dude, i know what it feels like to have everyone depending on you to win the game and blow it.

we had a ultimate playoff game back in hs and i threw to the dump right in front of the other team's endzone and it was a bad and we turned it over, and the other team took it all the way downfield, and then the man i was guarding scored on me. we lost, but got into the playoffs anyways, go all the way into the finals, and lose to the same team again.... :x

dont worry man, get over it and keep it up

that's cool....do what you have to do....it sucks to lose those close games (my team has blown it in 4th quarter last 2 weeks, fortunately it's only pre-season)....I felt like I let my new team down with my ankle (N) enjoy your formal mate and don't worry about the bball, just be confident and that next 3 will drop

yeah dude, it sux a lot to lose the game...especially that way. I had same thing once, we were losing by 2. There was 7 secs on the clock. I got open, shot a three and it bounced off the right and then the left of the rim and went out, thank god it wasn't one of our main games, cuz we guaranteed ourselves a spot in the playoffs a game before that one.

Good luck on the formal!

It's awesome. We won today and it was a very physical game.. and we played so bad it wasn't funny. The score really doesn't reflect how good our team is because we usually score at least 40 points in a game (Our highest being 72)... but we won 30-24 today.

The other team played dirty. I got knocked around three times at the start of the game but I wasn't gonna get too worried about it cause I knew that they only wanted to take me out of the game (We played them in preseason and in that game I scored 12 of the team's 20 points...)... for those who don't know, half my team doesn't like me too much but I sort of won their respect back when my backcourt partner got hit hard, he got up and left but I walked up to the guy who hit him and sort of shoved him and said what was on my mind. Ref and coach had to pull us apart and we kept on playing. The rest of the game was me getting repeatedly hit by the other team but it was well worth it as my teammates started to trust me a bit more and also I had the final laugh! (Y)

After a crap first half.. both teams on 6 and after our coach gave us a lot of shit, I tried to step up... The other team did well to get ahead as I scored 5 of my team's 5 third quarter points and before the final period, our team was behind 17-11. At that point, I told the guys, we had to win it for coach and for the premiership and we came out of the break on top. We went on a 7-0 run, finished by a three by me, started by a fadeaway by our big man... the last 7 minutes of the game was real tight. They would go up 21-18 before our PG scored two threes in a row to put us ahead 24-21. The other team scored on a three point play... 24-24. Some smartass decided to shove me as I brang the ball up, I kept my cool and he gave me shit so the ref teched him and we got one free throw. We got a three ponit play on the next possesion and then forced them into a missed three pointer. With the clock winding down, I got the pass and held onto it and with 7 ticks left on the clock, I iced the game with two free throws... 30-24. I'm half satisfied with my game today.. next week will be tough.

Even if we can't come first, we will make sure noone ties for that premiership!

:? What's the length of the game in minutes over there? A 30-24 victory sounds just like a single quarter. Great job though!

10 minute quarters, no stoppage in time. So it runs very quickly... as I said, we usally score at least 40 points but these last three games have seen us struggle i nthe first three quarters. Last week we lost 19-16... pretty low scoring games. As my mate said, you can't score 16 and win...

we play 10 minute quarters, too

Wow short scoring game, but good win though. We 12 mins with clock stoppage. Now that's tiring.

at the moment I play 4 x 10 minute quarters....no stoppage times meaning if you want a timeout then clock doesn't stop (which is stupid)....I think clock only stops in last 2 minute of each quarter or when shooting free throws, otherwise I'm not sure....

average score for each team is around 50-60....can be 60-70 if it's a higher scoring game....if it's a highly defensive and/or sloppy game then the scores for both teams are generally in the 40-50....I think the fact that each of our teams only runs with 6 players (5 starters, 1 reserve) contributes to the low scoring as we get very fatigued....especially considering the half-time break is only 2 minutes and the quarter time breaks are only 1 minute....ceekay, you can now understand at least in my situation, why scores are so low....if we were running with a full roster of 12 players then scores would always be above 60 I'd say because we would be a lot fresher....the bright side of playing on a team of 6 is that in an average game you'll get 30-35 minutes of PT, and for me, I find it a great workout :P

lowest scoring game I was ever involved in was a 29-28 loss....the ugliest game I've ever played in....boy it was a shocker, we played so crap....that was back in grade 11 and we were all tired as we had to play back-to-back hard games on consecutive nights....

Strange. Over here no stoppage means that the clock will run during foul calling, inbound passes and FT-s, except for the last twom minutesof each quarter. But the clock running during timeouts?!? That's just insane!

Btw in those 30-point games... Does the team leader score like 20+ points and the rest do basicaly nothing or does every bodyfinish with about 4 points?

:?

Ypu, that clock stoppage stuff is dumb anyway. But the 50-60 avg. you mentioned is still much higher than 30 pt. avg. or 19-16 ( :? ). Isn't that very boring Sit, only 40 points combined in 1 game?
And eh.. I don't think I'm really elite or anything but I just thought the scores you talked about were extremely low. I guess it'd be less weird to me if we had the same system over here.

yep, it's insane that timeouts don't stop the clock unless they're in the last 2 minutes....that's why we never call timeouts unless it's last 2 minutes of each quarter

I think they just try to get through as many games as possible in such a short space....like a game every 50 minutes....

and for Heiks, is that for Sit as I haven't had a 30 point team game since high school....and usually it was like one player in double figures and a few with 6 or 8 and the rest making up the difference....

We've never actually played a high scoring game actually after the holidays. Mainly due to our team's chemistry. You see, there's me and then there's the other asians. All of them think I'm cocky but since I'm the SG who plays all of the game except for about 5 minutes, I guess they do need to share the ball (And I need to share it with them too).

Our first game of the season was where I played real bad. Got 4 fouls in the first half. Only played about 20 out of 40 minutes because of foul trouble. The team's guards couldn't get the ball up and we had very little opportunities and in the end we lost by 1 in a very very low scoring 21-20 performance. It was horrible and I fouled out. (That's why i feel bad that we're not gonna come first cause i screwed up)

The two games before the holidays were more high scoring as we reached 45 and 60+ points in the two games. In both games I top scored. In the second game I scored 16 points with 2 other guys in double figures and in the next game everyone scored and I got 20 (including 8 points in a minute)...

Then I think what really screwed us over was that team chemistry problem. Although in our last three games, the passing and team play has been excellent, I have to admit that there is no trust between me and my teammates and that means noone gets open.

We've had 27 points, 16 points and 30 points and it's been real bad that is so low scoring. Also, the teams we've played made it harder on us by playign hard defence and constant presses and I've made horrible decisions by holding onto the ball for too long or trying to go solo on double and triple teams. The clock only stops in the last minute of the second and last quarter. It doesn't stop during timeouts and it start straight away when the ref blows the whistle to resume play. Since play is usually rough, the ref will talk to players and that takes out a lot of time.

Hmmm.. ck, the games are actually more exciting than you think. They start slowly but the defence and the pace of the game makes it more interesting. The games go too fast actually so you don't get phazed by it... the finishes are the best obviously. My mates don't have any problem watching the game and they never find it boring. Oh yeah, I'm not saying anything bad bout u. Just I said, yeah its cool lol. But I do have a feeling that over there basketball games would be higher quality. But thats my own generalisation. I know our team is capable of scoring at least 40-50... it's just our chemistry holding us back.

Heiks, the team leader will score in double figures... and depending on the team maybe 2 guys will score some too... lol Yesterday I only managed 10 and everyone else sorta backed me up lol. Pretty shoddy actually. Next week will be a ripper though lol. And also, its not unlikely that one guy does all the scoring. In our second game, at halftime I had scored 14 of the team's 20 points... and we sorta exploded once I started to pass more...

And X... hows ur bball going so far?

my basketball....hmmm....well we are still in pre-season at the moment....

well you know I opened up with a 25pt, 10reb outing in 40mins including a few treys in a 54-64 loss....but that game I was playing on a really crappy team and we had never met or ever played together so it was a bunch of individuals and I just took my opportunities when I could....I shot the ball well for 3 quarters but my shot left me in the 4th and that was the game....

well, the following week I got moved into a much better team, actually a pretty good team so I'm not the best player on the team, more like the 3rd or 4th option but I'm fine with that....the rest of the team are all mates so they know each other and have played together for years I think and know each other tendencies....which means I don't get many shots at the moment and a lot of opportunities I'm getting are coming from hustle....I think down the line that will start to change but at the moment, I understand that I have come in as an outsider, so I'm concentrating on doing the right things, defense, rebounding, good passes, keep turnovers down and help where I can on the offensive end....

in the 2nd game (1st game with new team) I played about 35mins and had like 8pts (on about 3/6 shooting, 2/4 FT), 12rebs, 3asts, 3stls....the game was pretty sloppy on both sides and was a defensive struggle....final score was 46-46 I believe, a tie, no overtime....we were actually leading at the half but they implemented a full-court press for the whole 2nd half that the rest of the guys couldn't really handle....I helped out the point and went pretty well against the press....we were down 6pts with under 2mins to go and we came back but couldn't get the win....overall I was happy with my performance outside of my shooting which was off....

in my 3rd game, we once again led at the half, but I rolled my ankle pretty bad just prior to the half-time break....they seemed to run over us in the 4th as we lost 63-51 as we settled for 3's and rushed it as we were too fatigued....after rolling my ankle, I went to bench and sat out most of the 3rd....I probably shouldn't have gone back in but we were starting to struggle so I did....it was painful and my mobility was severely reduced....managed to add about 5pts, 5rebs in the 4th on it, but just wasn't enough....only played about 25mins in the game due to injury, scored 7pts, grabbed about 10rebs and had a few assists....played well, once again shot the ball poorly (for me) as I got in good positions with makeable baskets but just wasn't falling for me on the night....some good passes on the night....

as for my ankle/foot, maybe I shouldn't have gone back out on it, as when I had trouble driving home on it, and when I got home and took my shoe off, it swelled up pretty badly....I actually couldn't go to work the next day as I couldn't walk on it  as for how it's going now after like 4 or 5 days, I have a 5 inch bruise under my ankle, I can walk on it alright, can't run on it....have tennis on tuesday but am not sure if I will play....will definitely play bball on wednesday though.....although I will be strapping up my foot/ankle before the game....

damn, that was an extended memoir, glad to contribute to your dynasty
