11 millons one, while Anderson's only 1.3 millions and he's an upcoming free agent, so his renew will depend on his performances.

11 million vs 1.3 million and DA's on the last year of his contract? that's a huge opening in sal cap, even if DA doesn't perform well this season; great deal for your Celtics; well done (Y)

Whoa, third times a charm! Never checked this because of all the restarts, but the final result is a very polished dynasty. Nice work! This is like the Wizards one that -km- had. If you keep this up, and don't blow the roster up too much, this will be big.

I guess that those restarts made me think about what i want from my dinasty; Now i realised that i dont want to change the starting five, just get new substitutes to make the team more balanced.

Awesome trade cerv, cleared a lot of cap space so at the end of the season you can look to sign a high priority player, also a great move because Anderson will probably have a bigger impace then Theo's 1 point and 2 rebounds, good luck to derek in his first game (Y)

2 Wins and 2 Losts

The week was suposed to have 3 easy games (Knicks, Sixers and Bobcats) and an almost impossible rival as Nuggets.
It started in an excellent way, with an win over classic rivals New York Knicks for 115-99. Paul Pierce had a good night, scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Al Jefferson also played good basketball, finishing the match with 23 points, but shooting an excesive 11/25 FG. Delonte West was the only Celtic that recorded a double-double, with 15 points and 10 asists. Sebastien Telfair brought 11 points from the bench, added to 6 asists; Derek Anderson made his debut his new team: He played 12 minutes, scoring 6 points and 3 rebounds. Olowokandi was important, grabbing an amazing sum of 10 rebounds in only 23 minutes. Stephon Marbury was the best Knicks player, scoring 19 points and 8 asists, shooting only 8/11 FG.
Game versus Sixers was easy for Boston, during the 2nd an 3rd quarter they took a difference of 17 points, very important to win the game, considering that it was won by 14 points. Paul Pierce played as he is used to, scoring 32 points, 7 asists and 5 rebounds. Kendrick Perkins aported 11 rebounds, while Wally Szczerbiak scored 12 points from the bench. In Sixers only Iguodala and Miller remembered how to play basketball. Between them, they scored 40 of the team's 80 points. Philadelphia's lack of rotation made them loose the match.
Visit to Denver was known to be a really difficult one. Boston only could take some difference only during the 4th quarter, wich they won by 4 points. Paul Pierce didnt repeat his last performances, this time he scored onnly 16 points, while Al Jefferson took the lead of the team finishing the game with 22 points. Marcus Camby had one of the best games of his career, scoring 24 points and grabbing 16 reobunds, added to 4 amazing blocks. Carmelo Anthony was unstoppable for Celtics defense when he was in the court. He scored 23 points in only 28 points, shooting 10/16 FG.
After Nuggets, Boston had a trip to Charlotte, where they were suposed to beat Bobcats, although this team's good record. Despite loosing the match, Paul Pierce was named player of the game, due to his 36 points and 6 asists. Gerald Green finished with 12 points, with 8 of them from the FT line. Derek Anderson oly played 7 minutes, but it was enough to give 4 asists and score 1 point. In Bobcats, Emeka Okafor finished recording a double-double (24 points and 14 rebounds). Theo Ratliff had an special game against the team that traded him and wanted to take reveange: He grabbed 7 rebounds, but only scored 2 points in 15 minutes.

Iguodala frustated an excellent week for Boston

Celtics expected to win both games of week number 9. Both Warriors and Celtics were suposed to be middle-difficulty rivals to Celtics, that's in a great moment.
Game versus Warriors was a very even one. Golden State won the 1st 2 quartes, taking an advantage of 3 points at the half time. Doc Rivers motivated his team and the result was an excellent 3th quarter, winning it by 10 points. In the 4th quarter, Boston dedicated their energies to keep the resul safe. Paul Pierce scored 27 points, shooting only 10/17 FG. Perkins recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds; Derek Anderson had his first 10+ points game at Boston. He scored 11 points (7 from the FT line) in only 8 minutes. Sixth man Wally Szczerbiak had another good game, bringing 13 points (5/7 FG) in just 15 minutes. Baron Davis scored 23 points for Warrios, but it was not enought to beat Pierce and his Celtics.
Philadelphia's visit to Boston started in a good way for Celtics, that won the 1st quarter by 11 points. Maybe this made the team relax during the 2nd quarter, that was lost by 14 points (49-52 at the half). Celtics entered the 4th quarter, loosing by 5 points, not a big difference but it was going to be difficult to revert. Boston was 1 point behind Sixers and they had the las possesion. Al Jefferson received a foul while shooting, so he had 2 FT's to win the game. He missed the first one, but made the 2nd, what made a close ending for the game. With 1.1 seconds remaining, Iguodala took a jump shot that decided the game. Any one at Boston could believe his lucky. Pierce and Jefferson recorded a double-double each of them (Pierce: 28 points, 10 rebounds / Jefferson: 16 points, 11 rebounds). Andre Iguodala, apart from the winning shot, had an incredible game, scoring 28 points; Andre Miller helped with 19 points and 7 asists.

Also nice trade! Anderson is a great pick up and he can play the 1, 2 and 3 positions. Very nice GM work!

Celtics complete a perfect trip to the west with 3 wins

Week 10 was the most difficult up to the moment. Celtics had to go to the west and play against Nuggets, Clippers and Warriors.
First game versus Warriors was suposed to be an almost impossible one, but Boston won the game clearly. The 1st and 2nd quarters were even ones, but Celtics took a little advantage of 1 point. 3rd and 4th ones were Boston's party, winning them by 33 points. Paul Pierce finished with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 asists; while Wally Szczerbiak scored 21 points from the bench and Derek Anderson (also from the bench) scored 10 in just 8 minutes. Nuggets shot a horrible 2/18 from the 3 point line. This, compared to Celtics excellent 8/13, was important for the final result. Marcus Camby recorded a double-double, with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Game against Clippers was decided in the last quarter, where Celtics won it by 13 points, due to their amazing number of 38 points. Paul Pierce was named player of the game (once more), with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Gerald Green had a good night, scoring 14 points shooting 3/4 FG and 7/8 FT. Los Angeles Power Forward Elton Brand was unstoppable for Celtics defense; he finished the match with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
Celtics beat Warriors in a close match, but the 13 points difference at the half time was important for Boston. Paul Pierce scored 32 points and 6 asists, while Al Jefferson recorded a double-double, with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sebastian Telfair had the game of his life: Coming from the bench (in only 21 minutes), he scored 11 points and gave 11 asists. Warriors Harrington was hard to stop for Jefferson and Perkins; he ended the game with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The 2.1 spg will definately help win the award. I reckon he should win it, so far....

Anyway Cerv, Nice week (Y)

Another nice review, another nice month for your Celtics!

Blazers are still going great, 5th in a West and Roy getting his 2nd ROTM in a row. You are a great chance at playoffs, while you are 8 games ahead of 9th in the conference. Keep up this consistancy and you will go deep into the playoffs! (Y)
