thanks guys. COOLmac I'm going to post the standings pretty soon, but one more win should put me in either the #3 or #4 seed, depending on how other teams fare...But first, a very important final regular season game:
Game #29: Milwaukee Bucks (18-10) @ Philadelphia 76ers (19-8)
MIL 110, PHI 104 (O.T.)
Bucks Win Overtime Thriller- Potentially Critical Game Goes Down to the Wire
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA- The Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers played a very important game last night that could affect the seeding and first round matchups of the upcoming playoffs. The Bucks came in with an 18-10 record, good for the #4 spot in the East, and the 76ers at 19-8 held the #3 seed. If the Bucks could win and improve their record to 19-10, then they would have a chance at stealing the #3 seed if Phili lost their last game and also finished with a 19-10 record. That’s because in the event of tied records in the playoff seedings, the first tiebreaker between 2 teams gives the team that won the season series over the other the higher seed. So since this was the first and only game the Bucks were facing the 76ers, they
HAD to win the game to have a shot at the #3 seed.
Phili knew this too, and played like it right off the bat. They were extremely aggressive, aided by the thunderous cheering of their loyal fans. Center Samuel Dalembert started his assault on the boards,
grabbing 7 in the quarter alone
, and Andre Iguodala (10 points on 5-for-5 shooting) and Hidayet Turkoglu (8 points) lead the offensive charge. With these efforts, the Sixers quickly built up an early 9 point lead at 22-13. Dwyane Wade’s 9 points were the only the Bucks had for Phili, as they found themselves trailing 26-19 after the first period. Milwaukee coach Terry Porter was worried, as well he should have been: his Bucks had shot just 31.8% in the quarter, had been manhandled on the boards 18-to-9, and Dwight Howard was
0-for-7 shooting

.
But things turned around for the Bucks in the second, thanks to the team finding a hot hand in reserve PF Robert Traylor. Traylor bulled his way to 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting

, and added 3 assists and 2 rebounds too. Outside threat Kareem Rush also stepped up for the Bucks, scoring 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting, including draining 2 threes, grabbing 4 boards, and dishing out a pair of assists. These two carried the Bucks to completely erase the 76ers’ lead, and rally so far as to put Milwaukee ahead by 10, 44-34. The lead didn’t last, though, as Philadelphia immediately answered with a 7-0 run to come within 3 at 44-41. Then, after a Traylor basket, Phili went on a 5-0 run, and with a Turkoglu 3-pointer tied the game back up at 46-46. Bucks coach Terry Porter had seen enough, and he called a timeout and inserted all of his starters back into the ballgame. Thanks to them the Bucks held a 50-48 lead at halftime.
The score stayed close in the third quarter, as both teams stuggled to establish the offensive and defensive consistency needed to take control of the game. Dalembert was once again crashing the boards hard, too hard for Coach Porter’s liking, so he put Dwight Howard in at center, a move that would turn out to be critical in the game. Wade was clicking with a 4-for-5 quarter, and the Bucks still held the lead heading into the fourth quarter, 72-71.
For the majority of the fourth period, Porter went with a strong lineup of Howard at center, Traylor at the 4, Grant Hill at the 3, Wade at the 2, and Nate Robinson playing the point. With it, the Bucks took an 80-75 lead, and kept a small advantage for most of the period.
At the 1:40 mark they lead 90-87, but then the Sixers scored 5 unanswered points to go up 92-90. It was another three-pointer by Turkoglu that gave them the lead, and caused the fans to go wild in their seats.

But Dwyane Wade answered with a quick score to tie it at 92. Allen Iverson followed with a basket to put Phili up again, and after both teams missed on consecutive possessions, Wade penetrated into the lane and scored on a reverse layup in heavy traffic. That nifty basket tied the ballgame once again at 94-94, now with 29.7 seconds left.
The 76ers burned some time off the clock, then turned to Iverson. AI burned Robinson to the hole, got off a short shot…MISS! Dalembert got yet another offensive rebound, and put it back up…MISS! The ball got knocked back out, and the Sixers found Iverson WIDE open for a 17-footer at the buzzer…MISS! Bucks coach Terry Porter let out a huge sigh of relief, and went about preparing his team for overtime.
Porter told his players in the huddle after the 4th quarter, “
We’ve got this game, we’ve got his game guys, come on! Somebody needs to crash the boards here, we’re getting walloped on the glass, and also someone’s got to step up and score for us now. We’ve come too far now to give up- let’s win this game…”
That’s exactly what the Milwaukee Bucks did. Dwight Howard
simply went to work on Samuel Dalembert- dunking on him on the first possession of OT, then scoring again on the next, and soaring high to snatch rebounds that Dalembert would have eaten up earlier in the game. In the overtime period, Howard had 8 points and 4 rebounds, while the entire 76ers team managed 10 points and 2 rebounds. Add the unceasing efforts of Dwyane Wade, who was 4-for-5 in OT, and the Bucks ran up a 110-104 lead. Only Howard and Wade scored for Milwaukee, but as has been the case for most of the season, that’s nothing new for the Bucks. The All-Star combo lead the team to their fourth straight win, and the Bucks finished this very good season with a 19-10 record.

Now they’ll have to wait and see how the 76ers fare in their final game to determine what playoff seeding they’ll get.
GAME NOTES
Samuel Dalembert had
24 rebounds in the game, including 12 offensive boards!
Dwight Howard (19 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Dwyane Wade (35 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) are a combination that are going to have to be reconciled with by any team that faces the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs.
