PLAYOFFS 2005-06 ~ Game 1 of the Second Round

Gooden gets posterized by Ricky Davis

The Bucks Fail to Beat Cleveland at Home
Larry Hughes and LeBron James gets the Cavs past Milwaukee in a close win.

Milwaukee
Points: Redd, 27
Rebounds: Bogut, 9
Assists: Ford, 8

Cleveland
Points: Hughes, 28
Rebounds: Ilgauskas, 10
Assists: Hughes, 6

Milwaukee could not defeat a high flying, accurate Cavaliers team despite having the homecourt advanatge. It seemed whenever the Bucks were about to close the game, or shorten the lead Cleveland held late in the fourth quarter, a member of the Cavs would hit a contested three pointer and in turn, drive out all hopes of a Milwaukee comeback.
James and Hughes both played great defence on Korver and Redd respectively, not allowing them to get open shots, and did not fall for their head fakes.
The next time they face each other they are playing in Cleveland, Milwaukee is playing to keep their finals hopes alive.

Player of the Game

Gadzuric gets huge air on this massive dunk.

Milwaukee Keeps Finals Hopes Alive
Korver and Redd scored nearly 40 each on excellent shooting to propel the Bucks to a great win.

Milwaukee
Points: Korver, 38
Rebounds: Jefferson, 8
Assists: Ford, 11

Cleveland
Points: Snow, 28
Rebounds: Ilgauskas, 15
Assists: Ilgauskas, 5

Korver and Redd not only scored a large majority of the points for Milwaukee, but they also did it accurately. Korver shot 13-22, with 9-16 from downtown, and even that performance was outshone by Michael Redd, who scored 36 on 12-19 shooting, 8-10 from three point range.
Bogut was very quiet, getting into foul trouble early on in the game and only playing very limited minutes before being fouled out.
In the upcoming final match between these two teams, it will be a fight for survival in their last chance to contend for the NBA Finals.

Player of the Game
Kyle Korver
38 points
2 rebounds
4 assists

Great recaps man (Y) Good luck in Game 3, you will need it! If you win, who will you fight in Conference Finals?

Ricky Davis shows off his hops as Damon Jones does his best to get out of the way.

The Bucks Have Their Finals Hopes Dashed
Foul trouble and poor offence keeps Milwaukee from continuing their finals run

Milwaukee
Points: Korver, 25
Rebounds: Jefferson, 7
Assists: Ford, 10

Cleveland
Points: Hughes, 21
Rebounds: Ilgauskas, 12
Assists: Snow, 9

Bogut and co. combined for 25 blocks, but even that wasn't enough to hold Cleveland to a low score. Larry Hughes recieved treatment to his back after a nasty fall in the second quarter, leaving the court to go to the rooms, however was able to come back to the game later on and win it for the Cavs. He had 21, many of which came in the final, and most decisive quarter.
Cleveland took 122 shots to Milwaukee's 84, yet only won by 7 points. One of the Bucks goals in the upcoming offseason should be to tighten their defence so they don't let 122 shots be taken against them in such an important game.
Both T.J. Ford and Andrew Bogut had to play extremely limited minutes on account of their foul trouble, however Bogut was still able to rack up a statline of 9-5-7 before being fouled out in the fourth.

The Milwaukee organisation wishes the best of luck to Cleveland in their bid to be the NBA champions.

Well the NBA Finals are over, and LeBron James has proved the doubters wrong and taken the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the NBA Finals, against a strong Memphis team, who knocked out the reigning champs, San Antonio, in the second round. Cleveland beat Detroit in the first round.

Draft Lottery

There were some real surprises here. Toronto jumped to get the first pick overall, Minnesota also climbed the table and will receive the second pick. New Orleans sank to the fourth pick, despite having a good chance at being first.
Milwaukee has the last pick (30th) and Knicks have the 29th, even though they both shared the same record.

Rookie Scouting

Milwaukee has some time over the next month or so to further scout the rookies they feel have potential to be able to perform in the NBA.

Dia Khufu
Age: 23
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 242
Position: SF, PF

NBA Comparison: A poor mans Kyle Korver with added shot blocking and strength.
A strong prospect in the NBA, predicted to go late second round, Khufu is a strong shot blocker as well as a good stealer and can also hit the three. He is slow for a small forward, and maybe not athletic enough for his position. He is very strong for his age.

Image

Ben Vuu
Age: 23
Height: 7'5"
Weight: 249
Position: C
NBA Comparison: Yao Ming, Ben Wallace

This 7'5" monster hailing from Malaysia has the potential to become a taller Ben Wallace. He is able to jump through the roof, and has huge basketball IQ. His speed and quickness leaves something to be desired, however.

Image

Rolf Rider
Age: 23
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 223
Position: PG, SG, SF
NBA Comparison: Boris Diaw with Korver's shooting

Because of this young man's versatility, it is amazing he is not predicted to go earlier in the draft. He can shoot three pointers like nothing else, his field goal shooting in general is some of the best ever seen in a rookie. An anomoly is that his free throw shooting is terrible, averaging only 65% from the line during college.

Image

Cassius Stanton
Age: 24
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 202
Position: PG
NBA Comparison: Jose Calderon

Cassius has huge potential to be a great player in the NBA, yet unfortenately not this year. He is predicted to not be drafted by a team, mainly because of his lack of ability. He has a strong work ethic.

I like Vuu and Rider, but I doubt I will be able to get both... it is possible though, just highly unlikely

Rider will definately be my first choice
