Ben Gordon and the Bulls end Clippers undefeated start
The 3 game winning streak comes to an end, largely duw to one man: Ben Gordon. The Clippers knew all about Ben after he dropped 30 on us in the pre-season, so really they should have had a plan for the former U-Conn National Champion. However, Ben dominated, going 11/19 from the field, including 5/8 from downtown. With the Bulls 1 point ahead with 20 seconds to go, it was a Ben Gordon 3 that secured the win for the Bulls.

Cuttino Mobley led the Clippers with 27 points.

Final Score:
Clippers - 99
Bulls - 103

Notable Performances:
LAC - Cuttino Mobley (27pts, 5reb, 13/18 FG)
LAC - Chris Kaman (18pts, 11reb, 9/18 FG)
LAC - Corey Maggette (18pts, 3ast, 7/20 FG)

CHI - Ben Gordon (37pts, 2stl, 11/19 FG)
CHI - Kirk Hinrich (21pts, 4ast, 8/25 FG)
CHI - Tyson Chandler (10pts, 10reb, 4/6 FG)

Player of the Game:
Image
CHI - Ben Gordon
37pts, 2reb, 1ast, 0blk, 2stl (11/19 FG, 5/8 3PT, 10/10 FT)

Basically, Ben torched us (again). At least we won't be playing him again this season, unless we meet him in the Finals

Thanks brad. I'm still working on the format and how its going to work, I have taken bits from your dynasty as well as others, but obviously the PS2 limits me a little. But right now its going good! Can't wait for your dynasty to get back up and running! :)

Clippers bounce back; Kings have no answer for Elton and Cuttino
Following the home loss to the Bulls in Game 4, the Clippers had to come out fighting against the Kings. It didn't go all according to plan, with Peja scoring 10 points in the first quarter and the Kings building a nice 9 point lead. But the Kings second unit couldn't keep pace with the Clippers bench: Chris Wilcox and Shaun Livingston are establishing themselves as 2 of the best backups in the league. The Clippers finished strong, and made all their FTs down the stretch, on route to a 9 point victory.

Image
Peja lead the Kings with 24 points and 6 rebounds.

Final Score:
Clippers - 107
Bulls - 98

Notable Performances:
LAC - Cuttino Mobley (28pts, 3reb, 11/19 FG)
LAC - Elton Brand (24pts, 11reb, 9/18 FG)

Player of the Game:

Elton returned to form with a typically solid perormance.

Elton leads the Clippers to another victory
In another close game, the Clippers edged the Magic 90-85. Dwight Howard, the future of the Magic franchise, was great in the first quarter (8pts, 4reb, 2blk), but was quieter as the game went on. Elton Brand started to take over, and finished with 20 points. Stevie Francis made a solid contribution for the Magic, with 16 points on 8/14 shooting, including a couple of huge dunks.

Image
Kelvin Cato had 7 blocks. Together with Dwight Howard, the Magic have one of the toughest inside duos in the league.

Final Score:
Clippers - 90
Magic - 85

Notable Performances:
LAC - Cuttino Mobley (15pts, 2ast, 7/19 FG)
LAC - Elton Brand (20pts, 13reb, 9/21 FG)

Player of the Game:

LAC - Elton Brand
20pts, 13reb, 1ast, 2blk, 0stl (9/21 FG, 0/0 3PT, 2/4 FT)

For the second game running, Elton took control of the game and won it for the Clippers. Overcame some great defense from Kelvin Cato and Dwight Howard.

Big 3 too much for Clippers
Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson all made big contributions as the Nets beat the Clippers in LA. Kidd had 29 points, and dominated the Clippers point guards all game, at both ends of the court. The game was really won in the 3rd quarter. The game was tied 44-44 at the half. By the end of the third, the Nets were 15 ahead, with Cliff Robinson making a couple of big shots.

Play of the game was an amazing alley oop thrown down by Jefferson, connecting on a VC pass with a 360 dunk! Cuttino Mobley's 31 points was a rare bright spot for the Clippers. The defeat leaves the Clippers with a 5-2 record.

Image
VC and Jefferson had fun against the Clippers with some huge dunks.

Final Score:
Clippers - 85
Nets - 95

Notable Performances:
LAC - Cuttino Mobley (31pts, 2ast, 12/22 FG)
LAC - Elton Brand (11pts, 7reb, 4/11 FG)
LAC - Chris Wilcox (12pts, 8reb, 6/10 FG)

NJN - J. Kidd (29pts, 3stl, 3/7 3PT)

Player of the Game:
Image
NJN - Jason Kidd
29pts, 4reb, 2ast, 0blk, 3stl (12/28 FG, 3/7 3PT, 2/2 FT)

Jason Kidd was having more of a shoot first night than usual. But his dominance on the court left Sam Cassell and young Shaun Livingston chasing shadows.

Clippers: Rookie Report (12/16/2005)

Image
SF Yaroslav Korolev (drafted 12th overall in 2005)
0 games, 0 starts
The 18 year old has not been activated yet this season. However, backup forward Walter McCarty hasn't been playing very well, so Yaroslav may get his chance to play some spot minutes soon.

Image
SG Luther Head (drafted 24th overall in 2005)
5 games, 0 starts - 0.4ppg, 0reb, 1.0ast, 0.20stl, 0blk (16mins)
Luther Head hasn't really had a chance to show his skills. Given the Clippers problems with backing up the 3 position, the trade that sent Quentin Ross to Houston for Luther Head hasn't really given the Clippers too much up to this point. Hopefully he will develop and become a key backup in the coming seasons.

Image
PG Daniel Ewing (drafted 32nd overall in 2005)
7 games, 0 starts - 4.9ppg, 0.7reb, 1.3ast, 0.71stl, 0blk (92mins)
Former Duke player Ewing has averaged over 10 minutes a game, backing up the PG and SG positions. His outside shooting has been useful, and he is shooting .400 from the field and .300 from downtown. Definately has a long term future in the league.

Image
PF James Singleton (undrafted)
7 games, 0 starts - 1.9ppg, 1.4reb, 0.1ast, 0stl, 0.14blk (34mins)
Another player who hasn't had a great deal of chances to prove himself. However, whenever he plays, he does a solid job. He hits the glass hard, and is also shooting .600 from the field. Shouldn't worry about having to go back to Italy; Singleton has a future in the NBA.

Image
C Boniface Ndong (undrafted)
0 games, 0 starts
Like Korolev, has been inactive. Unlike Korolev, I don't see him having a future in this league. Could provide spot minutes if someone gets injured, but at 28, it's hard to see him developing into a useful player.

Wade on fire for Heat; Clippers lose second in a row
Dwyane Wade was in awesome form as the Heat handed the Clippers their second loss in a week. Wade, rated as one of the best players in the league, scored 36 points. The Heat built a 10 point lead in the first half, and despite a Clippers run at the start of the 4th quarter, that pulled them within 5, the Heat never gave up the lead. All-Star centres Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning were typically dominant inside for the Heat, who now have a 9-4 record.

Sadly, my attempts to hurt the Shaq's knee didn't work. The Diesel had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

D-Wade was dominant- Cuttino, Livingston and Ewing all tried to guard him, but failed. He is on the cover of the game though, so I will use that as an excuse

Brand breaks finger

During the 12/19/2005 game with Miami, Clippers captain Elton Brand suffered a broken finger. The tough PF re-entered the game, and finished with 22 points and 11 boards. However, after the game he had to have minor surgery on the finger, and is expected to be out for up to 4 weeks. Clippers GM IJBL said: "These things take time to heal. He will almost certainly miss the trips to Boston and could miss the games at New York and Phoenix. Hopefully he will be back for the 1/21/2006 game at Washington."

Elton Brand is currently averaging 16.9ppg, 9.6reb and 1.5blk in 8 games. Backup forward Chris Wilcox is expected to start while Brand is out.
