November, 3rd

First home game for the Atlanta Hawks when the New York Knicks will visit Phillips Arena for tonights matchup. Coming of an enormous blowout against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday (73-110) the Knicks will try to make something happen in their second consecutive road game before hosting the Indiana Pacers and the San Antonio Spurs in the Garden next week.
It seems like the team has still not found itself. Many new faces and a new coach with Isaiah Thomas pay their price at the moment. Offensively the Knicks had problems to run plays consequently and ended up in giving the ball into the post to Eddy Curry or to their guards for isolation plays. Curry will cause trouble for the Hawks defensively but is still a weak rebounder which caused several problems to the team against the Grizzlies. Defensively the Knicks should do better than last game in which they just stopped playing after the 3rd. "The focus is on playing tough defense making them play on offense they way we want", Coach Thomas claims. "And to defend Joe Johnson ..".
Johnson had 30 points in Wednesday´s game vs the 76ers, also hitting the game winning shot and dishing out 7 assists. His ability to score is the key of the Hawks offense. Supported by Speedy Claxton in the backcourt and Lorenzen Wright in the post, the Hawks grabbed the win from Philadelphia. But be prepared for Josh Smith, Coach Mike Woodson says."He has improved his shot so well and we are still working with him in extra sessions .. ". Definitely an important game for both, since they are rivaling about a playoff seed in the weak Eastern Conference this year. Tip-Off will be at 10:30 p.m. in the Phillips Arena.

Atlanta, Nov. 3rd(AP) -- Channing Frye leads Knicks past Hawks.

The New York Knicks had quite a few problems two days ago when they were outplayed by the Grizzlies, but suprisingly they bounced back tonight showing a concentrated performance from the very first beginning. They gained a 12 point lead after the first quarter and played terrific defense.
Hawks star Joe Johnson was not able to score one point in the first half of the game. On the other side Channing Frye exploded. He scored 20 points in 22 minutes playing time in the first half. "He has the whole package, he can shoot the ball and is also able to go past his defender with some effective postmoves", Coach Isaiah Thomas praised his sophomore. But not only Frye did a very good job. Also Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis who formed the backcourt for the Knicks. With a 50-35 lead the Knicks went into the half time break. But the Hawks did not want to give the Knicks the win. Speedy Claxton and Joe Johnson combined for 20 of the 27 Hawks points in the 3rd. But Stephon Marbury almost singlehandedly kept the Knicks in the game. He had 13 of his 24 in the 3rd quarter and also handed out 3 assists. His up and under layup with 1:20 seconds to go in the 3rd gave the Knicks a 20 point lead. Eddy Curry left the floor after he was charged for the offensive foul, his 5th, and Knicks felt pretty confident even without him. "This was when I thought of giving playing time to my bench players ... I did not think we had a chance to win this one", Mike Woodson said later. So he gave some playing time to Salim Stoudamire in the 4th who did not play a second in the win over the 76ers. And Stoudamire definitely took use of his chance. He scored 6 points in a row and gave the Hawks the courage they needed. He was also able to draw the foul and send Stephon Marbury on the bench with 5 fouls. Mike Woodson brought Joe Johnson back in the game. Johnson scored 8 points in a row to make it a 14-0 run for the Hawks with 6:00 left. After a beautiful basket by Curry-replacing Kelvin Cato, Shelden Williams slammed one home. Only up by 6 points the Knicks made the right decision and gave the ball to Frye. He was able to knock down his shots and Atlanta´s following offensive effort was not strong enough. The Knicks win it 105-100 and both teams go 1-1. Next opponent for the Hawks will be the Magic on November the 5th at home.

Oh sweet win for New York, too bad for you...

Enjoyed the pics and videos.. (Y) Awesome job man!

Dynasties are always that much more interesting to look at when you're trying to build a legit contender from a crappy team loaded with potential.

Joe Johnson looks like he's playing fairly well, but being a Williams and Josh Smith fan I'm hoping that they'll see more improvement.

Looks like you need to work on three point shooting as well. I am also finding a tough time knocking down threes in Live 07, but I find that wide open 3 pointers created from dribble penetration are a lot easier to make this time around.

Nice pics and nice viedeos! (Y)
Good luk versus Orlando!

Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:29 am

(Y) Good job on this dynasty. This IS the example for everyone else to follow when posting their own.

(I've seen some other good ones too but none as complete as this.)

Also Hova how did you get the cyberfaces? :?:

Try getting LaMarcus Aldridge or Andrew Bogut or something like that.

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:06 am

Greats vidz and stuff !

PS: Make the vidz longeeerr !! =P

Mon Dec 04, 2006 4:06 am

Enjoyed the pics and vids. Too bad Knicks were playing well at this game. And your bench proved to have extra energy to give and you managed to close the Knocks' lead. (Y)

Mon Dec 04, 2006 6:12 am

Pursuer, thx, well sweet win for New York is not what I wanted ;) , but glad you like it.

Its_asdf, thx, glad you share the joy of forming a contender, I think Marv and Josh are pretty contributing, at least Marv gives me many boards. Smith should improve his shot, that is my main aim with him. For threepoint shooting, I usually do not have these problems, but JJ is often doubled and I do only hit with him when he is a "Shooter"FFS, except the game winner vs 76ers. My other players just cant shoot threes.

looser, thx for your interest, glad you like it

bob.cold15, thank you, this is a huge compliment. If you mean the cyberfaces at the roster presentation, they are just from editing player, but I changed the background. I think I wont do any trades, maybe before the deadline .. well see.

Scorer--20, I did not feel anything special, since these Knicks are not the same mine were (Francis :x ) but I liked the way Frye did ;) . For the Vids, I did not like to release them since they are kinda weak, but I just did not have the time for better ones, maybe in two three weeks when the holidays begin.

Marquis, Oh yeah, they did quite good, Marbury´s slashing was really good. Glad you like my stuff ;)

your write-ups r really good man :D :!: (Y)

November, 5th

Second consecutive game at home for the Atlanta Hawks when they will face the Orlando Magic tonight in the Phillips Arena. After the loss vs the New York Knicks, the Hawks are willed to gain their first home victoy. "We had strong support by our fans in the last game, it was a shame that we were not able to give them the win", Joe Johnson, Hawks leading scorer, said. It was just not the Hawks´ night although they did not play that weak. Knicks were simply better and maybe the Knicks are not the Knicks they were last year. "I do not think that this is a disgrace or anywhere near it", Mike Woodson told the press the day after the loss. It is too early in the season to point out any problems of a team, Atlanta´s toughest part of the game was maybe the threepoint shooting. But they should be able to improve. Talking about weak parts of the game, Orlando definitely had one in their last two home losses against the Bulls and the 76ers. Rebounding was the keyword. Only 35.0 rebounds per game for the Magic although they have a well known rebounder: Dwight Howard. And he is the problem. Don´t get me wrong, Dwight is never a problem for any team. But the Magic just rely too much on him. Grant Hill can score, we all know. JJ Redick, Hedo Turkoglu and Keyon Dooling or Jameer Nelson can shoot. But who is there to grab the boards when Dwight Howard is not contributing. Like vs the 76ers where he fouled out in the 4th and had been in foul trouble all game long. The Magic hope that he will find his shape in time, or this start of the season will be remembered for a long time. Also rumours are spreading that the Magic want to acquire another Center. Tip-Off will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Phillips Arena.

The Suns signed guard Andre Emmet for one year. Closer terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Suns felt like needing another backup guard in case that the long season will tire their backcourt players.

November, 5th
The 76ers today announced the signing of Power Forward Mario Kasun. The Croatian who played for the Magic last season is supposed to help them as a backup for Chris Webber. He signed for 1 year.
Rodney Buford signed with the Torotno Raptors today as the Raptors told the media in a press conference given before their road game against the Cavaliers. Buford signed a 2-year deal which will bring him about 4M$.

Rumours about Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway signing with the Dallas Mavericks were rejected by the Mavericks today. Penny is working very hard at the moment and tries to make a comeback in the league.
Another rumour involving the Charlotte Bobcats and Michael Olowokandi are spreading, but both sides remain mute about an potential deal. This one seems to be undecidable.

What about Penny re-entering the league ?

Orlando doesn't have big chances, they rebounding is (N) , not to mention PPG and field goal %, also they lost both games at home, they suck at the moment... You could get a pretty easy win, step it up!

Good luck against Magic, kick their asses!

Hawks beat Magic in first home win

Atlanta, Nov. 5th(AP) -- Marvin Williams´ 20 points and 14 rebounds help Hawks past Magic.

The Atlanta Hawks achieved their first home win of the season after a disappointing first try against the New York Knicks on Monday. In front of full seats in the Phillips Arena, the Hawks began really well. Joe Johnson, league´s 2nd best scorer at the moment, was the main offensive weapon and knocked down three long jumpers in a row showing his touch early. He had great support by Marvin Williams. The Sophomore grabbed 6 boards in the first half and scored 12 points, several on offensive boards. The Magic could not stop the Hawks defensively but were able to cause some damage offensively. Grant Hill was their main man and scored 17 points in the first two quarters but Dwight Howard was also doing way better than in the last losses. The Hawks led by 8 at the half. The Magic who had showen lack of consistency in the last games were again completely changed in the second half. Dwight Howard stepped up and had a terrific play when he drove passed Joe Johnson and slammed it down with emphasis. Two of his 16 points, he also had 15 rebounds in the ballgame.
"Although we lost, we showed a lot of improvement. I was really contented with Dwight and Grant playing together", Coach Brian Hill told the media afterwards. With 5:30 left to go, Jameer Nelson hit a shot from top of the key to give the Magic their first lead of the game. And their only lead. Joe Johnson countered with a very beaufitful play hanging between two defenders in the air and hitting the tough layup. Speedy Claxton had an important steal and converted it on the fastbreak to give the momentum back to the Hawks. With 10:58 Marv Williams hit a three to give the Hawks a 7 point lead, it was the only three by the Hawks. "He did not only play awesomely good, he also showed his ability to hit important shots", Coach Mike Woodson said about Williams."We tend to rely on (Johnson) in these situations, but he is another possibility". The Magic were never able to get within more than 4 points and had to foul late in the game to stop the clock. Hawks´ Salim Stoudamire showed why he is a .900% freethrow shooter and hit 5-of-6 to give the Hawks a 96-103 win. Joe Johnson had 25 points and 6 assists but was only 11-30 from the field. Speedy Claxton added 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. For the Magic Grant Hill had 30 points and 12 boards, Darko Milicic added 13 and 13 and Jameer Nelson 13 points and 10 assists. Next game for the Hawks will be on Saturday, 10th of November @Toronto.
