SIXERS ON TOP OF THE WORLD
Philly wins championship for first time since 1983.
Sixers-123
T-Wolves 118 (OT)
Marc Jackson holds up the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
Minneapolis, MN (AP) -- All the pressure was on the Timberwolves, but they were leading by one heading into the 4th. Sam Dalembert, who was brilliant so far in the series, was plagued by foul troubles. However, Marc Jackson stepped up when Dalembert was on the bench. "I really felt great out there," said Jackson, who had 17 points. Then the Sixers took control, getting the lead. With under two minutes left and the shot clock winding down, Andre Iguodala took an off-balance 3.

He made it, and the crowd was stunned. However, the Timberwolves would not give up, bringing the lead down to 1, when Kyle Korver drained 2 free throws. But then when Sam Cassell took a 3 pointer, the ref called a foul on Allen Iverson. In his head AI was obviously saying every 4-letter word he could think of. But he made sure not to argue, because a technical foul is the last thing he would want. Cassell sank the free throws, and with 18 seconds left Iverson got the ball and held it for a while. Then he fired up a three at the buzzer.

It went in and out, and the Target Center breathed a sigh of relief. We go to overtime.
Jim O'Brien, who said that if the Sixers won, he would retire (hint, hint), brought back Sam Dalembert into the game. In the first 10 seconds, Daly got the ball, but then Eddie Griffin, in for Mark Madsen, who fouled out, stole the ball, and Dalembert tried to reach in. He got called for it, ending a bad day for him. No problem on Marc Jackson's side. He went out and continued his great day.
In overtime, Andre Iguodala had a chance to get a triple double, needing only 2 assists. The first pass was an alley-oop to Chris Webber,

and the second was a pass to Jackson that he laid in.

With that out of the way, the Sixers just focused on winning the game. After Kevin Garnett missed a 3, the Sixers ran out the clock and the championship was theirs.
In a stellar performance, Kevin Garnett was the player of the game.

With that, the Sixers would like to recognize the 16 people that made the season for the Philadelphia 76ers.
JIM O'BRIEN
O'Brien had to fight through everything. When the Sixers were getting beat up and injured near the end of the regular season, O'Brien was able to get the most out of his lineups. Using players like Josh Davis and Michael Bradley got him to know everyone on the team. O'Brien has now retired as he wants to retire as a winner.
BILLY KING
Billy King made some moves this year that helped the team significantly. First he traded John Salmons to the Bulls for Jannero Pargo, who turned out to be even better then King himself would have imagined. He also released Kevin Ollie, who had done pratically nothing, and brought Sarunas Jasikevicius over from Lithuania. Jasikevicius played PG and SG and was best 3-point option on the team other then Kyle Korver.
SAM DALEMBERT
In the regular season, Dalembert was a good rebounder, a guy who was a monster on defense, but was an average scorer. However, that all changed in the playoffs, when he showed how good he was against the Timberwolves, putting up ridiculous offensive numbers while still being that monster on defense.
CHRIS WEBBER
Webber was the only player on the team to start all 82 games this season. Coming off an injury, Webber came back to average 20 points and 11 boards a night. NBA Insider HonorGlow named him Team MVP for the Sixers this season. In the playoffs, he played at the same level, and played great D on Kevin Garnett.
ANDRE IGUODALA
The kid showed a bunch of promise, and did what the Sixers wished for when they drafted him #9 in 2004. He won the Slam Dunk Contest, but was also a great lock-down defender. He plays either SG or SF depending on which is the bigger threat. He also won east rookie of the month in december over the likes of Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor, and a bunch of Chicago Bulls.
KYLE KORVER
Korver was the 3 point weapon that the Sixers needed, draining threes from all over the place to help the Sixers. The Sixers look to him any time a big 3 is made, and usually, he steps up. Also he is the team's best free throw shooter, and makes all the clutch shots.
ALLEN IVERSON
AI has been the center of the franchise since he was a rookie way back in 96-97. He was always known for that wicked crossover and his cornrows. Now, he has become more of a team player, finally getting that title that has eluded him until now. He also shot down rumors of him being a ball hog with his pinpoint passing.
MARC JACKSON
Jackson has always stepped up when he has to fill in for Sam Dalembert. He is a veteran, and truly a solid player off the bench. He is a very good free throw shooter and had some great games when Dalembert was out for about a week near the end of the season.
WILLIE GREEN
Green was another threat off the bench for the Sixers. Mainly backing up Allen Iverson and Kyle Korver, Green showed a lot of potential, with great passing skills good for any team. Although he got injured for a while, Green could become a future star on this team.
RODNEY ROGERS
Rogers is another old vet on the 76ers, who backed up Chris Webber and Andre Iguodala. He got his time starting and had some great nights for the Sixers. He might come back for another year and help out the franchise.
AARON MCKIE
Mckie has been with the Sixers for a long time, playing for Philly since being acquired in a trade that sent Jerry Stackhouse to Detroit. Only player from the 01 team other then AI, he was a good 3 point shooter while backing up Andre Iguodala.
MATT BARNES
Many people thought that Barnes would not play at all for the Sixers this season. They all thought wrong. Getting a bunch of his points and minutes when there were injuries, Barnes stepped up in the time he was given. He had a good season with the Sixers.
SARUNAS JASIKEVICIUS
Jasikevicius was signed near the trading deadline and contributed right away. He turned out to be the great 3 point shooter that he was when he was in Lithuania. He also showed that he was a team player by playing a lot of shooting guard this year while letting Jannero Pargo play PG.
MICHAEL BRADLEY
Bradley also got his chance when a bunch of players were injured. He contributed with some rebounding and gave the Sixers another big man. The Villanova kid was ok off the bench until he got injured with all the other people.
JANNERO PARGO
He was acquired in a trade just before the season started and gave the Sixers some good production off the bench. His best games came when he started 13 games due to some injuries. Also was a very good free throw shooter when he got to the line.
JOSH DAVIS
Yet again another player who got his time due to all the injuries, Davis was able to contribute by being a team player while getting his share of points. He even started a game during the season for the Sixers.
This is your LAST CHANCE to get in the 2005 Draft. 3 spots are still remaining. Otherwise im filling out the rest of the draft with euroleague players.
