Brooks led the Rockets to drew first blood against the Clippers
Clippers 93, Rockets 104 | Team Stats
Houston, TX - So the Los Angeles Clippers made the Playoffs but faced a much heavier and better team the Houston Rockets. The Game 1 goes to the Rockets as they dazzled on 104-93 victory.
The game started a pretty bit slow and sloppy but suddenly Rockets got into a fast run, Kevin Martin chipped in his 12 of his 26 points in the first quarter. Rockets early relied on their backcourt and defending very well the post. They ended the first with a comfortable 24-16 lead. While on the second, Clippers started a 12-3 run led by the rookie, Blake Griffin by scoring 11 in that quarter, he had 23 points all in all and also grabbed 14 boards. Clippers didn't give any of their possession and didn't commit any single turnover on the said quarter. But the problem is the three-point shooting, with Eric Gordon being out because of an injury, they lost much of their trifector weapons, somehow backup Rasual Butler stepped up and rolled with 11 points. After two, Rockets still carrying the lead.
Rockets center Yao Ming became beast in the third and abused his matchup, he ended up with a huge double-double, 14 points and 14 rebounds. All of the Rockets starters scored double digits except Luis Scola who only held up into 6 points. The backcourt duo of Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin combined for 49 points.
"We are definitely on our prime, we won the game great and we are looking to be like that on game 2, you still give the guys credit for playing hard 'till the end." coach Rick Adelman said. Rockets scored more on the fastbreak 12-3. The Clippers never led throughout the game but they almost got the lead because of the offensive onslaught of Griffin and Chris Kaman who put 12 points but a dismal 2 rebounds. Talk about poor performance, Baron Davis got into foul trouble early and only scored 8 points. But his backup Steve Blake carry the load by shooting perfect from the field and tallied 11 points.
Game two will be in Houston again and Clippers may look to comeback.

Rockets take 2-0 series lead behind Ariza's big game
Clippers 115, Rockets 123 | Team Stats
Houston, TX - Yet, the Rockets backcourt combo again shines-just good enough to win.
Man of the game Trevor Ariza finished with 30 points on 11-18 shooting, Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks had 26 and 24 respectively and the Houston Rockets took a commanding 2-0 lead with a 123-115 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers last night.
The Rockets trio of scorers was stellar and took over the whole game. The game somehow was tight, but Clippers gave up again.
Vintage show of Baron Davis wasn't enough to tie the series, as he scored 30 point along with 13 assists. Travis Outlaw dagger of late threes still lacked but he ended up huge too, 24 points, 6-12 from 3point range. But their poor free-throw shooting is a big reason why they're heading home still searching for their first playoff win since the last three years.
Game 3 in the best-of-seven series will be held on Clippers home, Los Angeles. Where we can expect fans cheering wild and loud for the Clips.
As I've said earlier, the match is been played tightly, only on those first three quarters, after eight minutes of action on the first, Clippers lead first time on their series with a span of 5 but ended the quarter trailing 1 point. Their guard Rasual Butler somehow filled Gordon's void with his sharpshooting skills, but Clippers need more athleticism and offense.
The Ariza show is felt midway second quarter, where he put two consecutive threes and a breakaway dunk, but luckily, Clippers is running as fast as the blazing Rockets. Identical 60-60 at the scoreboard after first half.
Eventually, the backcourt strikes and took the reigns.
Rockets opened the third with a 10-0 run that the Clippers seemed to be surprised. Ariza used a drop step, spin right and hammered home a one-handed dunk over Travis Outlaw, that started the Rockets push and never looked back. Kevin Martin showed no effects of his injury by slicing through defenders through the lane for several layups late in the third quarter. Aaron Brooks is been awesome and dishing the ball very well as he had nine assists. The three of them anchored the run that put the Rockets ahead 91-87 after three quarters with their entire bench standing, waving towels, shouting and smiling as they pulled ahead a lead against the crafty Clippers.
Rockets build a 15 point lead on the fourth, but after Clippers trimmed the lead to only six points with 2:23 time remaining, Ariza followed with a trifector then the Clippers turned the ball over, Yao Ming who had 8 points that night pulled a tough hook-shot and count, that sealed Rockets win. Outlaw didn't lose hope and put a three consecutive threes but the Rockets are way too good and keep on responding on the threes.
The Rockets find themselves ahead two game to none as the series shifts to Los Angeles, will they prevail and take a much expected 3-0 lead or they will fall due to Clippers greatness and fans?

The Cavaliers and Bulls are not teams that are used to shootouts – especially in the postseason. But that’s what Game 2 turned out to be. Unfortunately for Cleveland, the Bulls had just a little more ammo.
