2005 OFF-SEASON COVERAGE
Before we actually start the offseason, take note that just about
all real off-season moves have been made. Now lets see who the finals mvp is...
FINALS MVP
Chris Webber was voted Finals MVP by the voters. He had similar numbers to the regular season, and this award may have secured a place in the HOF for him someday.
And here are the champions, the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixers hope that most of these players will be back for a repeat run next year.
Now on to retirees and the lottery....
DRAFT LOTTERY
The teams missing the playoffs are here to try and grab the #1 pick. Let's see who the winner is...
As expected, the Utah Jazz win the lottery. They now earn the right to get someone with the likes of Andrew Bogut, Chris Paul, or Marvin or Deron Williams.
Biggest Winner: Los Angeles Clippers who moved up from the 7 pick to the 2 pick. They could use the pick on Andrew Bogut, who would make the most sense ath #2 if Utah doesn't take him.
Biggest Loser: Milwaukee Bucks who fell from pick no.2 to pick no.4. They could have had a chance to get Bogut, but lost in the lottery. They might have to make a reach and get
Channing Frye because they do not need any PG's (they already have ford and mo williams).
Everyone else stayed where they were suppposed to be. The Sixers will pick 20th and 50th, for the people wondering about that.
RETIREES
Now a look at the people who decided to call it a career...
Other retirees not posted are...
Tony Massenburg
Scott Williams
Robert Pack
Ervin Johnson
From the players retiring this year, some will have their numbers retired, some will be in the Hall of Fame.
Hall of Famers: Karl malone, Reggie Miller, Dikembe Mutombo, Rod Strickland
Retired Numbers: Utah Karl Malone #32, Indiana Reggie Miller #31, Denver Dikembe Mutombo #55, Washington Rod Strickland #1.
The Sixers brought in a few players for pre-draft workouts.
PRE-DRAFT WORKOUTS
WORKOUT 1- Nate Robinson, PG, 5'9", 181 lbs., Washington, Jr (Projected top 20 pick)
The team decided to put Jannero Pargo up against Robinson, and he was no match. Robinson started off things with a dunk...

and he continued to dominate while getting help from Pargo, who put up a bunch of low percentage mid-range shots. Robinson ended with this 360...

and he won 11-6.
WORKOUT 2- Gerald Green, SG/SF, 6'8", 200 lbs., HS Sr. (Projected top 20 pick)
In the "battle of green", Willie was the one who came out on top. Gerald Green was impressive with some dunks. Here are a few.
But Willie dominated with good points and tough D, winning 11-6.
WORKOUT 3- Rashad McCants, SG, 6'3", 207 lbs.,UNC Jr. (Projected top 15 pick)
McCants did not play well against Willie Green. Green outclassed him, and showed who deserves to play here. McCants got this dunk...

which was the only highlight for him. This was the score.
WORKOUT 4- Wayne Simien, PF, 6'8", 255 lbs.,Kansas Sr. (Projected late 1st round)
The Sixers decided to put Simien against Deng Gai, and Gai dominated with a bunch of blocked shots. He also had plenty of nice dunks...
and Simien lost 11-6.
WORKOUT 5- Hakim Warrick, PF/SF, 6'8", 220 lbs.,Syracuse Sr. (Projected Top 20)
Warrick was brought in and faced Kyle Korver. The three point shooter even had a dunk...
and dominated, winning 11-7. This was Warrick's high point.
WORKOUT 6- Jason Billones (Kobe101), PG/SG, 6'3", 190 lbs., UCLA (Projected Late 2nd Round)
The team brought in Sarunas Jasikevicius to face Billones. However, Billones came with his stuff today, scoring at will. However, Sarunas scored a lot too. But Billones finished on top...

by making that layup and winning.
WORKOUT 7- Sam Keon (Sensation), SF/SG, 6'7", 190 lbs., Iran (Projected Late 2nd Round)
Sensation came in against Kyle Korver. It was a tough matchup, with both players exchanging baskets. The margin of victory was only 2 points, made on these two dunks.
The Sixers plan to draft
Nate Robinson and
Sam Keon with their picks. Now on to re-signing players.
RE-SIGN FREE AGENTS
First I started off by re-signing Steven Hunter. Then, I tried to resign Sam Dalembert. He wanted 7 years and $41 million. I offered 6 years, $35.24 million, with increases of 7%.
Next I tried to re-sign Kyle Korver, who wanted a 4 year deal for about 8.3 million. I liked it and offered him that.
Next i looked to re-sign Willie Green. He wanted 5 years for about $21 million. I liked the years, but offered $20.5 mil.
Next I looked to make the first part of a sign-and-trade that will send Sarunas Jasikevicius to Indiana. I gave him the deal that he wanted, and soon enough he will not be in Philly anymore.
All 4 players accepted my offers, and now we look around the league to see what stars re-signed.
Now onto the 2005 NBA Draft.

Now onto free agent signings...
FREE AGENCY
The Sixers decided to stay quiet during the free agency period. They were locked up at every position. However, there was one very interesting move...
Maybe part of a blockbuster trade to San Antonio

. I heard that Atlanta would then get Brent Barry and one of the Spurs umpteen power forwards.
Here were the other transactions made...
Pistons sign Michael Doleac, DeSagna Diop
Nets sign Steve Blake, DeShawn Stevenson.
Bucks sign Marcus Haislip, Zaza Pachulia, Alonzo Mourning, Junior Harrington
Hawks sign Jabari Smith, Dion Glover, Desmond Ferguson, Smush Parker, Michael Finley
Bobcats sign Predrag Drobjnak, Kedrick Brown, Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones
Sonics sign Jason Collins, Roger Mason Jr., Earl Watson, Primoz Brezec, Joe Johnson
Bulls sign Rodney Buford, Jelani McCoy, Troy Murphy, Bobby Jackson
Warriors sign Tyronn Lue, Jerome Moiso
Suns sign Quinton Ross, Dan Gadzuric
Clippers sign David Young, Emanuel Handzus (generated)
PLAYER TRADES
The Sixers did not trade Sarunas, Jackson, or McKie yet. They will be dealt sometime during the season.
Only one trade was made. The Cavs traded Robert Traylor to the Nets for Zoran Planinic. This trade benefits both teams, as the Nets get a starting PF while the Cavs add a backup PG for Eric Snow.
This is the Sixers opening day roster.
The Sixers look to repeat this year. Miami gets the label as "Most likely to knock off the Sixers."
