I'll probably put up the standings when the first Power Rankings come out. Currently, the Warriors are tied with the Clippers for 2nd in the West.

I'm also going to see if I can write better recaps in later games. I'm working at it.

Oakland, CA - Baron Davis, already averaging 35 points a game, showed how he could carry a team once more.

Baron Davis had 36 points and 8 assists in a 111-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at home, beating out T.J. Ford's 24 points and 6 assists in a battle of the backcourt. Jason Richardson added 23 points to face Redd's 32, giving the Warriors a crucial 59-56 edge that was felt in the 4th quarter as 3 Warriors starters (Murphy, Dunleavy, and Davis) were on the bench due to foul trouble. Jason Richardson continued his excellent shooting this season, hitting 8 of 12 from the field.

Coming off a rough season, the Bucks put in T.J. Ford at starting point guard, in the place of injured Mo Williams, who was injured in the previous Warriors game. Despite this new role, Ford flourished, and was able to keep the Bucks in the game until the last minute.

After the Bucks trailed 78-68 at the end of the 3rd quarter, Ford led the Bucks on a 11-3 run to close the gap to 81-76, and it was not until Fisher's free throws near the end of the quarter to take the Warriors to a 116-108 lead that the game was sealed. The Warriors went on to win it, 116-101.

Desmond Mason had 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double as well.

Oakland, CA - The Golden State Warriors are on fire. Really.

For the first time in a few games, the Warriors played a decent 4th quarter, holding the Blazers to just 34 points. After the Blazers opened an early quarter run to trim the 81-58 lead to 15 points, the Warriors struck back with a shifting 2-3 zone defense, forcing the Blazers to hit shots from the perimeter, and bringing the lead back up to 29.

In their biggest win of the season, the Warriors crushed the Blazers, 119-92. Jason Richardson led the way for the visitors, with 36 points. Baron Davis added 28 points and 11 assists, and Andris Biedrins added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blazers were never close in the game. They were led by Sebastian Telfair and Zack Randolph's 25 points each.

Los Angeles, CA - The Clippers torched the Warriors.

Shooting from the perimeter, the Clippers scored a season-high 49 points in the 4th, hitting 19/33 from the field and 4/7 on 3's. The Warriors hit none of their 8 3-pointers. Starting from behind 82-78, the Warriors took the lead early in the quarter but lost it as the Clippers made a big run, boosted by their many offensive rebounds. The Clippers outrebounded the Warriors 17-9 in the quarter, which was the decisive factor, helping them win 131-116.

Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, and Cuttino Mobley led the Clippers, with 29, 28, and 22 points respectively. Corey Maggette nearly had a triple-double in the process. Elton Brand and Chris Wilcox also had a double-double, with Wilcox scoring 14 points. Baron Davis scored 34 and Jason Richardson scored 8 for the Warriors.

Recap:

November 23, 2005

Oakland, CA - The Spurs came to town. The Warriors showed them how to play basketball.

The Warriors stunned the Spurs at the Arena, snatching a 126-122 win over the NBA champions. Playing without Manu Ginobili, sidelined because of a sore finger, the Spurs led the Warriors 90-83 at the beginning of the 4th and seem poised to expand that lead. The Warriors showed otherwise. Though Baron Davis committed a few lousy turnovers, his other spectacular plays gave easy buckets to Zarko Cabarkapa, Andris Biedrins, and Jason Richardson, creating easy points in the paint and on the perimeter. The Warriors, after cutting the lead to the 100-97, went on a 20-5 run through steals and tight defense to take a 117-105 lead. But when things looked certain at 124-112, Parker led the Spurs back on a 10-0 run, to close within 2 points with less than a minute to go.

Biedrins made a key layup with half a minute to go to take a 4-point lead, but it was by no means certain a Warriors victory. However, Mohammed missed on the other end, and the Warriors got the ball back. Cabarkapa was quickly fouled but missed both free throws. On the final possession, Jason Richardson and Baron Davis nearly forced steals from Tony Parker, and Parker missed his only shot with 4 seconds left. The Warriors go on to win it, 126 to 122. The Spurs were limited to 12/37 shooting from the field in the final quarter, while the Warriors themselves hit 19/30.

Baron Davis led the way with 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists, nearly earning a triple-double. Jason Richardson added 32 points and 7 rebounds, and Mike Dunleavy had 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Biedrins and Murphy also nearly got double-doubles. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan both had 27 points apiece to lead the Spurs, followed closely by Bruce Bowen's 22. Tony Parker also had 12 assists.

Recap:

November 25, 2005

Salt Lake City, UT - The Jazz lost by 5 in their last meeting. This time? 27.

Playing again in their orange jerseys, like in their game in the United Center, the Warriors opened up a huge 86-64 at the end of the 3rd, and extended it to as much as 29 in the 4th. While the Jazz at one point cut it down to 15 when the Warriors played reserves, the Warriors quickly regained it when starters returned, even through foul trouble. The Warriors ended up outscoring the Jazz in all 4 quarters to win 127-100.

Baron Davis led the Warriors on 14/22 shooting for 42 points, and was joined by Troy Murphy's 9/17 for 20 points. Jason Richardson, on a slump, only had 16 points on 4/16 shooting. Murphy also had 12 rebounds to add to his points. The Jazz were led by Deron Williams, who scored 28. Two Jazz players had double-doubles: Boozer with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Kirilenko with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Oakland, CA - The Warriors have more than shooting fanatics in Baron Davis and Jason Richardson.

Andris Biedrins had 8 blocks in the first half of the 4th quarter alone, and one more the rest of the way, as he finished with 11 blocks in the entire game. This defensive presence proved to shut down the Raptors in the all-crucial 4th quarter, as the Warriors began the quarter with Baron Davis and Troy Murphy on the bench. After the Raptors led 105-102 with 5 minutes to go, both starters returned to the game and led the Warriors on a 16-6 run to put the Warriors up 118-111 with 1:43 remaining.

With 21.9 seconds to go, the Warriors led 124-122. Alston missed a jumper for the Raptors, and Biedrins rebounded. He was quickly fouled and missed both free throws. As the Raptors moved in to tie or win the game, Baron Davis and Troy Murphy trapped Araujo at the baseline, forcing him to fall out of bounds. Davis was then quickly fouled, and made both free throws. Toronto, out of desperation, threw another long pass, and turned it over to Biedrins, who then made 1 of 2 free throws to give the Warriors a 127-122 lead.

Alston made a final 3-pointer at the end to trim the lead 127-125 with 2.4 seconds left, but it was too late. The Warriors ran the clock down and won the game, 127-125.

In addition to Biedrin's exploits with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 blocks, Jason Richardson also scored 40 points after hitting 16/22 from the field, and Baron Davis added 21 points. Dunleavy had another double-double, with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Alston led the Raptors with 36 points and 10 assists, and Chris Bosh added 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Oakland, CA - The Warriors need to be better at defense.

The Warriors were exterminated in the 4th quarter, crushed 54-35 by the Kings in the quarter. The Warriors' lack of defense seems to have finally gotten to them, as they allow the most points they've ever had in its franchise history. Leading 86-79, they allowed the Kings to get away with 22/40 shooting in another rapid-firing quarter.

The Kings had four players in double digits (Miller 24, Stojakovic 32, Bibby 28, Wells 20), and the Warriors had 5 (Richardson 29, Dunleavy 22, Davis 21, Fisher 14, Murphy 12). J-Rich recorded another double-double with his 11 rebounds.

With this embarassing loss to their Northern California rivals, we should expect the Warriors to play better defense and slow games down a bit.

Thank you!

Seattle, WA - The Warriors are back on the road in their alternate orange jerseys. And their next game is the first one on national TV, on ESPN against the Rockets, back at home!

Tied 80-80 at the end of the 3rd, the Warriors ran a half-court offense, sending the ball to their big men. With Murphy and Richardson out once again due to foul trouble (with Murphy actually fouling out late in the 4th), Cabarkapa, Biedrins, and Tskitishvili stepped it up. The Warriors crushed the Sonics, with only Ridnour, Lewis, and Allen able to convert anything at all, outrunning the Sonics on their home court 44-31 in the final quarter. Even the Sonics' fast breaking was slowed down.

The Warriors had six figures in double digits. Mike Dunleavy led the way with 28, followed by Andris Biedrins' 22, Baron Davis' 17, Jason Richardson's 15, Zarko Cabarkapa's 14, and Troy Murphy's 11. Biedrins added 14 rebounds, Murphy added 11 rebounds, and Baron Davis added 9 assists. The Sonics were led by starting point guard Luke Ridnour with 24, followed by Rashard Lewis' 23, Radmanovic's 21, Ray Allen's 17, and Fortson's 15. Fortson also added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Zarko Cabarkapa suffered a leg injury at the 4 minute mark of the 4th quarter and was unable to return. Andris Biedrins' 22 points is the highest of his career, and this is right after his not-serious injury at the Pistons game.

Baron Davis and Jason Richardson remain the top 2 scorers in the league, with 29.4 and 27.1 PPG each. Baron Davis also was Western Conference Player of the Month for November. Baron Davis is 2nd in field goals made and attempted. Baron Davis and Jason Richardson, respectively, lead the NBA in free throws made and attempted. Andris Biedrins still leads the NBA in blocks, leading Shaq by 2 with 59 blocks at 2.81 blocks a game (2nd only to Shaq). Baron Davis averages 2.76 steals a game, 3rd in the league after Larry Hughes and Ron Artest, but leads the NBA in assists, with 8.7 a game, just over Steve Nash. However, surprisingly, Baron Davis is not a leader in total number of minutes, and neither is Richardson. However, Richardson is tied for 8th most number of minutes a game, with 40.6.

Rockets (11-8) @ Warriors (17-4)

Oakland, CA - The Warriors win on national television!

As Steve Kerr and Marv Albert commentated, the Warriors played their basketball. Coming into the 3rd quarter up 101-87, the Rockets made a run up to the halfway mark to cut the lead to 112-107, with Pietrus suffering a sprained elbow injury that'll sideline him for 2 weeks and Barry taking an upper body injury in that period. However, the Warriors made their own run, limiting the Rockets to just one field goal for the next 4 minutes, as the Warriors went on a 14-2 run to get a 126-109 lead. The Rockets would go 9-0 in the last 2:04, but it was too late. The Warriors come up with the win, 126-118.

The Warriors once again relied extensively on their frontcourt, whether on the bench or not, while the Rockets relied primarily on the backcourt along with McGrady. The Warriors have definitely seen changes in their play style, as they've slowed down many plays to a half-court set, and they now rely more on their frontcourt (Biedrins, Cabarkapa, and Tskitishvili) to make the post-up plays to generate points. While this may mean less points for Richardson and Davis, this may be what the team needs. The Rockets relied mostly on Tracy McGrady and Mike James to score their points. Mutombo had 8 blocks for the Rockets as well, and Jeff Van Gundy elected to start Barry instead of Sura at the SF position. Barry scored 24.

I've just tested Heik's initial 12 minute quarter sliders (but with 65 game speed since it matches perfectly):

Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors

Toronto - Another close game for the Warriors.

After scoring just 12 points in the 1st quarter, the Warriors rallied back in the 3rd to tie it up at 75-75. In a closely decided 4th quarter, the Warriors got their biggest lead at 97-91, but it was the Raptors who led as crunch time began. With 10.0 seconds to go, and the Raptors lead at 121-120, Calderon missed two key free throws, and Baron Davis scored a clutch jumper over Calderon with 0.4 seconds left to clinch a 122-121 victory.

I changed the game speed to 39. It feels a bit too slow, but the scores seem better than before since I run plays quickly. Any ideas for realistic 12-minute sliders that can accomodate game speed of say, 65?

Golden State Warriors @ New Jersey Nets

December 18, 2005

East Rutherford, NJ - Can the Warriors shoot free throws at all?

The Warriors shot just .525 on free throws playing the Nets, and 6/24 in the 4th. They seem to be struggling mightily from the line. They're really going to have to find a solution here.

Despite their poor free throwing, the Warriors hold off the Nets in the 4th quarter. Leading 87-76, the lead fell to 96-93 with 7 minutes to play. However, Baron Davis led the Warriors on a run to 105-95 before the starters took breaks on the bench. During this time, the Nets trimmed the lead to 112-108. With the return of the starters, however, it was too much for the Nets. Despite poor free throwing by the Warriors, the Warriors held off the Nets 119-113.

It was the second game the Warriors played without swingman Mickael Pietrus, who is sidelined with a wrist injury.
