One of the best recaps I have seen on this forum! Very informative! Nice idea about "Thunder dunk of the night" also (Y)

J-Rich was tearing it up! I expect to see more from him throughout the season....

hey thx guys!

'rulez - good move to pick up Charlie V; only his second year and already i could barely contain him in that last game against Bucks; look forward to many battles against him in the future; got a feeling he's gonna have craaazy stats and be the next Duncan...

scoop - haha yeah Thunder's a hoot; if you've ever been to a Warriors game he usually does a trampoline dunk show during the 4th Qtr which gets the crowd pumped

3pk - spent a little time in east coast Australia - awesome memories and the people are ripper! - BD#5

GAME RECAP

    Jason Richardson would only play 13 minutes due to foul trouble but would deliver a stellar performance in the clutch to give the Golden State Warriors their first victory of the young '06-07 season against the Toronto Raptors. With the game tied 101-101 with 2:04 minutes left in the 4th, Richardson would drain a three-pointer over Raptors Guard Mo Peterson then complete a 3-point conversion moments later with a drive in the lane and foul, giving the Warriors a 109-103 lead at the 1:15 mark. Richardson would finish the night with 20 points and 4 fouls in 13 minutes of play

    Toronto would trade baskets in the final minute but Forward Steven Jackson would sink a tough jumper in the lane to pad a Warriors' 111-105 lead then calmly sink free throws in the final seconds to seal the win. He would comment on Richardson's shot, "Yeah, that was big. It was anyone's game up to that point. But when J-Rich sank that shot, he gave us momentum. From there, I knew we were going to win" Jackson would finish with 17 points and 5 assists

    But if Richardson was 'the Clutch,' then Baron Davis was 'the Anchor,' leading the way for the Warriors with an astounding 41 points off 11-for-18 shooting, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Throughout the game Davis would punish the smaller Toronto guards, driving the paint and drawing fouls, and finished a remarkable 15-for-15 from the free throw stripe

    "When J-Rich went out, Nellie told me, 'You're on,' and I felt I like had to pick up the slack so I just kept attacking," Davis said. He would finish the game with 41 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals but commit a team-high 5 turnovers

    "They're a tough team to play especially when BD get's it goin'. He really pushes the tempo, kind of like what we're trying to do here... only they did it better," said Toronto Point Guard, TJ Ford. Ford would have a solid game, finishing with 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals but would also commit 5 turnovers and foul out in the final minutes

    "Baron's a handful. He doesn't let up, no matter what you do to him," said future All-Star, Chris Bosh, who would lead the Raptors with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots

    Recent free-agent point guard acquisition, Andre Miller, would contribute 8 points and 1 assist in 15 minutes of play in his 2nd game as a Raptor. Miller left the Philadelphia 76ers to sign a 11.92M, 2-year contract with Toronto this season

    The third Quarter was particularly heated as the Raptors stepped up their defense and physical play. Tense moments came from the floor when Warriors Forward, Al Harrington, would injure his knee on a hard foul by Toronto's 2nd year Forward, Brandon Bass, a recent free agent acquired from the New Orleans Hornets during the off season. Only minutes later, Forward Keith Van Horn would deliver a second hard foul taking down Warriors Guard, Monta Ellis. This would send Warriors Coach Don Nelson over the edge, who would have some harsh words for the officiating, nearly picking up a technical and would not appreciate having his reaction caught on camera. "That kind of play is just uncalled for in professional sports," Nelson said following the game. "Our guys are out there playing hard and trying to win; not trying to injure anybody. I really hope the tapes are looked at. I'd be disappointed if no fines are handed out"

    Harrington would re-enter the game in the 4th and finish with 8 points and team-high 15 rebounds but Ellis, who finished with 14 points, reaggravated his back which he injured during yesterday's game in a mid-air collison with Bucks Forward, Charlie Villanueva, and would not return

    Notes:

    Forward Kenyon Martin would play sparingly, totaling 4 points and 4 rebounds in 14 minutes;

    Rookie Guard, Kevin Olajakundi, would score his first points as a Warrior finishing the game with 3 points and 3 assists in 10 minutes;

    As a team, the Warriors would shoot 50% from the three-point arc

Nice! You got a win on the board. Great game by Baron, he is a freak. Nice to see J-Rich with the Thunder dunk again...

I love the way you have the recaps. They are one of the best recaps in the NLSC, in my oppinion. Can't wait for you to destroy the Grizzlies! Take it to them!

thx all - yeah 2006 version of Live (chris paul's rookie year), with lineups updated to '06-07 rosters MINUS the Bargnani rookie draft class (so no Brandon Roy, Adam Morrison etc); i figure in Dynasty Mode it's not as impt since the comp generates rookies in the years to come anyway, unless i felt like i really really had to have a particular player from the '06-07 draft in the game (which i didn't)

MEM@GS just went down. let's just say - INTENSE

GAME RECAP

    Kedrick Brown.

    A name that will forever be etched in memory for Warriors fans lucky enough (or 'unlucky' depending on how you see it) to attend last night's triple over-time home-opener defeat to the visiting Memphis Grizzlies at Oracle Arena. Kedrick Brown would simply take over the game in the final minutes in front of the Warriors' home crowd to hand Golden State it's second loss of the season

    Brown, a 5th year Forward, would score 9 of the Grizzlies' last 13 points in the 3rd and final overtime period, hitting clutch basket after clutch basket. Then, with the outcome still undecided and Memphis leading 155-153 with 39.5 seconds on the clock, Brown would drive hard to the basket and finish a spectacular layup, knifing through three Warriors defenders, to give the Grizzlies a 4 point edge. The Warriors would fail to convert at the other end and free throws would seal the Memphis win. But the Warriors would not be without their opportunities to win it

    At the start of the game, the Grizzlies would come out firing, led by an unstoppable Pau Gasol and take an early 11-2 lead. Warriors Center, Andris Biedrins, would be helpless against the stronger, quicker Gasol who would score at will and force Biedrins to pick up 2 quick fouls. Biedrins would spend the remainder of the game in foul trouble and finish with 6 points and 4 blocks

    Kenyon Martin would make a sensational home debut, saving his best game as a Warrior for the home fans, defending against Gasol and providing the Warriors several second chance opportunities, something which the Warriors greatly lacked last season. Crashing the boards and gathering rebounds, Martin would provide firepower off the bench and combined with teammate, Al Harrington, for 38 of the Warriors' 57 rebounds to finish the game with an impressive 12 points, 19 rebounds in a season high 32 minutes of play. Harrington would also have a solid game finishing with 17 points, 19 rebounds and 2 steals

    "I knew I wanted my home debut to be special and memorable but I never expected anything like this. Gotta be careful what you ask for I guess," Martin said after the game

    The game would see-saw back and forth through regulation, both teams going on runs at various times but neither team able to establish a lead of more than single digits. Jason Richardson would give the Warriors a 109-106 lead with 39.7 left in regulation on a drive plus foul, three-point play but Grizzlies' Kedrick Brown would answer, nailing a three from beyond the arc with 31 seconds left to tie the game at 109-109

    The Warriors would then appear to throw the game away in regulation when veteran point guard, Damon Stoudemire, would intercept a bad inbound pass by Forward, Steven Jackson, leading to an uncontested layup and 111-109 Grizzlies' lead. But Andris Biedrins, grabbing his only rebound of the night off a Golden State missed shot attempt, would convert the put back to tie the game again at 111-111 with 23 seconds left in regulation. Gasol would be forced into a bad shot from beyond the three-point arc by the terrific defense of Martin to end regulation

    The score would toggle back and forth during the first overtime period, a different person seeming to step up and hit the big shot each possession. In the final minutes, Stephen Jackson would convert a huge drive-and-1 for a three-point play to tie the game at 125-125 with 28.7 seconds left in the 1st over-time but neither team would score on their final possessions, forcing a second overtime period

    "Yeah, you always want to win your home opener for the fans. This one's gonna hurt for a while," Jackson said. Jackson finished with a double-double, collecting 15 points, 11 rebounds and 2 steals

    Entering the second overtime period, the Warriors would take off on an 8-0 run and seemed to have the game finally under control until Jason Richardson would drive the paint and collide hard with Grizzlies' 2nd year Forward Hakim Warrick, injuring his elbow and leaving the game with 1:47 left on the clock. With the Warriors up 7, Mike Miller would drain a trey to close the gap 140-136 and Memphis would continue to chip away at the lead. Baron Davis would connect after launching a huge desperation three with 2 seconds on the shot clock and 14 seconds in the game, giving the Warriors a 145-142 lead and what looked like the victory. But Grizzlies' Stoudemire, would prove otherwise, draining a deep three pointer leaving 1.2 on the clock and forcing a third overtime. Stoudemire would finish with a double-double 30 points, 10 assists and 3 steals

    When asked about the clutch shot, Stoudemire said, "Which one? Mine? Kendrick's? Pau? Baron? J-Rich? There was so many of 'em out there, I lost count"

    In the third overtime, the Warriors would finally falter, as Baron Davis would fouled out at the 2:22 mark setting the stage for Brown's late game heroics. Davis would finish with a double-double 40 points, 13 assists and 5 steals. It would be the first time in his career he would score 40+ in consecutive games

    "Nah, I don't care about that right now. Maybe one day I might look back and think, that was something special, but right now all I feel is the loss," Baron said

    Jason Richardson would return to the game at the 1:43 mark of the final overtime period giving Warrior fans a glimmer of hope, but would show affects of his earlier injury, missing two key free throws with Memphis ahead 153-150 and leaving Kedrick Brown's offense and Pau Gasol's defense to dominate the rest of the way. Gasol would have a monstrous night both offensively and defensively, leading the Grizzlies in scoring and blocks and ending the game with and incredible 37 points, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks and 2 assists while Brown would have terrific all-around game finishing with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists

    "Man... felt like two hungry pitbulls battling over the same bone. Neither of us wanted to give in. It was intense. I'm just sorry to all the fans we didn't come through with the win," Richardson said. He would finish the game with 45 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds

    Mike Miller would leave the game and not return after a hard foul and awkward landing at the 1:24 mark of the third overtime. "I was spent. I got hit in the air and just landed wrong but the knee's not swelling too bad; it'll be good before next game," Miller said. He would finish with 27 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds

    Coach Nelson said following the game, "Now that was something special. What an unbelievable game and I'm proud of our guys for being a part of it. Everyone, on both sides, played tremendous basketball and left everything they had on the floor; you really can't ask for anything more than that. Brown hit the tough shots for them down the stretch and stole the win so our guys come up on the short end of the stick tonight; but we're gonna learn from this as a team and move on. Luckily, it's a long season"

    Notes:

    Both teams combined for 321 total points (second highest to 370 scored by the Detroit Pistons (186) at the Denver Nuggets (184) in 3 overtimes on December 13, 1983);
    10 players scored in double digits;
    7 players posted double-doubles;
    Richardson and Davis combined for 85 of the Warriors 158 points;
    Richardson and Davis' 85 points becomes the highest point total for a Warriors tandem, overtaking Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison's record of 78 combined points vs Dallas back on March 14, 2003 (made this up but sounds like it could've happened, huh?);
    Jelani McCoy was the only player of both rosters not to receive any playing time

Woah! What a game! 3 overtimes?!?!? That is nuts!

I think you will beat the Knicks. I hope so anyway....
Also good to see Martin getting some game time. Do you think you might start him now because he played well and Biedrins played like shit?

Great Dynasty!

WOW thats crazy what a game and great dynasty

Superb game by martin 12 points and 19 boards is great of the bench u should start him IMO coz Biedrins is 'JUNK' and some he is terrible and playing it too also a shuffle would be realistic considering such a good team is struggling early in the season (Y)

P.S another good dunk by J-Rich he is an absolute king in the air

yeah really early; i think 'Coach Nellie' keeps the regular starters for at least a few more games to see if a shuffle is really necessary;

Hahah! yeah the Grizz are a tough matchup for sure (and seeing Pau with no facial hair is just weird; i may have to tinker around and see if i can get his updated model in the game without screwing up anything); it was am awesome (and stressful!) game to watch; looking forward to the rematch for sure

Pete Tipton's pre-game scouting report - Orlando Magic

GAME RECAP

The Golden State Warriors have long forgotten their heartbreaking, triple overtime, home-opener defeat less than a week ago with last night's victory in front of the home crowd against the visiting Orlando Magic, giving the team it's second consecutive win of the season

Rebounding would be key to the Warriors' victory, out hustling the Magic 44 to 29, led by Forward, Al Harrington. Harrington, who resigned a 6-year contract worth 57.9M this season, was coming off a 16 point, 13 rebound night in New York and would have another terrific game, posting his second consecutive double-double and finishing with 13 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists

"We did a great job containing Howard; but I was really surprised about that rookie," Harrington said referring to Orlando's 6'8" rookie Power Forward, Chris Domi, from Triteni, Romania, drafted 15th overall by the Magic this season. Domi would have an impressive debut at Oracle Arena finishing the night with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks

"Their defense was mainly focused on Dwight which gave me lots of opportunities to score,"
Dormi said

Dwight Howard, the Magic's franchise player and rising league premiere big man, would be frustrated all night by the Warriors' swarming defense. "They are quick, fast and help each other out defensively very well; it was hard to get into any kind of rhythm," Howard said. He would finish below season averages with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks

Golden State led by as many as 10 with just under 5 minutes of play but Orando would mount a late charge led by Orlando's third-year Point Guard, Jameer Nelson. The Magic would close within two with just under ten seconds but Baron Davis would calmly sink free throws down the stretch to seal the Warriors' win. Nelson would lead the Magic in scoring, finishing with 33 points, 7 assist and 3 steals but would foul out in the final seconds of the game. Davis would lead all scorers for the Warriors, ending the night with 26 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals including 13-of-17 from the free throw line

"I'm really glad we we're able to get this one, especially for the fans. My free throws? Yeah, I really worked on that during the off season knowing that I'd try to penetrate the lane and get to the basket more this year. Now I just gotta work on taking care of the ball a little better," Davis said, referring to his team-high 7 turnovers

With the win Golden State now improves to 3-2 while Orlando drops to 1-4

Well first of all the Memphis game, well done by J-Rich going 12-21 good effort and a great game from the line for Baron i think he only missed one, 11-12 or something along those lines. I really think K-Mart should be promoted soon he is playing much better then Biedrins so it would be a ligitament move. Also nice work to move 2-2.

Now refering to the second game against Orlando; Awesome effort the two guards combining for 47 and a massive game again by Harrington he is in superb form and is almost unstoppable and well done to Biedrins for picking it up a bit.

Good luck for the rest of the year,I hope it's good to be over 500%: 3-2 (Y)
