Miami 56, Detroit 70

DETROIT, Nov. 22 -- The Heat probably know they were up against the odds here with so many good players on the Pistons. But they were struggling the season early at 4-4.

Rip Hamilton beat his season high with 23 points and dishing out 3 assists. McDyess added 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Pistons to a 70-56 truimph over the Heat.

After Rip Hamilton opened the fourth quarter by hitting a jumper to give Pistons an 54-44 lead. The Heat were out of the game by then and played on to lose by 14 points.

"Tonight, we were aggressive on both ends of the floor and showed that we could mount a comeback if it was needed," said Hamilton. "We've been struggling all year to get back to our form, so it's nice to get a win."

Billups came up with 2-13 from the field. Season low for billups. Billups told us after the game, "I definetly need to improve my shooting. We put in a good team effort but mine wasnt good enough."

Wade scored 17 points and had 5 steals, Mourning 13 points and 8 rebounds, Damon Jone 12 points and O'Neal season low of 6 points and 4 rebounds and Walker came up with 8 rebounds

Memphis 69, Miami 74

Image Image

MIAMI, Dec. 1 -- Shaquille O'Neal and Dwayne were too good for the strong Memphis and have broken their 2 game losing streak. The win puts the Heat at 5-4 and the Grizzlies at 11-5.

O'Neal scored 24 points and Wade added 17 as the Miami Heat win their first game in 2 games with a 74-69 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. O'Neal came up big shooting 11 out of 14 from the field. The amazing fact was that O'Neal scored 2 out of 2 from the free throw line.

The Grizzlies lead at the middle of the 3rd quarter by a margin of 12 points. The Heat were in real need of Wade and O'Neal when they were off. They were subbed and 25 seconds after that Wade hurt his arm going up for the dunk. The Heat shortened the lead to 4. But then the grizzilies shot another 3 pointer to take the lead out again.

At the start of the 4th quarter, the Grizzlies had the game in their hands but only for a short while. The Heat bursted out of the blocks with Shaq scoring 7 points in that quarter. Wade was subbed back in desperate need. As the lead was 1 point, the Heat's way, Wade dished the ball out to Williams who was open on the 3 Point line, he then shot and sunk the shot with 1.03 minutes remaining. That started the 9 point run but was clawed back.

Jason Williams and Damon Jones had 9 points and 3 assists each. Miller top scored for the grizzlies with 23 points shooting 3 out of 8 from downtown and 10 out of 16 overall. Lopez had 14 points shooting 3 from 3 from downtown.

The win put the Heat tied 1st in the South East Division. They were 4th just a game ago.

Wade is out

Dwyane Wade will be out for the match against the Celtics and may not be ready for the match against Portland. He sustained the broken finger when going up for a dunk in the match against the grizzlies

Carter to go to Miami

Image

Vince Carter is set to go to the Miami Heat. The Heat traded Alonzo Mourning and Wang Zhi-Zhi for Vinci Carter. The reason why the Nets offloaded Carter is because they were in real need of a good center and they found it.

Vince Carter said, "I am happy that i am going to the Heat. I think that i will settle in there well and play my debut to a good level."

Stan Van Gudy said, "I am happy that we have gained Vince Carter and i think the trade was quite fair.

The Heat were over vicious in the first quarter and when Vince Carter shot in a three from the arc it put the Heat ahead by 9.
