Let's get back to this franchise now, guys. Sorry for the wait:

NBA PLAYOFFS: EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS, Round 2, Game 3: Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks

MIA 103, MIL 95

Taking Back What’s Theirs- Heat Regain Home Court Advantage With Big Game 3 Win

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- When the #4-seeded Milwaukee Bucks won Game 1 of this best-of-7 Eastern Conference Semi-Final series against the #1-seeded Miami Heat, they stole a precious commodity of the NBA Playoffs: home court advantage. So as the series moved to Milwaukee for Game 3, the Heat were intent on getting it back with a victory on the road.
 Bucks coach Terry Porter decided to tweak his starting lineup, moving Grant Hill to the point guard spot, and shifting Dwyane Wade over to small forward. Finally, Beno Udrih took a seat to Nate Robinson, who came in to play shooting guard. After the game, Porter explained his decisions: “Well, Grant’s been struggling with his shot, so we wanted to take advantage of his other talents, namely his unique ballhandling and passing abilities, and put him in at point guard. Nate Robinson was put in at the 2 to play his trademark suffocating defense on Jason Terry, who smoked us for 30 ppg in the first 2 games. Also, having Nate in at the off-guard spot offensively makes us a really fast & dangerous team in the open court. Finally, the coaching staff and I figured Dwyane Wade could handle the 3 because of his great versatility. Also, Miami’s 3 is Desmond Mason, who at 6’5” is just an inch taller than Dwyane, so there wasn’t a height issue there…
 So how did all of these moves pan out? Good enough for the Bucks to take a 21-16 lead with minutes left in the first quarter, but not good enough to stop a 10-2 run by the Heat that put Miami ahead 26-23 after 1 period of basketball. Shaquille O”Neal continued his trend of having gigantic opening quarters, putting up 14 points and 7 rebounds on 7-for-12 shooting. Many of these buckets came off passes from Heat point guard Keyon Dooling, who had 8 assists in the quarter.
 Miami pounced on the Heat to open the second quarter, taking a 38-31 lead. At that point, with 5:57 left in the period, Coach Porter called a timeout an did a 5-man substitution: all bench players back to the pine, all starters back in. Rest was going to be a luxury in this game, it was apparent.
 The substitution sparked an immediate 10-2 run by the Bucks, who captured a 41-40 lead. Dwyane Wade had a big quarter with 12 points and 4 rebounds, and at halftime it looked as if he was in for one of those gigantic games: he already had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. More importantly, Milwaukee had the lead at the break: 49-46.
 The third quarter was a gritty one marked by physicality, poor shooting, and tough defense. The Bucks held a small lead for most of the way, though never could extend it out to a safe level. With 30 seconds left in the period, Bucks reserve Kareem Rush hit a big-time 3 pointer from the left corner to put the team ahead by 6, 72-66. However, the Heat got 2 scored in the final half minute, disappointing Coach Porter for the fact that his team was now only up a mere 2 points. Dwyane Wade had scored 10 more points to reach 30 for the game so far, but Miami was encouraged by O’Neal and Terry combining for an 8-for-16 shooting performance in the 3rd.
 The Bucks scored the first 4 points of the 4th, to lead once again by 6, but this time that lead was completely erased, and more. By the 6:58 mark, the Heat tied the game at 76-76 on an Antonio McDyess layup. Miami had the momentum, and took the lead on a big run that left the Bucks fans eerily quiet in their seats. With 3:01 left, the Heat lead 88-80, and then a Keyon Dooling layup a few plays later gave them a 10-point cushion, 92-82. The Bucks simply couldn’t score, while the Heat were shooting at a 60% clip in the quarter.
 Just when all seemed lost for the Bucks, Rush hit 2 consecutive & unanswered 3-pointers to bring the team within one more 3-pointer of tying the ballgame! The score was 96-93, and there was just 1:30 left. Dwyane Wade got a clutch steal 2 plays later, and then Hill converted on a layup in heavy traffic, and it was a 1-point game- 96-95, 32.6 seconds to go!
 The Bucks played intense defense, trying to force a turnover, but Jason Terry calmly came off a screen and BURIED A 3-POINTER! That was just about the nail in the coffin in this game- the shot made it a 2-poessession game with the Bucks down by 4, 99-95, with only 18 seconds to go. Milwaukee failed to score in the remaining time, while Udonis Haslem hit 2 free throws and Terry buried another jumper to do in the Bucks for good.
 For the Bucks, this is a game they MUST learn & bounce back from, and for the Heat: mission accomplished.

BUCKS NOTES
In his first career start at shooting guard, Nate Robinson did very well. He scored 20 points on 10-for-20 shooting (50%)…Kareem Rush’s 3 3-pointers were all big shots, but they were the only shots he hit all night. He was 0-for-10 otherwise, 3-for-13 in the game.

HEAT NOTES
Once again, Jason Terry was an unstoppable scorer- his 25 points gave him 86 total over the first 3 games of this series. He’s averaging 28.7 points per game…Dooling had a career-high 21 assists in the ballgame  …And finally it was another big night for Shaquille O’Neal: 26 points, 12 rebounds, 63% shooting.

Dooling surprised me a lot with 21 assists off the bench! Like I said before, I like the Wade+Howard vs. Shaq+Terry matchup. But you did lose the game but not losing hope. Good luck in game 4, bullsfan!

Actually Dooling started, but you're right, that was very surprising  And definitely, I'll never lose hope- I gotta get these guys back in Game 4

Wow, I didn't realize that- Dooling DID have more assists than my whole team! I agree about Game 4. It's a must-win for sure, I don't want to go down 3-1 heading back to Miami.

Thanks C-mac. I like the lineup change, but it just didn't work out in Game 3. Shaq's killing me in particular- I have no answer for the Big Fella. Might have to start double-teaming him every time, I'll see...

Thanks everyone for the comments, I'm going to play a few games this weekend, and I'll meet up with you all on Monday.

What in the world does that have to do with this dynasty?

Anyway, bullsfan, I'm very impressed with this, one of the only quality dynasties going right now, and even if it wasn't, I'd be impressed.

You're not doing anything revolutionary, but you're making good solid posts, and that's much better than being flashy with no substance. Good work.

Now on to game #4:

NBA PLAYOFFS- EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS: Game #4, Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks

MIL 112, MIA 99

Tied Up At 2 Games Apiece- Bucks Endure Scare Before Pulling Away For Big Victory

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- Beno Udrih may have saved the Milwaukee Bucks’ season. With Milwaukee down 2 games to 1 versus the #1-seeded Miami Heat in this best-of-7 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals series, a Heat win in Game 4 could prove fatal for the Bucks. Going down 3 games to 1, and heading back to Miami with no more margin for error would be extremely difficult for any team to overcome.
 So in Game 4, the Bucks brought that intensity and competitiveness that has become associated with NBA Playoff basketball. They quickly jumped out to a 7-2 lead, which exploded to a 17-6 advantage quite shortly. Milwaukee’s fans were excited- their team was off to a great start. However, Miami fought back hard with a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 3, 19-16. Their high scorer of the playoffs, Jason Terry, was at it again, in the process of a 9-point opening quarter. However, the Bucks, led by Dwyane Wade’s 11 points and Dwight Howard’s 8 points, finished the quarter strong and held a 27-21 lead after 1.
 Bucks coach Terry Porter stuck to his normal substitution pattern, opening up the 2nd period with his reserves. As it turned out, though, there was nothing normal about this game when it came to Milwaukee’s bench. Reserve point guard Beno Udrih nailed a 3-pointer to put the Bucks up 32-21, and another 3 a few plays later to give his team a 35-23 advantage.

 Suddenly, the Bucks were running the Heat right out of the building. They built a solid double-digit lead, which spiked to 15 points when Udrih buried his 3rd and 4th 3-pointers of the quarter! Coach Porter remarked, “Once I saw Beno bury about his 3rd or 4th three in the 2nd quarter, I knew that he was REALLY feeling it…” Beno finished with 14 points in the period, along with an amazing 6 steals and 3 assists. The Bucks led big, 58-40, and it looked as if they already had Game 4 in the bag.
 How wrong that assumption was. The Heat players and coaching staff were furious in the locker-room, and absolutely COULDN’T WAIT for the 2nd half to start. Once it did, a rally followed that must have given lots of Bucks fans the various symptoms of My-Team-is-Choking-Syndrome: nausea, indigestion, ulcers, headaches and most of all, heartache. :wall:

 The Heat completely erased the Bucks’ 18 point lead in 8½ minutes, tying the ballgame at 75-75 on a Keyon Dooling floater in the lane with 1:31 left in the 3rd quarter. How did it happen? One only needs to look at the statistics: the Heat grabbed 13 rebounds to Milwaukee’s 4, shot 55% to the Bucks’ 43.5%, and made 12 free throws in comparison to Milwaukee’s 2 FTs made. All that totaled for a 36 point quarter for the Heat, who headed into the 4th quarter down 81-76, thanks to 6 late points by Milwaukee’s Kareem Rush.
 So it was on to the 4th and final quarter. Coach Porter didn’t have to remind his Bucks team what their scenario would look like if they didn’t pull this game out- every player knew they had to step up. Vlade Divac opened with 2 straight baskets in the paint, giving Milwaukee a 85-76 lead. Given what had happened in the 3rd quarter, they knew that no lead was safe against the Heat, so the Bucks kept their intensity level very high on both ends of the court. That didn’t stop Miami from going on a 7-0 run, though, which was capped by a Desmond Mason 3-point play when he dunked hard on Ryan Bowen, plus was fouled.
 Milwaukee had an answer, though. With the score 85-83, Beno Udrih spotted up behind the arc, and the Bucks made sure to find him with a pass. He didn’t disappoint, knocking down another 3 and putting the Heat back down by 5, 88-83. A few plays later, Udrih bangs in YET ANOTHER 3-pointer; at this point, he was running to the 3-point line. 95-89, Bucks, 5:47 to go.

 For the next 2½ minutes, Milwaukee maintained that 6 point advantage, neither extending it nor giving any of it back to the Heat. But with 3:17 left, Dwyane Wade cut into the lane, collapsed the defense, and saw Udrih run around to a screen, now wide open behind the arc. Wade fired the ball to Beno, and the crowd rose in anticipation…BOOM! His 8th  three of the ball game was the first nail in the coffin for the Heat, putting them down by 9, 106-97. A Grant Hill layup on the ensuing possession gave the Bucks an 11-point advantage, and the Heat finally ran out of their supply of comebacks, falling 112-99 in Game 4.

BUCKS NOTES
Reporters crowed Udrih’s locker after the game, forming a bigger circle around him than even Dwyane Wade. When asked what he was thinking/feeling during all those threes, he replied, “All I can say is the basket looked like the size of the Gulf of Mexico out there…I was in some kind of zone…I don’t even shoot like that in practice!”

HEAT NOTES
The Heat were doomed by 28 turnovers, including 9 from their starting point guard, Keyon Dooling. The team shot 52% in the game, but had 22 fewer shot attempts than Milwaukee because of all those turnovers. “It’s really hard to win when you only get up 75 shots in a ballgame,” Heat coach Stan Van Gundy commented…Jason Terry once again led the team in scoring, with 31 points.

Great job on keeping the series alive, Dooling is surprising me, first he gets 21 assists and he continues it and gets 10. Terry is dominating against you but you played great D which helped you get the win, good luck in game 5.

You beat Miami in convincing fashion and you've tied the series up, instead of going down 3-1. (Y) Beno Udrih's been a real surprise, I hope he keeps playing this well off the bench. Btw I noticed something interesting, Terry's still wearing a blue elbow band from his Dallas days. That happens in my game as well but I change it through .dbf, anyways good luck ing Game 5! It's a big one.

Dooling is racking up the assists yes, but he's shooting really poorly. One thing I've noticed about Live 2000 is that the assists aren't distributed that well in many games. The CPU's point guard usually gets a LOT, and everyone else will get 1 or 2...

I looked at your dynasty today- tough loss there dude...anyway I agree- my bench has been playing pretty well recently, and esp. Udrih in the last game (8 threes!)

Going down 3-1 was something I really wanted to avoid...And good observation, Sensation, about Terry's blue elbow pad. That was from 2 trades ago, since the Mavs he's been on my Bucks and now the Heat, getting revenge on me as much as possible  thanks for the support (Y)

NBA PLAYOFFS: EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS, Round 2, Game 5: Milwaukee Bucks @ Miami Heat

MIL 103, MIA 89

Surprisingly Easy Victory - Bucks Cruise; Take Critical Game 5 on the Road

MIAMI, FLORIDA- Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals was played last night between the host Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. With the series tied at 2 games each, it was expected that this pivotal match would be hard-fought, and possibly be decided in its final moments. After the first quarter, however, it was anything but all that.
 After the Bucks rallied from an early 22-14 deficit to tie the game at 26-26 by the end of the first quarter, they burst the contest wide-open starting in the 2nd. A Dwyane Wade jumper gave the Bucks a 39-32 advantage, and another “J” from Flash made it 45-38 with 1:53 remaining in the half. Wade finished with 18 points and 3 assists in the first 2 quarters, and along with Dwight Howard’s 13 points propelled Milwaukee to a 51-42 halftime lead.
 It has been the trend in this series that whenever the Bucks have held a halftime lead, or really any lead for that matter, the Heat have stormed back and either taken the lead or made Bucks coach Terry Porter sweat out a victory. In this Game 5, however, a 9-point halftime lead ballooned to 21 by the end of the third period. The Bucks shot a scorching 72.7% from the floor in the quarter, and dished out 12 assists versus turning the ball over just once. The Heat limped into the fourth quarter with no momentum, and seemed to be fresh out of confidence as well.
 It showed in the fourth, when once again, the Bucks coasted without a real challenge from Miami. Because of the magnitude of the game, Coach Porter initially stuck with his starting 5, despite the team’s 20+ point lead. But it was hardly necessary- 4 minutes passed without Miami cutting even 1 point off of the Bucks’ lead. So with 6:01 remaining in the game, it officially became what’s called “garbage time” in basketball- all 5 starters took a seat, and the bench played the rest of the way. The final score of Bucks 103, Heat 89 looks closer than the game actually was, thanks to three late 3-pointers by Jason Terry in the final 2 minutes.
 All in all, it was a blowout, and coming in such a pivotal game in the series, one has to wonder what’s up with the Miami Heat.

BUCKS NOTES
Vlade Divac quietly had a great game off the bench, tallying 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocked shots, and a steal…But it was the Big 3 of the Bucks that led the way- Dwyane Wade had 28 points (all in the first 3 quarters), Dwight Howard scored 26, and Grant Hill had his best shooting night in a while with 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting…The Bucks dominated the glass tonight, 42-to-28.

HEAT NOTES
While Jason Terry keeps playing unconsciously, the rest of the Heat cooled off somewhat in Game 5. Shaquille O’Neal had a series-low 6 rebounds, and the entire Miami bench combined to score only 14 points, grab 4 rebounds, and dish out 1 assist.

Wow just like the title says a surprising win, excpected it to be harder anyways Dooling is still going crazy with assists but like you said still shooting badly, great shooting from your team i usually get like 48-101 or something. Terry fighting hard in the last minutes with three straight threes, you juast need one more win so good luck next game.

Good to get a break after some tough games and you got it at the right time. Now you have the upper hand in the series and can wrap it on in Game 6. The Wade+Howard vs. Terry+Shaq matchup has been huge all series. Good luck in Game 6 bullsfan, hopefully you can finish off the Heat and move on, let's see how the duo matchup ends up.

Good observations/comments, Sac-1. Yep, just 1 more game to win in this series. I hope to pull it out in Game 6 for sure.

More really good observations here. (Y) Wade and Howard have led the way all year, and are playing well in the playoffs thankfully. The rest of the team has really been off-and-on, but fortunately it seems that in each game at least 1 or 2 other guys step it up. We'll see who does in Game 6, and hopefully it's enough to get the W and wrap up the series.

Nate got lost in the rotation in Game 5, perhaps he got stuck behind Traylor deep on the bench and Coach Porter couldn't see him & forgot about him  . Thanks for the well wishes for Game 6, I hope to have a summary by Fri, if not then Mon.

Peace out all-

An easy game... the Heat must use his bench a little more, or maybe they should improved it in the Reg. Season like you do. BTW, the offenive rebounds was the key fot this game too, congratulations for this victory and good luck in the next game.

thank you Diogo. And sorry to everyone, but I don't have the summary done quite yet. I HOPE for it to be done & post it by tomorrow.

But I do have news: if I win this series, my Eastern Conference Finals opponent will be...the CHICAGO BULLS! They beat the Philadelphia 76ers in 7 games (sorry Sensation  )

Hey, it's alright. Although a loss to the Bulls is a hard blow. :? I would've loved to see you play my team but that's too bad. Webber vs. Howard, AI vs. Wade. But now you got Chandler vs. Howard and Wade vs. Gordon. (N) But let's not get ahead of ourselves, you still have to beat the Heat. Best of luck!

NBA PLAYOFFS: EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS, GAME 6: Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks

MIL 94, MIA 90

Movin’ On- Bucks Knock Out Heat; Bring On the Bulls

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN- The Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks squared off for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals last night at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With the Bucks leading the series 3-games-to-2, it was win-or-go-home for the Heat.
 A major event occurred in the first quarter- Jason Terry, the Miami guard who had been torching the Bucks the entire series, drew his 2nd foul with 4:11 left in the period. Without their best scorer, the Heat fell behind 27-22 heading into the second quarter. The Bucks were led by mighty-mouse guard Nate Robinson, who scored 13 points on only 6 field goal attempts.
 In the second, Heat coach Stan Van Gundy re-inserted Terry into the lineup, only to have to take him out again when Jason committed his 3rd personal foul with 4:50 left in the first half. And just like in the first quarter, Milwaukee pounced on the Heat and ran up the score. An 8-point lead became 10, then 12, then 15, and with 2:12 left, the Bucks led by 19, with a score of MIL 48, MIA 29. The Heat had only scored 7 points in almost 8 minutes, and were getting buried. They were saved by the buzzer ending the first half of play, and escaped with an 18-point deficit, 52-34. It was starting to look like the beginning of the end of the Miami Heat’s season.
 In the 3rd period, the Bucks did a great job of maintaining their large lead. They once threatened to completely blow out the Heat when they pushed the lead to 22 at 59-37 on a Grant Hill layup with 8:00 left. But that was as large as it got for Milwaukee; their lead for the most part hovered around 16 to 18 points. Nate Robinson had another nice scoring effort, and after 3 quarters of play had 25 points- already by far his best game of the Playoffs. Grant Hill had 9 assists, Dwight Howard already had 10 rebounds, and the Bucks led 73-57 heading into the final period. If they could just hang on to their lead, they were headed to the Eastern Conference Finals!
 The Heat had other ideas, however. After Robinson buried a 3-pointer with 7:46 to go that put Milwaukee up 78-61, Miami went all-out. They put together an unprecedented 24-to-10 run, which was capped by a Shaquille O’Neal power-dunk + a free throw. The score was 88-85, Milwaukee ahead, with 2:50 to play.
 At this point Bucks head coach Terry Porter was sweating bullets; if the game had gone into overtime the referees might have had a ballboy mop up the growing puddle under his seat!
 But it was not to be. Grant Hill played lock-down defense on Miami PG Keyon Dooling, stealing the ball on multiple possessions. Dooling had 13 turnovers in the game; each one receding Coach Stan Van Gundy’s hairline to look more like his brother’s  (Jeff Van Gundy, coach of the Houston Rockets). And the Milwaukee Bucks pulled out the victory 94-90, ending the Heat’s season. It was the third straight win for the Bucks in the series- now they move on to the Eastern Conference Finals to play the Chicago Bulls.

BUCKS NOTES
Nate Robinson finished with a playoff-high 30 points, hitting 10 of his 19 shots in the contest. Dwyane Wade chipped in 22, and Grant Hill scored 14 though on a dismal shooting percentage (6 for 17, 35.3%)…The starters really carried the team tonight- no one scored more than 4 points off the bench.

HEAT NOTES
Jason Terry finished with (by-far) a series-low of 13 points, due to his playing time being cut down by foul trouble…Shaquille O’Neal ends his season with yet another double double (22 points, 10 rebounds), although he would surely trade it to be continuing on through the Playoffs.

mission accomplished

I still want to wrap up this series, but also here's what's ahead- a look at the current East and West playoff brackets after 2 rounds:

Image
As you can see, the Bucks have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, to play the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are actually the #7 seed! They swept the #2 Cavs and also beat the #3 76ers to advance...

Image
And the Suns and Spurs are going to fight it out in the West. The winner of that series is going to the Finals. I'm hoping the Suns win it, so that if I should advance to the Finals, I won't have to deal with that really tough Spurs defense.

Terry got into foul trouble and you took advantage. What a career night for Nate Robinson! Nice job taking the series in 6, good luck against the Bulls.
