Halftime
Still without Luol Deng, Utah hoped they could learn from their mistakes and keep this one close. Miami helped them out early, showing zone mid-way through the first quarter. The trigger-happy Jazz immediately took advantage of the zone, getting two triples from Matt Bonner and another from Morris Peterson. That was enough for the Heat, who went back to a man-to-man defense, but it didn't phaze Utah at all as they chose instead to go inside to Chris Bosh, Mehmet Okur and Nick Collison, who banged around in the paint settling for either the basket or the foul. The Jazz finshed the quarter strong to take a 28-24 lead. Both teams ended the quarter with peculiar line-ups on the court as Utah played Tyson Chandler, Chris Mihm and Chris Bosh at the 5 through 3 spots and Miami played Rashard Lewis at the 1.
An early 11-0 run to start the quarter second propelled Miami to a 35-28 lead, and although the Heat again showed zone the Jazz were unable to convert their three-point attempts this time. With the threes not falling, the Jazz drove hard to the basket and made those shots but Miami matched them shot for shot to keep a 53-48 lead into halftime. Utah scored with a balanced atack and passed the ball equally well and were lucky to be only losing by five points as they shot a sorry 35% for the half.

1. Rasheed Wallace didn't bother Tyson Chandler as he adjusts his shot in mid-air; look for Utah to go to Chandler later on 2. Offensive rebounds like this are what kept the Heat in the game this half 3. Even Raymond Felton was getting in on the Heat's second quarter defensive stop

Halftime Soliloquy
I shot pretty damn bad this half, but by driving to the basket I was able to attempt 16 free throws and hit 15 of them, which is probably what kept me in the game. Curiously, neither of my shots at the buzzer counted even though both went in, leading me to believe that it's completely random whether the shot is counted or not.

Fulltime
The third quarter continued the action of the second as Miami matched Utah basket for basket up until the last four minutes of the quarter when Utah came within one and then pulled ahead to stay ahead on a basket by Peter Robertson, who had 11 points in the quarter. Behind a 71% shooting effot coming from only two-point field goals save one three pointer shot and made, the Jazz rallied to take an 80-78 lead into the final quarter.
The Heat came out strong in the fourth, making their first 5 field goals, but unfortunately allowed Utah to keep the lead as Miami committed three fouls in the first two minutes of the quarter, all of which were non-shooting fouls. Both teams traded baskets and fouls throughout the quarter with the strong play from Utah's Tyson Chandler (20-3-1-2-1) coming to an end with 3:48 to go as he fouled out on a dunk+1 by Antoine Wright. At the 2:00 mark the Jazz started to pull away on three-point shots by both Matt Bonner and Steve Nash, and although the Heat stayed with them, the closest they got was six points back as they were forced to foul Jazz and effectively gave the game away by doing so against a Jazz team who shot 88% from the line tonight.

Fulltime Soliloquy
Once I started hitting my shots in the second quarter it was an easy win because the Heat had to play catch-up with me. I finally was able to find Morris Peterson's stroke from 3 range, something I've been missing all year, which helped a lot. As you can see from the boxscore, this was an incredibly even game for me in all categories, although the CPU doesn't always make the smartest substitutions, at least it's pretty even all-around. Hopefully Deng is back for the next game, with it being a week away that's a good probability. I think I'll move Peterson back into the starting line-up and bump Bonner down to 6th man when Deng comes back, Bonner's been playing really well lately and now that I've found Mo Pete's stroke I should be able to use him to draw the defense out.
