23-5 run fuels HEAT to easy victory, 2-0 advantage

The HEAT came out much more focused in game #2 and took an early lead and added a 23-5 run in the third quarter to cruise to a 109-94 win.

The biggest key in the game happened with just 2.41 gone by in the first quarter, as Deron Williams failed to stop Dwyane Wade's attack to the basket and picked up his 2nd foul and took an early seat on the bench. And just a minute later, Chris Bosh picked up his 2nd.

Without his big man, Dwyane Wade picked up the slack even more with help from Rudy Gay. Wade had complied 17 points in the first half.

Deron Williams picked up his third foul late in the 2nd quarter and had to be really careful, if he wanted to finish the game. Dwyane Wade wasn't gonna let that happen though, and Williams picked up his 4th with 9.36 left in the third quarter.

The Nets were able to keep up with the high-flying HEAT during the first half, not trailing by double-digits once. However, after Williams sat down with his fourth foul, the HEAT compiled a 23-5 run in the next 5 minutes.

That blew the lead to 25 points. The Nets would claw back a little bit as the HEAT got sloppy in the final period and racked up turnovers. They only scored 17 and the Nets made the final score respectable, sort-of. 109-94 is still a 15-point deficit, but it doesn't truly reflect on how one-sided the game, especially the second half, really was.

Wade admitted trying to do too much and while he did filled up the box score with 26 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals, he was responsible for 11 turnovers. The HEAT as a team had 24 while the Nets had just 10.

The key factor was New Jersey's shooting percentage from the field (33%, HEAT - 48%) and from the stripe (17-26, 65%; HEAT - 18-18 100%)

The series will now switch to New Jersey, where the HEAT have a clear goal - the series won't come back to Miami.

Good job shutting down Deron Williams en-route to your 2-0 lead, just don't drop the next 4

SuperHueyNewton, I think I added you already, will double-check that.

Sit, you guys got the first seed and if you make it, hopefully we'll face you. Bad news for you is that you have played 12 combined minutes in the first 2 games. (1-1 vs Hornets)

Valor, I seem to be able to handle PG's. Rose has struggled in every game we played against the Bulls. And Iblocka has had 7 blocks in both games so far, containing Dwight. So unless they find a third scorer, they won't get one win. :D

Hey Marti, Sorry if this is ignorant to say I am starting to read from here, but don't have the time to read 1257 posts to find out what happened to Lebron?

What happened to him can I ask?

Sorry if it offends you, I will be reading from now on.

No worries, glad to see you check out this thread.

I won the title in the first year, I traded him after that season, even though he was both the MVP and Finals MVP. The trade was LeBron for Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol and Memphis's #2 pick, who was Kyrie Irving. I later swapped Gasol for Ibaka.

Yes, I read your stories before i was AWOL for about a year (comp broke)... I'm glad you canned Lebron and not someone like Wade (I like wade a lot)... So I can go back to liking the Miami Heat... again :D.

Great lineup though.

Wade fills up the box score, pushes Nets on brink of elimination

Dwyane Wade was close to making history in game #3, but took an early seat as his team enjoyed a 21-point lead with 5 minutes left and the Heat cruised to a final score of 118-104.

Wade posted incredible all-around numbers - 34 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks and 4 steals, only a steal away from joining the elusive 5-by-5 club and being the first to do so in the Playoffs.

The HEAT jumped to an early lead behind aggressive play from Wade and Irving and with the defensive presence of Ibaka, the Nets found it difficult to score. Deron Williams and Dwight Howard struggled once again and the HEAT started to pull away.

To start the second quarter, Chris Bosh was on the bench and took a longer rest then usual, almost 6 minutes. He returned and made his mark, out-scoring the Nets 16-10 by himself in the final 5.23 of the quarter to help his side to a 13-point halftime lead.

At this point, Wade had just 11 points, 3 assists and no blocks.

The third quarter saw Wade scoring 19 points as the HEAT only built their lead. Rudy Gay came alive also, hooking up with Wade on a number of spectacular alley-oops.

And in the fourth, or at least the first 7 minutes of it, Wade would put the game to bed by himself with 6 assists and 4 blocks in that time before sitting down. Bosh, Gay and the rest of the starters also sat down and the HEAT reserves took over, while New Jersey played Howard and Williams until the final buzzer.

Williams scored 12 points in that span on 5-5 shooting, taking advantage of the tensionless game with them being blown out.

"I'm not one to count numbers or pad stats, so the most important thing is that we got the win. I wasn't aware anyway, maybe if I were, I'd have gotten distracted, who knows..." was Wade humble and laid back after such a performance.

Wade had 23 points, 9 assists, 5 blocks, 2 steals and 2 rebounds in the second half alone. He and the the rest of his HEAT have a chance to send the Nets fishing early in game #4 on Thursday.

Sit, not too well I'm afraid. In the first three games, you have played 18 minutes and scored 2 points combined. You have Nash and some other rookie guard in front of you. It's really uncommon in my stories that you don't score a lot. :D

HEAT cruise to second round with 22-point route

The HEAT look close to unbeatable based on their last three games. After a shaky game #1, which came down to the last second, the HEAT have routed the Nets by 15, 14 and 22 points to complete the sweep over the Nets, who played their last game in New Jersey.

Wade, the current front-runner for the MVP trophy, averaged 30.5 points, 11.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.3 steals on 51% shooting, continuing his spectacular season. Rudy Gay chipped in 27 points and Chris Bosh had 23 in the clincher.

The game was similar to the third game, with the start close and as soon as Howard and Williams started to get into foul trouble or just were fatigued, their deficit grew.

The Heat will face the winner of the Magic-Celtics series, where the Celtics are close to a second straight first-round exit, being down 3-2 with game #6 in Boston.

Re: HEAT | 1st rd vs NETS | ROY + Game #4

How did the NLSC-ers do in the first round?

Leo Lai | SG | Chicago Bulls

Lai has become a very successful contributor to the Bulls, ever since he was acquired via trade early in the season. Lai averaged just 10.5 points, 4th best on the Bulls, but his all-around play was very good for a rookie, as he also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.5 steals.

The Bulls beat the Knicks in 6 games thanks to Lai and a huge series from MVP candidate Derrick Rose, who averaged 25.7 points, 8.8 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals and a block per game.

Valdis Iesalnieks | C | Charlotte Bobcats

The Bobcats lost to the Pacers in 5 games, but Iesalnieks showed that he improved a lot during his rookie season. The 6'11 center from Latvia was close to a double-double every night and he averaged 8.8 points with team-leading 8.6 rebounds.

Thierry Tirieux | PG | New Jersey Nets

Tirieux had trouble seeing playing time in the crowded backcourt in New Jersey with Deron Williams and Kemba Walker. Tirieux did the best he could and averaged 5.3 points per game in the four game sweep they took from the Heat.

Will Sit | PG | Los Angeles Lakers

The first seeded had a tough series against the #8 Hornets as the series went to 7 games. The Lakers had 5 point guards on the active roster and Sit struggled to find time. The Lakers had Steve Nash, Maalik Wayns, Derek Fisher and Chris Wright all playing in the backcourt and Sit played just 7 minutes a game. Sit did the best he could and scored just 4 points in the whole series.
