Thanks, I'm going to try to extend it. I like my team a lot, although maybe it will take 1 more trade before I become a real contender for the title

COOLmac- I'm glad to see you're doing better now. Good luck with your dynasty, and btw I'm not a 56k user- I did my first franchise (Bulls) without pics because I wanted people who were 56k users to be able to follow along, that's all.

Thanks everyone, although I have acquired a new big man, he wasn't the focus of the trade and won't get many minutes for my team...

Sorry guys the power went out at home on Monday night b/c of a big thunderstorm, so my update was delayed until today. But here's the big news:

BUCKS ACQUIRE DWYANE WADE IN DEAL WITH HEAT-
part ways with Terry, Mason, McDyess, but also obtain Eddie Jones

The Bucks traded Jason Terry (18.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 5.3 apg), Desmond Mason (15.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 apg) and Antonio McDyess (9.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 52.7% FGs) to the Miami Heat for Dwyane Wade (16.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 5.7 apg), Eddie Jones (12.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.2 apg) and Qyntel Woods, who was immediately traded to the Utah Jazz for backup C Jarron Collins (has yet to play so far this season).

ImageCOLLINS: #31, 6’11, 252, $1,700,000/4
ImageJONES: #6, 6’6’, 200, 11 yrs pro, $13,455,000/1
ImageWADE: #3, 6’4, 203, 2 yrs, $2,834,160/2

Team Total: $41,603,478
$ Under Cap: $3,396,522

New Starting Lineup: GADZURIC-HOWARD-HASSELL-WADE-UDRIH
Reserves: DIVAC-BOWEN-JONES-LANGDON-ROBINSON-COLLINS-GAINES

COMMENTARY
The main reason I did this trade is because I want to try and win a championship THIS SEASON. And while I'll never say that I couldn't have won it with the team as it was (b/c you always have to believe  ), the Bucks IMO are now much improved- a truly dangerous team.

I really wanted Wade, and knew it would take a lot to get him. I tried to trade just Terry and Mason, but the Heat didn't want any part of that deal- they also wanted Mr. McDyess, my 2nd-best big man. Also, at first I didn't want Eddie Jones, but I had to have him included in the deal for salary reasons- Wade is still on his rookie contract, so Jones's $13 million had to be included.

I didn't like to part ways with Terry and Mason especially, who were with me practically from the beginning of Season 1 of the franchise. But they're going to Miami to play with Shaquille O'Neal- I'm sure they'll understand  .

And Dwyane Wade is a flat-out superstar, a force to be reckened with, who makes everyone around him better. He can score, rebound, pass, and play defense. He's going to be my MJ-type of player. Also I've come to really like having Eddie Jones, who can shoot and play good D.

Finally, the trade to get Jarron Collins was just extra insurance and depth at my big man positions, especially after losing McDyess I felt I needed it.

Game 8: Milwaukee Bucks (5-2) @ Portland Trailblazers (3-4)

POR 102, MIL 99

ONE AND DONE- Blazers Shut Down Bucks After First Quarter

PORTLAND, OREGON- The Portland Trailblazers evened up their record to 5-5 with a win last night over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, who fell to 5-3 on the season.
 Portland surrendered a 30-point first quarter to the Bucks, but shut them down in many facets of the game afterwards. For example, Bucks big man Dwight Howard scored 6 first quarter points, on 2-for-5 shooting. He scored only 7 more points the rest of the game while shooting 2-for-11  , and grabbed a season-low total of 4 rebounds on the night. Also, the Bucks shot 57% in the opening quarter (12-for-21), but failed to reach even 40% in any of the remaining quarters. Portland held them to a 36% 2nd quarter, a 35% 3rd quarter, and a 38% 4th quarter. Finally, Milwaukee had 10 assists in the first, but only 14 more stretched out over the rest of the game.
 How did the Blazers do this? Well, they dominated the boards, for starters. Portland’s Theo Ratliff, Zach Randolph, and Shareef Abdur-Rahim each grabbed 10 rebounds in the game; the Bucks’ high rebounder was Dan Gadzuric with 6! Overall, Portland had a huge 46-to-33 advantage on the boards. Also, the Blazers closed out their quarters well, executed very well in the clutch, and received a big game off the bench from swingman Darius Miles. Miles used his tall 6’9” frame to post up the smaller Bucks’ defenders such as Trajan Langdon and Trenton Hassell, and delivered 19 (a team-high) points on 8-for-14 shooting in the game.
 The Bucks did have some definite positives to take from this game, though. One day after making a blockbuster trade for Dwyane Wade and Eddie Jones, and also obtaining Jarron Collins, the three played well in their debuts in Milwaukee uniforms. Wade was dominant, scoring 26 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and he also got to the free throw line often, where he missed rarely. Dwyane sank 10 of his 11 free throw attempts, meaning he needed just 16 shots to get his 26 points. Jones also had a well rounded game. He scored 12 points off the bench, hit 2 threes, grabbed 4 rebounds, and handed out 5 assists. And Collins scored 2 points in limited action.
 Bucks coach Terry Porter commented, “I’m still getting over not having Jason [Terry], Desmond [Mason] and ‘Dice [Antonio McDyess] on the team, because they meant so much to it. But this is a business, I understand, and there’s no shame for those guys in going to compete for a championship with Shaquille O’Neal on their team. I’m happy for them. But I truly believe now that with Dwyane Wade leading our team, we too are now legit title contenders. He’s such a special player, and a humble person who’s just great to be around. Also Eddie is a veteran who still has a lot of game, and Jarron’s a big body who can fill in for us with quality minutes when called upon. I’m excited for our future, which really is this year.

GAME NOTES
Sebastian Telfair, in his second year out of high school, has been starting for the Blazers and is showing great potential. He played very well versus the Bucks, scoring 15 points, dishing out 10 assists, grabbing 4 rebounds, and shooting 50% (6-for-12).

Game 9: San Antonio Spurs (5-3) @ Milwaukee Bucks (5-3)

MIL 93, SA 92

TRUE CONTENDERS NOW?- Bucks Beat Great San Antonio Spurs Team, Look “For Real”

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- The San Antonio Spurs are expected to get deep into the playoffs and perhaps win the NBA Championship every year. The reason for it is their 1-2-3 punch of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, combined with their great set of role players like Bruce Bowen, Robert Horry, and Brent Barry. But after their blockbuster trade a few days ago, the Milwaukee Bucks are starting to look like a team that’s going to be very tough to beat come playoff time (should they make it, of course).
 Led by Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade, Nate Robinson, and a slew of quality role players, the Bucks ran up their regular season record to 6-3 with a narrow victory over the Spurs last night at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee. Howard responded to the dreaded task of matching up against Duncan with an energy-filled 23-point, 13-rebound, 3-assist performance. Though Duncan shot an amazing 10-for-12  on his field goal attempts, for 20 points, Howard limited him to just 4 rebounds, and more importantly kept him in serious foul trouble. Duncan was only able to play for 21 minutes in the game.
 In his second game with Milwaukee, the Bucks faithful have already come to love Dwyane Wade. The electric shooting guard scored 24 points, had 4 assists, and played outstanding defense with 4 blocks and 4 steals. He struggled off the bat, shooting 1-for-8 in the first quarter while being hounded by Ginobili, but burst out with a 6-for-9 shooting performance in the 3rd.
 Finally, pint-sized Nate Robinson played very big against the Spurs. He scored 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting, dished out 7 assists, and even hauled in 2 rebounds. After the Bucks shot an awful 21.4% in the first quarter, Robinson came to play in the 2nd. He was everywhere, pushing the ball with his great speed and quickness, and harassing his man on defense. His wild play led to his committing 8 turnovers  , which was far too many, but his overall production on the court was very positive for his team against the Spurs.
 Milwaukee’s three main players each outperformed their Spurs counterpart: Ginobili was held to 10 points on 5-for-18 shooting, and Parker shot 4-for-12 en route to an 11 point night.
 Despite all of this, the game still was close until the end. The Bucks tried to pull away as they took an 89-81 lead with 2:30 to play, but Bruce Bowen and Brent Barry hit consecutive 3-pointers, and Robert Horry tipped in a miss to tie the game at 89 just a minute later, with 1:13 left in the game. Howard got deep positioning and converted a short basket to put the Bucks up 91-89, and then Manu Ginobili’s answer rimmed off. Robinson sprinted down court for a layup, giving Milwaukee a 4-point lead with 13 seconds left. Barry connected again for 3, but the Bucks ran out the remaining ticks of time out on the Spurs to ice the win.

GAME NOTES
This game was the first for Bucks PG Beno Udrih since he was traded from the Spurs in the offseason for former Bucks starting PG Maurice Williams. Udrih finished with 3 points and an assist, while Williams had 4 points and 4 assists in limited minutes.

{Sac-1}- Thanks for the support, friend (Y) I can only hope to be as good as your Kings...

*Sensation*- thanks, I like the trade too, and it would have been much tougher to beat the Spurs without Mr. Wade.

Jermaine ONeal- That was why I did the deal- come postseason time, watch out for the Bucks! :)

COOLmac- thanks. I think the trade was fair too (although they wouldn't have done it in real life I believe)- I gave Miami 3 really good players, and got a superstar in return, and a very good veteran in Eddie Jones... by the way, why did you change your name? Did you lose a bet to Mr. Dweaver?

Game #10: Milwaukee Bucks (6-3) vs. Houston Rockets (5-1)

HOU 115, MIL 104

WADE CAN'T WILL THE WIN- Plays Game of His Life, But Bucks Still Lose to Sizzling Rockets

HOUSTON, TEXAS- “Houston, we have a problem.” That line from the movie Apollo 13 has been associated with the city of Houston since its conception, and could have been recycled yet again for last night’s NBA match between the visiting Milwaukee Bucks and home team Houston Rockets. So what was Houston’s problem against the Bucks? A better question is “who.”
:arrow:Dwyane Wade,” Rockets superstar Tracy McGrady exclaimed, “that guy played out of his mind!
 Wade scored a career-high 56 points on an absolutely scorching 24 of 31 shooting night- 77.4%! He hit his first five shots, and scored 13 points in the first quarter, but would only pick up the pace from there. He scored 4 more points in the 2nd quarter, to have 17 by halftime, but then dropped 26 in the 3rd quarter alone. He hit 11 of his 12 shot attempts, and was 18 for 20 (90%!!)   with 43 points after three quarters. Rockets center Yao Ming exclaimed after the game, “Yo! That guy don’t miss much…
 Wade’s heroic efforts had the Bucks with an 85-77 lead heading into the fourth quarter, an impressive feat considering: 1) Wade had more than half (43 of 85) of Milwaukee’s point total, 2) They were beating a really hot Rockets team that had a 5-1 record, and 3) They were on the road.
 But that’s when everything came apart for the Bucks. Everyone on Houston seemed to imitate Wade in the fourth quarter, as they shot 74% AS A TEAM, scoring 38 points in the period. The Bucks simply could not get a stop, and watched as Yao, McGrady, and company got the crowd into a frenzy and ran away with the game. Houston doubled the Bucks’ 19 points in the quarter, and won by 11 despite Wade pouring in another 13 points to finish with 56 in the game.
:arrow:Our defense was atrocious,” Bucks coach Terry Porter remarked. “This is going to be a painful game film to break down, for the myself, the coaching staff, and the players. Us coaches are going to have to spend a lot of time on it, and the players are going to be running a lot of miles thinking about it.

GAME NOTES
Although no player’s individual performance rivaled Wade’s in this game, there were some solid outings out there. For Houston, Yao had a big game with 24 points on 12-15 shooting, as well as 6 rebounds and 4 assists. McGrady led the team with 26 points, adding 7 boards and 3 dimes, and point guard Bobby Sura also was excellent as he recorded 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 9 assists.

For the Bucks outside of Wade, Beno Udrih dished out a career-high 16 assists (“They were easy tonight,” he said, “just give it to Dwyane and get out of the way”), Dwight Howard had 21 pts, 8 rebs, and 6 ast despite not shooting well, and Dan Gadzuric had another double-digit rebounding performance with 13.

GAME STATS

MILWAUKEE
Gadzuric: 0 pts, 13 reb, 1 ast, 0-0 FGs
Howard: 21 pts, 8 reb, 6 ast, 7-19 FGs

Jones: 7 pts, 2 reb, 0 ast, 3-9 FGs

Bowen: 2 pts, 5 reb, 0 ast, 0-3 FGs

Game 11: Milwaukee Bucks (6-4) @ Memphis Grizzlies (5-5)

MIL 91, MEM 85

2nd-Half Surge Beats Griz- Swarming Defense and Dominance of the Boards Key To W

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE- The Milwaukee Bucks got off to a sluggish start last night against the Memphis Grizzlies, but finished strong to steal the victory in the second half. The Grizzlies forced 7 turnovers by the Bucks in the first quarter, then dominated the boards 18-10 in the second quarter to hold a 45-35 lead at the break.
 But the Bucks’ newly acquired superstar Dwyane Wade led the charge back in the third, shooting 6 of 9 and scoring 13 points with 5 rebounds in the quarter. Despite a perfect 4-for-4 quarter from Shane Battier of Memphis, and the fact that PG Jason Williams was racking up the assists (he had 12 after the 3rd), the Bucks cut the lead in half to pull within 5.
 The final quarter was simply a beauty to watch, by basketball standards. The Bucks played aggressive, swarming full-court defense, led by Nate Robinson’s pestering of Williams for the full 94 feet of the court. There were Bucks everywhere, like Johnny Bach’s “Dobermans” that were the Chicago Bulls of the ‘90s. Milwaukee forced Memphis into a 33% shooting quarter (7 for 21), and absolutely dominated the boards to the tune of a 16 to 4 rebounding advantage in the quarter.
 One key play that summed up the quarter for the Bucks occurred with 1:40 to play. Vlade Divac was on the free throw line, shooting his second and final shot. It missed, but Dwight Howard outmuscled the Grizzlies underneath to snare the offensive board, and then went up strong with a 2-handed throwdown dunk.
:arrow:Dwight was huge for us tonight,” Bucks coach Terry Porter said. “He’s been a little inconsistent as of late, but tonight looked like a breakout game for him.” Howard did had a huge game: 26 points on 11-23 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He and Wade (29 pts, 12 rebs, 6 ast, 3 stls, 12-18 FGs) carried the load for Milwaukee the whole night. Eddie Jones’s 0-10 game meant that they had to more than usual. It worked out fine though, with the Bucks pulling out a 6-point victory, 91-85.

GAME NOTES
Jason Williams didn’t shoot very well (5-for-14), but still had a great overall game for Memphis. He finished with 14 points, 15 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and a surprising 3 blocks. :o

Game 12: Seattle Supersonics (3-4) at Milwaukee Bucks (7-4)

MIL 102, SEA 89

Defensive-Minded Bucks Beat Sonics- Hold Seattle to 23.5% Shooting in Fourth Quarter, Win By 13

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- The Milwaukee Bucks “brought it” on the defensive end last night against a normally high-scoring Seattle Supersonics team. “We take great pride in and put lots of emphasis on our defense,” Bucks coach Terry Porter remarked. “It was what won the game for us tonight- I thought we did a great job.
 Judging solely by the numbers, Porter is right on. The Bucks forced the Sonics into committing 22 turnovers- exactly twice as many turnovers than assists (11). “That’s unheard of, and embarrassing,” Sonics coach Nate McMillian exclaimed. It doesn’t end there: Seattle’s young PG Luke Ridnour was forced into a career-high 12 turnovers   , being locked down by Beno Udrih, who had a career-high 6 steals :o . Dwyane Wade was also spectacular defensively, holding Ray Allen to a 10-for-29 shooting night (34.5%), and Wade also recorded 5 blocked shots and 2 steals in the game.
 Collectively, it was in the fourth quarter that the Milwaukee Bucks defense shined. They absolutely shut down the Sonics, who shot just 23.5% (4-for-17) in the period, and scored just 14 points. Coach Porter has been using Nate Robinson throughout the 4th for his full-court pressure defense, and he used him again to hassle any and all Seattle ballhandlers for the entire length of the court. “Nate played cornerback in college, and many believe he could have made the NFL. It’s pretty nice to have an NFL-caliber cornerback playing defense in your backcourt, you know…
 Seattle failed to match the Bucks’ defensive intensity down the stretch, and allowed 24 points in the quarter to lose the game by 13 points. They had trailed by 13 early in the 3rd quarter but climbed back to take a brief 3 point lead before the end of the 3rd. They gave it all back, though, and fell to 3-5 on the year.

GAME NOTES
Dwyane Wade dropped 27 more points for the Bucks, along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 blocks, and 2 steals. He also shot a sizzling 11-15 from the floor, 73.3%. Since joining the Bucks, he’s put up MVP-caliber numbers: 32.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.8 apg, 3.0 spg, and 2.2 bpg on 63.4% shooting.
