Hmmm... I'll try to listen more closely.

How do i check for the Nationality of Necodemus Abraham? I guess i'll look at his school later and check.

Thu Dec 09, 2004 5:55 am

i like what you're doing here......i think it would be more fun to read if you lost occasionally

Thu Dec 09, 2004 6:57 am

Hahaha! Well if there's a way to change the level from Superstar to Legendary then give me that code :D I could adjust the sliders and move them all up to 100 for the CPU but that will only frustrate me, and games are supposed to make you relax and forget about everything else. :D Hey, some teams are strong enough to make me come from behind and even take me to OT, but i just don't want to lose.

I guess Ron Jeremy is going to be taking home another coach of the year trophy :D

Thu Dec 09, 2004 9:19 am

lol, or you could set your sliders down, but yes, it would be frustrating at times when you miss open 3's while the computer makes off balanced ones

Fri Dec 10, 2004 1:00 am

Well, before the CPU would make contested 3's, fadeaway 3's, half-court 3's and whatever 3 point kind of shot you can think of, but this year has been different. They are as tough but not as out of this world as previous Lives. They'll steal the ball if you pass it close to them and that's what really happens in real play. They make 3's but this time they miss some contested ones. And i have yet to see them throw a fade away 3, so everything has been good with Live 2005. Like i said before, i could live with playing this game if this is the last of the series they will produce, it's truly awesome. :D

Fri Dec 10, 2004 2:11 am

I played a couple of games today, i was choosing between sleeping or playing but i thought that i wouldn't get to sleep if i don't play anyway so might as well play before going to bed. :D

I just want to tell you that the weather here in Manila is absolutely perfect for sleeping this time of the year. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. :D So now you know what i sacrificed to play Live. :D

I played 2 games today, the first one was against Orlando and the usual thing happened, I won. Now the second game against the Spurs was a different story, Donatello almost got his wish but Miami just didn't quit  .

The game featured my lowest scoring half ever, 25pts. I finished the 1st quarter with 14 pts but the half ended at 35-25 Spurs. Nesterovic was a monster of the blocks, blocking 6 shots at the half, blocking everybody from Shaq to Wade, and lets not forget about Duncan, Stephon Parker had his shot rejected 3 times by Duncan. Brent Barry was their scoring leader and everybody else on their team was contributing. I finished the 3rd quarter leading by 4 so i was able to make some shots, Shaq was the only one making his shots though, the others were missing most of their shots and nobody else scored in double figures after the game except Shaq with 33pts.

The 4th quarter was a heart-stopper, as i was regretting exchanging sleep for this tension-filled game. I was able to mainatin a 7pt lead going into the last 2 minutes, but Mr. CPU suddenly woke up and did all he could to beat me. Rodrick Wolf missed 5 straight field goals, and after those misses the Spurs were able to make 2 3pointers. Lead is down to one with 30 seconds left. So i decided to waste time and with 10 seconds left i had Wolf drive the lane but he MISSED AGAIN!!! Shaq got the rebound but had the ball stolen! Tony Parker was running on a fastbreak and i thought that it was the end of my winning streak again! But out of nowhere Wolf came running from behind and blocked the shot!!! Stephon Parker got the ball and was fouled with 2 seconds left. Now, at this time i thought that i've won the game, but noooo.. Wolf inbounds the ball and it was stolen by Barry who throws up the desperation 3 just outside the 3pt line and ............... BRICK! Now that was a cardiac finish! WHEW!

The game ended with a score of 64-63, which is my lowest point total ever. Shaq was the player of the game with 33pts, 15rebs, 3blks, 1stl. Nobody else from my team scored more than 8 points. Wolf became the goat then the hero then the goat again in the last 2 minutes. He is starting to assert himself in a wrong way, very Kobe like :? Attempting and missing 5 shots in the last minutes of the game is not good at all with Shaq making 60% of his shots and even his free-throws.

The Saga begins.....

I'm full bred Chinese hahaha! Dawg! :D I studied in a Chinese school and i've been living here all my life. I'm not very good in speaking Mandarin anymore, or even Fookien, and that's because we speak the local language here most of the time. English is just something i became good at because of my work. :D

And the writing is just something i picked up from writing love letters back in the days

The Heat is on....

I played 8 games during the weekend and i won all those games. My record currently stands at 62-1 and it looks like i'm going to break my previous season's record of 70-12. :D

Nothing outstanding happened for most of the games except for my game against the 76ers. I played them on back to back games and the result was one sided. Shaq literally beat them all by himself during the first game. Shaq's stats: 39pts, 17rebs, 6blks vs. 76ers: 37pts, 17rebs, 7blks. All 7 blks was made by Samuel Dalembert, who like Nesterovic has become a shot blocker, and also Gadzuric who had 10blks against me!!! The game ended at 97-37 and the 60 point lead is the largest winning margin i've ever had. The 76ers lost the second game by 50 so they're not doing so well, i think they're the lowest ranked team in my Dynasty now.

One good thing going for the 76ers is that they have a great rookie named Joshua Smehlik, a SF, the 9th pick in the 2005 draft and the 3rd consecutive East rookie of the month. Beating out my rookies of course so i made it a point to stop him during the 2 games we played. He's averaging 20pts, 8rebs, 3 assts, 1.5blks, and 1.3stls. But during the 2 games we played he only averaged 9pts, 3rebs, 0 assts, 0.5blks, and 1stl.
I hope that's enough to make my rookies win the rookie of the month for March this time. :D

Tue Dec 14, 2004 12:35 am

There's one thing that's annoying me when i'm playing the 76ers. Samuel Dalembert. Is this guy french? Since when did a T became silent before an R? Dalembher??? I could imagine George Costanza saying the name. Do we start using silent T's on Robert, Albert, Wilbert, Dogbert, and the likes? I think he just wants to make his name sound a little more sophisticated, well he isn't a model or a fashion designer so he should just stick with the normal pronounciation DalemberT!!! His game doesn't show the slightest sign of sophistication either. :P

Tue Dec 14, 2004 7:38 am

i thought he was from like cape verde or like the caribbieans or something

Wed Dec 15, 2004 1:20 am

i see. So maybe they are saying his name correctly, it's still annoying though :)

Not a good day for the Heat. They played against the Sonics and won but Shaq got injured in the first quarter and didn't come back. Shaq suffered a sprained elbow and is going to be out for 7 days. Stepping in for the injured Shaq is rookie center 7'5 Bashini Long, who for the season is averaging 5.1pts and 2.3rebs off the bench. But for this game, Long was on fire, scoring 24pts and grabbing 14rebs along with 1stl and 2assts. His performance earned him player of the game honors. Parker and Wolf each scored 18pts to complete the rookie attack by the Heat, not to be left out, fellow rookie Nicodemus Abraham made 2 3's and finished with 8pts, his season high. The game ended at 89-65. Allen scored 19pts for the Sonics.

I notice something interesting happened to my Dynasty. The Heat had a rating of 88 before this game, but when i started the game i saw that my rating is now 90. I didn't have any training done but Wade seemed to have gained 2pts in his overall rating, he was previously rated 81 and now he's 83. I didn't know that this was possible, an in season improvement without the training. I do remember that before the game i changed his shoes, but i don't think that's the reason for the improvement because i changed it again after the game and he is still at 83.

Thu Dec 16, 2004 12:58 am

Bad becomes worst for the Heat, 2 more players suffered injuries and will be out for a minimum of 7 games. Nicodemus Abraham will be out for 11 days because of a sprained back, and Udonis Haslem will be out for 7 days because of broken bone in his foot. Is Haslem Wolverine or what, only 7 days to heal a broken foot, now that's superhuman recovery

Even with 3 main players out, Miami won 3 of its games by 10 points or more. Bashini Long is doing a great job starting for the injured Shaq and is averaging 22pts, 11rebs, 2assts, 2stls, 0.5blks in 3 games. If Shaq asks for a salary increase at the end of the season, i think i can survive with Long starting at center for years to come. Miami still has one more game without the 3 injured players. Shaq would have fully recovered after another day.

I'll have 9 players with expiring contracts at the end of the season, i think i will be able to re-sign Shaq if he doesn't ask for more than his current salary of $32M per yr. I'll try to offer him $20M for a longer term and see if he'll bite. No other team can sign him because of the salary cap anyway. One notable free agent at the end of the season is Yao Ming. But the Rockets have the first crack at him.

Thu Dec 16, 2004 8:09 am

sucks for all the injuries, i'm experiencing a lot of injuries in my dyansty as well. i created myself, and was out for a week, and then dwight howard tore his acl and was out for 3 weeks, and 3 hell of weeks those were, i had to start luol deng and mike dundleavy jr

hope your team gets over its injuries and win. :)

Thu Dec 16, 2004 11:25 pm

I've never had a player injure his ACL, and the longest unplayable days i've encountered is only 12 days plus a 5 day extension, so 3 weeks of absence is possible huh hmm...

I'm still winning but i'm currently experiencing a different kind of problem with my TV!!! So i'm currently out of commision until i get my TV fixed. :(

And the Heat is Back!!! The Heat won their second championship with Shaq on board, battling LA in the championship game, it was Shaq vs Kobe but it was a one sided game when LA didn't have anybody who can defend against Shaq. Shaq won his 5th Finals MVP and the Heat is looking forward to a Threepeat in 2006!

The regular season ended on a sour note for Shaq. Shaq played his best season so far, averaging 33.1pts, 11.2rebs, 2.85blks, 2.4asts, and 0.86stls. But Shaq didn't win the Regular Season MVP award, Tim Duncan took the award averaging 19.6pts, 12rebs, 2.20blks, 2,4asts, and 1.36stls!! Why is this so??? The only explanation i can think of is that Shaq missed 6 games due to injury, but still, Shaq still has a great lead in terms of stats. I've always thought that whoever is on top when you look at the MVP candidates list, that is the player who will win the award, but as it turns out the 3rd player from the top took the prize. Garnett was the second. Shaq wasn't even a 1st Team All-NBA! Yao took that position even when ranking 5th on the MVP race! Shaq took his disappointment to the Raptors, scoring 54pts in the first game of the playoffs. Shaq would end the playoffs averaging 41.3pts and 10rebs.

Regular Season Awards.

Shaquille O'neal - 33.1pts (1st), 11.2rebs (5th), 2.85blks (1st), 2.4asts, 0.86stls)
- All-NBA 2nd Team, All-def 2nd Team, All-Star MVP, Finals MVP
Dwayne Wade - 10.0pts, 2.0rebs, 0.33blks, 7.3asts (1st), 5.40stls (1st)
- Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All Defense, Slam Dunk Champion
Stephon Parker - 16.2pts (2nd), 9.2rebs (1st), 0.88blks (4th), 2.4asts, and 0.36stls
- All-Rookie 1st Team, Rookie Game MVP
Rodrick Wolf - 10.1pts, 3.4rebs, 0.55blks, 3.5asts (3rd), 1.23stls (2nd)
- All Rookie 2nd team
Stan Van Gundy - (80-2)
- Coach of the Year

Notes:
Joshua Smehlik won the Rookie of the year award. I wasn't surprised about that but his stats and Stephon Parker's (16.2pts, 9.2rebs, 0.88blks, 2.4asts, and 0.36stls) are almost equal. It's just that Parker missed some games also.

The off-season is again an exciting part of NBA Live 2005. I have 9 players with expiring contract and i'm ready for Shaq's 30M salary. I went ahead and look at Shaq's contract demand and to my surprise, he was only asking 13.10M a yr for 2 years! I thought that this was a great bargain so i tried to sign him for 5 years for 66M and he took it! So i'm done with Shaq and i have 20M in salary cap left.

I re-signed Haslem for 11M for 5yrs, Butler for 3M for 1yr, Matt Frieje for 1.5M for 2yrs and Wang Zhizhi for 875k for 1yr. Keyon Dooling was a great back up PG for me and i wanted to re-sign him, but he was asking for 27M for 5yrs and i don't think that is a reasonable price, so i let him go.

With more than 14M still left in my Salary Cap, Ben Wallace and Chris Webber were available for about 11M a yr but both were asking for a 5yr contract. I thought that the game wouldn't be realistic if i sign them so i let them go. Other valuable free agents are Grant Hill (7M), Eddie Jones (6M), and Penny Hardaway (2M). I was thinking about signing Eddie jones but he didn't really play well when i had him the first yr so i signed Penny instead. I had a up and coming SF so i didn't bother signing Hill. SG is the position that i really needed to fill so Penny was a good fit.

Notes:
Chris Webber ended up with the Bobcats and Ben Wallace was re-signed by the Pistons. Some of the players i didn't re-sign were Malik Allen, Toni Sarault, Keyon Dooling, Robert Horry and 1 other no name.

The Draft only had an Average strenght. Most of the players had limited or average potential so it wasn't really an interesting draft. I scouted 6 players during the course of the season but i was focusing on another 7'5 center and a 7'0 SF. I was able to draft both of them and was aso able to pick up a 7'2 PF from free agency. As it turns out, i drafted players with the same position and same height as the players i drafted the previous year. Although these players are not as strong as their predecessors.

It's interesting to note that i drafted Rodrick Wolf the previous year as a 7'0 SF, and this year he has grown to be 7'1. I didn't know that that could happen, i know that their ratings change but this is the only time that i have encountered an increase in height, Cool! :D

Tyler Constantine, the 7'0 SF that i drafted is only rated 44 but the good thing about him is he is a good dribbler. He doesn't lose the ball when he spins and do cross-overs but that is pretty much his strong side. I'm going to start him at SF and move Wolf to SG at the start of the season and see if that will work out. I will have a starting line up that has a height of 7'1, 7'2, 7'0, 7'1 and 6'4 (Wade).

Sat Dec 25, 2004 7:05 am

I started the season by training my team 5 times for offense, defense, conditioning, and shooting. After all the training my team is rated 87, down from 90 the previous season. Wade is now rated 85, Shaq is 93, Wolf is 73, and Parker at 53. My starting line up consists of

Shaq 7'1
Parker 7'2
Constantine 7'0
Wolf 7'2
Wade 6'4

Bench:

Long 7'5
Haslem 6'8
Butler 6'7
Hardaway 6'7
Abraham 6'8
Center (i forgot his name) 7'5
Sato 6'6

Injury/Reserve

Ayeshi 7'2
Wang 7'1
Frieje 6'10

I played 2 games already and it seems like Constantine is going to be replaced by Penny Hardaway in the Starting Line up. I won both games but the team is struggling to score. We'll see how the team blends in the next few games. :D

Tue Dec 28, 2004 4:34 am

I'm 11-0 games into my third season and everything has been great so far. Shaq is leading the league in scoring(31.3) and shot blocks(3.86), Wade is leading the league in steals with an unbelievable 7.20 steals per game. Stephon Parker has continued his improvement and has become more reliable inside the paint, both on offense and defense. Wolf has not gotten a lot of opportunities to show his talent but he has been consistent with what he needs to do, acting as a secondary PG dishing out assists and making more than 2 steals a game.

I used to have Hardaway on the starting line up but i have placed rookie Constantine to start at SG instead. He is a work in progress but he drives to the basket well and can hold his dribble so he's in there. I also used to have Haslem come off the bench but i have made Ayeshi take the PF position because he is taller and seems to have Haslem's dunking skills too, the only difference is he can't back down his defender as well as Haslem does. I'm trying to get rookies at least All-Rookie 2nd Team awards so i'm letting them play.

Notes:

- Miami is now rated 85.
- The Bobcats is rated 96 because they were able to sign Chris Webber and Grant Hill.
- The Mavericks is rated 99!
- The 76ers is rated 87 and is still struggling as i once again beat them by 60 points.
