Billups Outshoots Marbury, Knicks
Facing his old team for the second time Lary Brown really wanted his current team to pull out with the win. But Chauncey Billups made sure to keep Detroits winning streak alive and beat his old coach for the second time in the early season. The Knicks offense sputtered early and Stephon Marbury could get his team going. Stephon scored 2 points and took just one shot in 24 minutes.
It was an uncharacteristic game for the point guard who is often criticized for playing with a shoot first mentality.
Billups, who under Brown became a complete guard scored 30 points and handed out 6 assists to lead the Pistons, who behind the dynamic backcourt of Billups and Hamilton held the lead throughout the game and established a 10 point margin in the fourth quarter.
The Knicks were able to hang around and after falling by double digits in the fourth fought back to get within a basket but it was too little too late.
New York didnt take advantage of a great game from Eddy Curry who scored 22 points and grabbed 11 boards. Jamal Crawford wasnt shy about shooting for the Knicks as he added 18 on 7-13 shooting.
After the game Larry Brown was a litt more baffled than anything else. When asked about Marbury's performance he said: "I couldnt understand. Its almost like he didnt wanna be out there. We count on him to make things happen and he really let the whole team down."
Said Marbury when asked about his stat line:" I took more than one shot didnt I? I wasnt getting some calls so I tried to get my teammates involved. I cant score 30 points every night. We gotta play better next game."
Eddy Curry was strong on offense and defense

Knicks Holdoff SuperSonics
The New York Knicks starte their west coast road trip in Seattle where they faced the struggling 6-8 Sonics. Coming off a night where he took just one shot, Stephon Marbury led his Knicks to their 5th win of the season. Despite scoring just 11 points, Marbury handed out 8 assists and gave his team the leadership to close out the game.
New York trailed for most of the game as Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen shot the Sonics to a quick start but the Knicks defense tightened and New Yorks hung around long enough to make a late run in the fourth to win 84-80.
Lewis led all scorers with 22 and Luke Ridnour recorded a double-double with 21 pts and 11 assists. For the Knicks Crawfor was the high point man with 15.
Larry Brown was happy to finally get the fifth win but conceded that his team needs alot of work but is encouraged by their progress. "Yeah we're losing alot of close games. Bur early on we were losing big so Its encouraging to be in games late. Now we have to work on closing out games and finishing teams off."

Telfair Too Much for Marbury to Handle
Sebastian Telfair scrored 32 points as he led his Trailblazers past Cousins Knicks. Marbury who matched up early on with Telfair was unable to stop the second year point guard who got into the lane at will. Telfair showed off the speed the made him such dynamic highschool prospect as he blew past his cousin and the the entire Knicks defense on his way to 13-29 shooting.
Larry Brown moved Marbury to the two guard and assisned rookie Nate Robinson the task to guard Telfair. "He was too quick and we couldnt stop him, we tried matching up by goin small but that didnt work either. The young man had a terrific game. Its unfortunate it had to come at the expense of a loss.", said Larry Brown.
The Blazers desperately needed Sebastians offense as Zack Randolph was unable to match his big averages of 23 ppg. He finished with 8 but Portlands youngs guys were able to stay in the game and pull out with the win. Rookie Martell Webster scored 14 off the bench.
For the Knicks who led throughout until losing the lead late were led by another nice night from big man Eddy Curry who scored 21. Marbury added 20, while ex-Blazer Qyntel Woods who got the start scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Said Woods, "It was great to get the start, Coach is showing more and more confidence in me and it felt good going out there and playing good against my former team but it means nothing because we lost."

D-Fish Drains Knicks
Derek Fisher stepped up big and drained the game winning three to lead the West leading Warriors to their 14th win of the season. Fisher who played 27 minutes off the bench because of foul trouble to Baron Davis scored 25 points and also added 8 assists. Jason Richardson led all scorers with 29 including multiple highlight reel dunks. The Warriors opened a big lead early without Baron Davis who played just 12 minutes but scored 16 points.
The Knicks meanwhile were unable to take advantage of the Davis' foul trouble as their own starting point man was relegated to the bench, but not because of foul trouble. Stephon Marbury played just 10 minutes, all of them in the first as he was bench for the rest of the game by Knicks coach Larry Brown. The void left by Marbury was filled by Crawford who is more of a two guard than a one. Jamal scored 9 and dished 7 assists.
Channing Frye tried to step up for his team as he delivered 27 points (12-19) and 10 rebounds. Curry added 14 and 9.
The Knicks managed to comeback with Marbury but in the end Fishers three with 34 seconds remaining sealed the victory for Golden State.
When asked about Marbury's benchin Larry Brown said it wasnt due to injury but didnt offer any further comment.
