You should see what did they do to Lithuania at the semi's in Athens...
It's they're only good weapon and they use it well.

You need to put fast defenders on 'em!(And I do believe China doesn't have 'em...)

guess I hate Italy in Soccer and Basketball now too.

thats why China needs to get into another fight, just like they did against Puerto Rico. Mo Ke and Du Feng were like Jackie Chan and Jet Li, chasing the Puerto Rican players all around the court, kicking them in the ass

Almost fell off my chair when I saw that Turkey beat Lith. wonder if they celebrated by cooking a turkey.

btw what did they do to lith anyways. we dont get euro basketball stuff here, its too dominated by the piece of shit USA basketball news.

i guess they played basketball. Lithuania dont have their best team there... Turkey IMHO is underrated by everybody. They pulled off a 2 point upset and thats bout it. CHina should take a page out of their book lol

A Team Effort Earns Team USA Gold
China Starts Off Hot but Team USA Pulls Away in Second Half

By WILL SIT, AP Writer
September 3, 2006

CHN: 30 - 20 - 17 - 31 - 98
USA: 31 - 27 - 36 - 33 - 127

JAPAN (AP) -- China got off to a hot start as they led by 10 points and were shooting 8 for 12 from behind the stripe. Wei Liu had the hot hand scoring three early treys and leading the team with 10 points while Yi Jianlan was dunking on Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James. An upset was evident before Team China went ice cold.

The United States marched on to win the gold medal at the FIBA World Championships as they returned to the top of basketball after 6 years of basketball underachievement. The last time they had come first in either the World Championships or the Olympics was back in Sydney 2000.

China was shooting hot before they missed every trey they attempted; going 0 for 8 in the third quarter and only scoring their next three pointer with 4 minutes left in the game. They had missed every three pointer they had attempted since the 5:34 mark in the second through to the 4:21 mark of the fourth quarter. Li Nan made four threes in a row afters that but promptly fouled out.

That was the story of the evening for the inexperienced Chinese side whose dream run had come to a crashing end. Too many fouls in the start and stop match while their inability to get the ball into Yao Ming contributed to the loss. By the time Nan had scored 10 fourth quarter points and Yao had 15 fourth quarter points, it was too late as Team USA had already won the game late in the third period.

Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul scored 19 points apiece. Paul came off the bench and sank an incredible 17 for 18 from the charity stripe. 8 of the 11 players on the game roster scored in double figures as it was a strict team effort. Every player got court time as injured team mate Gilbert Arenas watched on from the bench.

Coach K was proud of his country, “We won this with our hard work and we’re looking forward to Beijing in 2008.” Team USA gets automatic qualification into the Olympics.

For China, it looks like they will need a bit more time to build up the depth it needs to compete for a gold medal. For Yao Ming, he knew his team was lucky to even make the Finals; let alone win it. “It was good for us to play in a big event like this and certainly reach the gold medal game,” Yao said, “I’m looking forward to Beijing in 2008. We are obviously going top aim a little higher for the gold medal.”

Yao who put up 27 points and 16 rebounds but found it harder than any other game to score at will did get help from his team-mates at the start. Coach Kazlauskas was pleased, “For the first time in this tournament, our players stepped up at the start. Foul trouble and inexperience may have set us back a bit and our lack of depth hurt. However, we had a strong game and we were very close at half time.”

Wei Liu who shot 3 for 4 from behind the perimeter foolishly fouled out late in the second quarter and that led to China’s offence slowing down. Li Nan was in foul trouble early and despite trailing by just a few points at half time, the Chinese couldn’t keep it up. Back up PG Yue Sun fouled out in the third period while starting SG Li Nan fouled out as well in the fourth period.

The early exits of China’s starting and back up point guards hurt the team a lot as the team traditionally isn’t particularly strong in the back court. “It hurt them (China) a lot,” Coach K noted, “They don’t have the best ball handlers on their team so their bigs weren’t getting the ball as much. And their starting point guard was their best shooter tonight.”

Team USA slowly opened up a double digit lead thanks to Joe Johnson scoring 8 points and Shane Battier scoring 9 for the quarter. Shane Battier’s three point shot and Carmelo Anthony’s three pointer put them up by 15 in the third. China tried to come back but Chris Paul stole the ball off of Wang Zhizhi and that led to Elton Brand scoring to put Team USA up 77-60 late in the third. Battier scored another trey late to give USA a 21 point lead and one they didn’t relinquish.

Bruce Bowen later came on to score two more treys and got USA up by 30 points early in the fourth. China got consolation as Li Nan scored his four threes within a 2 minute period and limit the margin back down below 20 points. Team USA then cruised to victory on the back of Lebron James’ 9 fourth quarter points.

“We’re ready to win in 2 years time,” Lebron James laughed, “Watch out for us!”

Yeah, I forgot to mention Dickel was suspended... he's a player who's been with the national team for as long as I can rememeber and he's pretty decent. Looks to me like NZ has 11 players now and is awaiting his return (am i right/wrong?)... anyways, I hope he returns! lol

they'll still keep playing but the team is definitely not the same without him out there....his speed & passing ability are what we need from the PG position....hopefully we can win the games that we should & cause an upset against Germany

FIBA Real Life Tournament Watch... Day 2

Just a bit of random ranting from me!

Ok... i will start my rambling now... my mate tells me that Aussies arent running plays for bogut. I ask Mr Goorijan why not? hes our best player. I know we've traditionally been an outside shooting team with guys like Shane Heal and Andrew Gaze. But back then, they were our best players. Now we got Andrew Bogut who is IMHO by far our best player on the team, why can't we get him to score more, get more touches at least. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I've heard. My mate says that he doesn't get enough chances. So I will stick with my arguement.

Andrew does his job though and that's what I like bout the guy. With the Bucks, he never complains and does his job. Learnt to play in PF instead of C and played a very complimentary role in the Bucks' system. I only wish Aussies would use him like Germnay use Dirk and China uses Yao... I wish lol

EDIT1: Ok, just checked in on the result.. Aussies lost in the fourth quarter. Looked at the box score... Bogut was 3/8... 8 shots??? Why only 8 shots? Flo told me Dirk wasn't the goto guy and he got 7 shots in his game??? This sucks man... pass the rock to Bogut... i cant watch the game but I will sure ask around what happened... seriously... CJ Bruton scores 24 points yeh... shot 5/11 from three point range... good, he makes his shots BUT on a night when hes cold, i dont wanna see him go 2/11... seriosuly, Goorijan, change our strategy already!!!

EDIT2: After much persuasion from Flo and H ROck, i reopened my sopcast to watch it... dont u all love procrastinating?

EDIT3: USA playing with repeated rotating onto the ball on defence.. something I havent seen wioth many Team USA teams in the recent past... its a good fresh plan lol... Melo, my fave player on the team right now... scoirng three times if im not mistaken... love it... And Yao is doing great for china... looking for mroe movement from the chinese and try not to be forced to the sides and bottom of the court please...

EDIT4: I'm impressed with Team USA's pressing and fats break which are a result of their effort on defence. Great work (Y) China's losing but it is to a better team... i hope we can learn from this.

EDIT5: Sopcast caused problem with my router... all fixed now... USA: 28, China: 12

EDIT6: To everyone, I remember when Yao was in the league earlier he always got the ball knocked out of his hands easier and yeh, it always happens... just a question to everybody... is it cause hes weak or is it cause hes too tall lol? He has to bring the ball from so low to high quickly?? Anyways... impressed with both teams I guess...

And to H Rock, Yao's been playing like this since All-Star weekend... in an interview he shared with media that he learnt how to be a leader on the court... it was great to hear!

EDIT7: Even one of the most optimistic fans like me sees that this game is over... China's struggling against wave after wave of defenders and Team USA is just too quick for them when they need to defend... Flo is right, they dont play Defence... maybe they feel a bit overwhelmed? And also because the Chinese are a bit too slow...

EDIT8: I liked Chris Paul's lay up before!!! and all of a sudden its halftime... And yep, what's with Hack-A-Yao... I mean, Yao hits most of his free throws but IO guess any team doesnt want Yao getting open buckets.. love it how Battier has alreayd hit his new team mate twice!!!

EDIT9: It wasnt halftime but a timeout but anyhow... are my eyes tricking me??? Chian went 3/12... thats USA taking it to you lol USA was like 15/20 lol

EDIT10: This is a game that my team should play in... We are getting hammered cause of USA's full court press... they are putting on a clinic down there and it's defintely quite a learning experience for the Chinese (Y)

HALFTIME EDIT: I think its 65-38 and its halftime... ok... ok shooting from China... when our shooters shoot well, they do well but when they're off... itsd quite horrible.. and in most games they are usually quite sporadic lol...

My views of the game is that China is just too slow and not good enough to compete with the USA... the Americans are doing a good job of containing Yao and also shutting down our backcourt... seeing that our Guards aren't the best ballhandlers you can have (i wish we did have ball handlers to help Yao out)...

Dont feel like there are too many positives for China but Yao and at leats they haven't given up I guess...

And on the CCTV5.. theyre having some kind of sms poll.. seems like a MVP poll and Yao's winning it.. i dunno.. i like national pride but... i hate bias lol... anyways... i might be wrong since i dont speak mandarin and only know canton so yeh... correct me if im worng. i think its a sms poll to decide the game mvp and yao's winning by a lot lol

Ok, checked site and its 38-63... Wade has 15, Paul has 13 and Melo has 10 and Dwight has 8... everyone but Miller and Bosh have scored for USA. Yao has 10 and 5... 8-10 FT and 1-3 FG... Yeh, the field goal shows how much he's being hit in the paitn repeatedly whenever he get's the ball.. sucks to be Yao lol. Hes doing pretty damn well though with the type of defence being played against him.

Well, here's (B) to a better second half! Go China! Hope to see some solid play and hopefully win a quarter at least! :D

EDIT12: Quick unrelated edit... Spain whipping whoever theyre playing.. Serbia and France pretty close and same with Lithuania and Greece... back to the game!!! Just restarted!

EDIT13: Fuck Lebron was quick on that lol... but then Yao scores I think i heard so its all good. No 7 Shipeng is playing damn well with 17 points... Yaos got 14 and 6 i assume...

EDIT14: Yao's got 15 and 7... and yeh... i figured that Live updates faster wat the hell lol

EDIT15: Wow, Yao btiched to the ref hahaha... that's freaking awesome!!! 66-51...

EDIT16: What a champ coach China has lol... was he paying out lebron or something lol

EDIT17: We're way too slow and too weak to compete... its just sad. Guards getting harrased into going to the corners/sides and turning over the ball... it sucks and sorta hard to watch... we have the height though, thats the only size we have... China still has a long ways to go...

EDIT18: Go the floor sweepers!!! Yay... and yeah, i think Yao's left the court. :(

EDIT19: Yao didnt go off before... 93-62 end of 3rd quarter... hope we get to 80 at least... the games getting sorta hard to watch... i hate watching my team lose by so much... its sorta painful.,. wish u were there lol... nice hustle tho at the end with I think it was Yao diving for the ball then they got it to someone who banked the shot... great work... good theyre not giving up.

Gotta five credit to the USA for their play and same with Yao and China. Maybe we will get closer in 2 years time... although it's lookign tough, I'm sure we will be a bit more competitive in 2 years...

EDIT20: Mo Ke just hit a three for China, you guys may remember him or maybe not... I think he did enter the NBA Draft... Jing can help me with that... but yeh, the big man can play outside too; same with most of his big man teammates... anyways... i will be off of this for a while and post my summary later....

EDIT21: Just quickly... France beat Serbia in a lowscoring 65-61. Spain destroyed Panama 101-57.. Rudy Fernandez had 21 points (Y) nice work Rudy... Lithuania and Greece are pretty close together!!!

- - -

Well, China lost 121-90... better than the exhibition loss IMO... lol and Yao coast to coast (Y)(Y)(Y)

We even nearly won the last quarter and now, thats gold!!!

So yeh... sorta take some good things but mostly bad... wat else can i ask for???

oh wait.. we did win the last quarter by 2... yeahhh!!!

Yao was good with 21 and 10... its good :)

Good finals with realistic score I think  Yao was really great, he deserved the Tournament MVP (Y)
Looking forward to All-Tournament Game

This seems to have become the unofficial thread for the WC. Strange that there's no official one up.

Sit, I can't believe you don't want to watch the games. Even with the buffering and bad quality, watching the game is way better than the box score. And Yao was well worth it. He played better than I've ever seen him. He was dunking, making jumpers from way out...he was great, to say the least. Too bad Du Feng was the only mildly supportive player for Yao, and he only played in the fourth.

Sun Aug 20, 2006 8:10 pm

I like that the USA won, it would have been too predictable if you'd gone the whole way with China (Y)

Sun Aug 20, 2006 8:27 pm

Thanks lots Mark... Well, I tried to win, then my best player in Liu Wei foulled out, couldnt hit a shot... i lost to the cpu fair and square.

And dont worry H Rock... seriously, i dont have the time to watch games also u know... and yeh, i hate buffereing... so yeh... i cant really watch games!

Sun Aug 20, 2006 8:50 pm

Nope... lol.. not that i know of man.
And sorry man... ur name seems jap lol

and how do u like this dynasty?

Sun Aug 20, 2006 9:16 pm

we're really missing Dickel, but the tournament really starts for the Kiwis tomorrow in a what I consider a must-win game to secure ourselves an opportunity to move on as the No. 3 seed....unfortunately for us, Dickel is out against Angola who seems to be playing surprisingly well, so I think that game could come down to the wire....Dickel will be back for the final two games which we should win....but damn, ahh well, at least the 2 hard games are out of the way....the tournament starts tomorrow for the Kiwis....damn, we really miss Marks, we got no rebounding or inside presence (N)

Sun Aug 20, 2006 9:20 pm

Yeh well X... things should look up soon man... I hope u guys win 2 games... thats all u need to advance...

Sun Aug 20, 2006 9:21 pm

I think we'll get the 2 wins required....with Dickel out against Angola, I'm not pencilling it in as a guaranteed win anymore....all the games will be dogfights from here out....we just never seem to match up well against the Germans

Sun Aug 20, 2006 9:34 pm

Hanamichi... yep, thats why you got the jap name lol

And X... yeh, i hope u guys advance... gotta meet u in the semis u know!
