great recaps, nice pics and lebron tearing it up already, and that was just week 1, keep it up zmac this dynasty is looking great already
Sun Jan 08, 2006 3:52 pm
That statline by Lebron in the Spurs game would've looked excellent with a W too, but it was a good win against Memphis and it shows that he really doesn't have to do everything for the team to win. Great recaps

Thanks Mark. Yeh I like having realistic stats, I dont know what it is, but it makes the dynasty look, I dunno, more real or better, I dunno, but yeah.

Yeh I couldnt stop Parker, he absolutely shat on me...he took a fair few 3s (9), I dont know where that came from, he never shoots any.
Thanks for the comments guys.....I think I like the weekly recap format, so I will keep doing them, but I will try and get Plays of the Day again

Gooden injures elbow against Memphis.
"I didnt notice it tell after the game, I mean I felt it during the game, but everyone feels something. Maybe it was just the adrenaline that made me not notice it, but it isnt too serious, I will still be playing, just not as many minutes." Gooden told the day after playing Memphis.
He isnt expected to miss any games, and should still play 20 or so minutes according to Mike Brown. The injury is suspected to last no longer than 1 week.
Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:20 am
Good that the injury didn`t cost anymore serious problems...
Wed Jan 11, 2006 7:25 am
Now Marshall will get some more PT. He'll spread that D now.

Cavs win in OT, despite 4th quarter let down

Bosh shooting 2 of his game-high 37 points. ..........Hughes slams one home. ..........................................Mo-Pete had an off nite, but got this one to go. .......LeBron squeezes through the D.

The Cavs went into the fourth with a 16 point lead, and came out with a 0 point lead. The stellar play of 3rd year man Chris Bosh got his team into the extra period against all the odds. They kept it close, but fellow 3rd year man LeBron James made sure they wouldnt win it.
James opened the OT period with a 3 point play, and 2 back to back 3 pointers, then handing out 4 assists which scored all of the Cavs OT points.
He finished just shy of a triple double, with 31 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds, 2 stleas and a block.
"I let my team down in the 4th, I think I missed 5 or 6 of my shots, but I wasnt letting us go down in OT." James said.
Asked of his near triple double, James replied, "Im the leader of the team, I need to get big numbers to help us win, but I dont want to hog it at the same time. Im not going to say Id score 2 points to win the ball game, because I know that if I did score 2 points, Im not a worthy leader."
Toronto's Bosh, who had some massive numbers, (37 points, 15 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks) said that he did all he couldve done, probably more, he didnt put the blame on his teammates, but he said that poor shooting lost them the game. He shot 16-26 himself, so he wasnt talking of himself.
Mike James continued to shine in his new team. He left Houston not sure of his role, but got to Toronto and became their starter, and has done a fine job. Tonight he had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals along with 4-9 3 point shooting. His counterparts Eric Snow and Damon Jones, played very well also. Jones showed the reason why Cleveland got him there, scoring 15 points in 18 minutes on 4-5 3 point shooting, Eric Snow had 14 points on 7-10 shooting.
Donyell Marshall who started against his former team, because of Drew Goodens elbow injury, made the Raptors wish they had him, scoring 14 to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks on 5-7 shooting.
Drew Gooden played 20 minutes with his injury, and it showed at times, as he couldnt find his shooting touch.
He is expected to back at full health in under a week.

Hughes shines on offense and defense, Cavs cruise past Sonics

Hughes get into the lane and drives to the hoop. Rashard throws up the tear drop.

Sonics Boxscore: Click Here
Larry Hughes continued his offensive groove. But today that wasnt the main story. Hughes' defense, absolutely shut down Ray Allen and his sonics.
Hughes, known for his defense, being selected to the All Defense First team last season, finally showed why in his Cavs uniform.
He didnt get any steals or cause any turnovers on Allen, but forced Allen to take only 17 shots, and score 23 points. He only let him get 1 3 pointer, and eventually Allen was so frustrated that he tried to drive hard and got himself hurt, and missed a whole quarter.
"I tried to deny him (Allen) the ball, I wasnt playing aggresively and going for steals, because I knew he would beat me for the shot." Hughes said.
My goal was to not let him hit 30, and 'Brons was the same for 'Shard. We both succeeded and we won the game."
LeBron also played very good defense on Rashard Lewis, holding him to only 11 shots, whilst attempting 14 of his own, but scoring 5 more with 19 points (lowest of the season).
He also got a career high 7 steals to go with 9 assists and 4 rebounds.
"I got 7 steals. Really. I thought maybe 4 or 5, but 7. I played aggresively on Shard, I stuck close, didnt let him get the ball, but I took some risks, went for interceptions...just cant believe I got 7 steals.
Whats the NBA record." He yelled to teammate Hughes as he shrugged to LeBron.
"11 you say, well that wasnt bad I guess."
Drew Gooden returned to the starting 5, but only played 19 minutes. He looked like his normal self, playing very very good in limited time, 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.
Marshall had 9 in his splitted minutes, whilst Damon Jones also had 9, to go along with 4 for Alan Henderson.

The Cavs had probably their best offensive night of the season, but it was their defense that let them down, plus 2 lucky buzzer beater 3s that got Memphis into OT, and won Memphis in OT.
The Memphis starting 5 score 111 of their 122 points, one of the highest ever. Gasol had a career night, 36 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 steals.
Eddie Jones had 28 points, including the 3 point game winner on the buzzer of OT.
Damon Stoudamire had 23 points, including the 3 point buzzer beater that forced OT.
"It was a tough loss, we played really well offensively, but again our defense let us down. I mean look at the score sheet.....here, here it is. We got 52 to their 45 rebounds, 32 to 23 assists, shot almost the exact same percentage. Our free throws were not good, but this here tells us that it wasnt our offense, it was our defense." LeBron told.
"Maybe its a bit early on and our guys, most who are new, arent accustomed to each other yet, but we will fix it. Maybe even a small trade or signing for a defense first player, but we will get there."
LeBron got his 2nd triple double of the season, with 30 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists, 4 steals, but caused a career high 9 turnovers.
Larry Hughes played a very good game also, with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals.
Yet again Damon Jones showed us his shooting touch, with 17 points in 16 minutes on 5-7 3 point shots.
None of it was enough.

Francis, Stevenson lead Magic in high scoring battle

Diwght Howard slams over Gooden for 2 of his 14...LeBron drives past the Orlando defence
Magic Boxscore: Click Here
Cavaliers Boxscore: Click Here
Cleveland is starting to become one of the best offensive teams in the NBA, and the worst defensive team too. Despite one of their better scoring nights, the Magic, led by Francis, Stevenson and Turkoglu, pulled out a 116 to 107 win over the D-less Cavs.
Steve Francis was all over the court, scoring 24, 12 assists, to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. But it was the terrific bench play of Hedo Turkoglu that stunned the Cavs. In matched his playing time in scoring (19), on 8-13 shooting.
Stevenson, who had recently been put into the Magic lineup, scored 21 on 8-14 shooting. Dwight Howard continued to rip down rebounds, grabbing 15 and scoring 14.
The Cavs played superbly. Offensively. But defensively, they continued to look lost.
LeBron had one of his best games of the season, scoring 28, grabbing 15 boards, dishing 8 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Ilgauskas and Hughes also played well, offensively, scoring 22 and 19.
"I thought we played really well, we even forced a season high in turnovers for them, but we let them shoot 50% of their 86 shots, thats just not supposed to happen man." LeBron on the loss.
"We knew we could beat them if we played flat out offensively, and thats what happened and we won by 9. This win will really pump us up, and make us confident for when we play them later in the week." Steve Francis after the game.
The Orlando bench outscored the Cleveland bench 36-24. The Cleveland starters outscore the Magic starters by 83-80.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 11:20 am

Thu Feb 09, 2006 1:17 pm
Nah I played them ages ago (around 15th Jan).
I just couldnt remember/couldnt be screwed writing up recaps for them.
For about half maybe a little more, I have simmed first half played second with 8min quarters, sometimes 9.
Thu Feb 09, 2006 1:57 pm

LeBron chosen as coverboy of LAYUP
Cavs Article
The Cavs have started the season off perfectly, well offensively, but defensively, they have been terrible, one of, if not the worst defensive team in the NBA.
We expected them to struggle on defense, but this much? What we didnt expect, was LeBron James to be averaging nearly a tripple double.
This cat is doing things all over the court. But the thing that sticks out, is he is looking like a leader.
He gets to practice early and leaves late. He gets to the games early and knows how to handle each of his teammates, and for this he has earnt their respect and trust.
"I have been captained by the some the best out there, and this guy would be right up there and hes not even allowed to buy alcohol." Hughes speaking of James.
The new acquisitions have, offensively, done an excellent job averaging a combined 37.7, with Hughes leading the way at 21.8.
They have been able to spread the court and the opposing defense, and not let them focus on just James, which is a whole new ball game for him.
But none of this has payed off much yet, as the Cavs are sitting on a 6-4 record. It is still too early to tell what will happen next, but if they start to learn defense together, look out, they will be one hell of a team.
