2007 NBA All Star Game!

February 19, 2007 | East (34-21) @ West (21-34)

East: 26 35 30 29 120
West: 31 34 37 35 137

Las Vegas, NV - The NBA All-Star Weekend in Vegas went smoothly, albeit a bit dull. Following a fairly predictable rookie challenge and all-star Saturday is a fairly predictable all-star game.

Though the score was always close, the West All-Stars (coached by the Lakers' Phil Jackson) had control over (Wizards coach) Eddie Jordan's East. Throughout the game, the West was led by eventual All-Star MVP Tracy McGrady. McGrady came off the bench early in the first quarter, but ended up playing the most of any all-star at 33 minutes. He finished with 26 Points, 8 Rebounds and 7 Assists.

Stepping up for the East was the Wizards big 3 of Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Caron Butler (the former two acquired in an offseason trade with the Warriors, who have two all-stars of their own stemming from this trade). The trio put up 41 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists between the three of them, but it was their on-court chemistry that made the team better when they were on the floor. Also leading the East were 2006 All-Star MVP LeBron James and 2006 Finals MVP Dwyane Wade, with 25 and 22 points respectively.

The biggest disappointments of the night were first-timers Emeka Okafor, Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby, who all scored less than 5 points. Also, leading MVP candidate Gilbert Arenas, and fellow teammate Rashard Lewis were somewhat disappointing, with 16 and 9 points respectively.

In the end, the Western Conference came out on top in what was one of the dullest All-Star games in recent memory. Hopefully next year's All-Star game in New Orleans will be better, but only time will tell.

Warriors Send Dalembert Back To Philly, Acquire Miller, Among Others

Oakland, CA; February 20, 2007 - Yes, the Warriors made another Blockbuster trade before the trade deadline, but despite rumors, Rashard Lewis is staying put. Instead, underachieving Center Samuel Dalembert, who was acquired from the Sixers earlier in the season (averaging 5.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG) is returning to Philadelphia. Also going to the Sixers is under-utilized swingman Stephen Jackson and sharpshooting veteran (acquired in December from San Antonio) Michael Finley.

In return, the Warriors receive veteran big man and $8 million expiring contract Joe Smith, sharpshooting swingman Kyle Korver, and point guard Andre Miller. This trade finally gives the Warriors a pass-first Point Guard, major salary relief after this season and gets rid of disgruntled players Finley and Jackson. Meanwhile, the Sixers get their Center back, as well as some help for star SF Andre Iguodala in Jackson.

Warriors Get:

76ers Get:

Miller will likely start for the Warriors, at least until Monta Ellis's projected early April return, with Korver and Smith coming off the bench. Chris Wilcox, who has put up averages of 7.6 PPG and 4.5 RPG in 19 MPG will likely take up the starting spot. Meanwhile, Dalembert and Jackson should start at the Center and SG spot respectively, with Finley being their sixth man. The Warriors (15-4) will face the Atlanta Hawks (5-11) on Thursday, February 23.

Every once in a while, I read a dynasty that's good enough to make me want to make one again. There's nothing OHMYGOD THAT BLOWS MY MIND about this, but it is well put-together and satisfying.

I'm gonna go back and read from the beginning, I just jumped in with these last few posts. (Y)

Haha realistic trade talent wise, but Philly reacquiring Dalembert? Anyways, alwyas liked Korver, should fit in well with the Warriors. Oh any you had Ellis playing point with Arenas at the 2 then I guess right? Anyways good luck, and are you going to trade Lewis too?

Donatello, Thanks for the praise. I'm flattered. Hope you start one of your own, and continue to follow. (Y) (Y)

Chaser7, Philly liked having Dalembert, but my offer of Foyle (lol), Pietrus and a first-rounded was too good for them to pass up. Dalembert sucked here, and now they get their Center back.

I actually had Arenas at the Point, but switched them around a bit. Remember, Arenas is averaging 10 APG. (which will likely decline a bit with Miller) As for Lewis, he is staying put. A bit of a fake-out storyline I know, but I decided to keep him.

He is a combo guard, so he'll just come off the bench about 30 minutes a game.

Killer Warriors Backcourt Dooms Hawks

February 23, 2007 | Hawks (5-11) @ Warriors (15-4)

Oakland, CA - The sold-out Oakland crowd was nervous going into the team's first game since a Blockbuster trade with the 76ers. Though they Warriors didn't destroy the Hawks as expected, it looks like the Warriors will be alright.

After an even first quarter, superstar Gilbert Arenas caught fire, scoring 15 on defender Joe Johnson in the second quarter, leading his Warriors to a 10 point halftime lead. The dominance continued in the second quarter, with new addition Andre Miller also scoring at will, but a pair of threes got the Hawks back in the game, and by the end of the third, within six points.

In the fourth period, Rashard Lewis warmed up and helped hold off the Atlanta Hawks. While Miller was successful with 18 Points, 7 Assists and 5 Rebounds (though he shot poorly), Joe Smith only had 4 Points and 3 Rebounds, while Korver was ice cold all game and didn't score at all. "They didn't have great games, but they are still adjusting. They are great guys, and I'm confident that they will adjust," said Warriors coach Don Nelson.

Time will tell if the Warriors will maintain their success. Right now they hold the top record in the league, and are just 3 wins away from clinching their first playoff berth in eleven years. One thing is for certain: its time to get excited about the Warriors again.

Top 3 Warriors

Top 3 Hawks

Josh Smith: 13 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 3 Steals, 6-9 FG, 1-2 FT
Shelden Williams: 16 Points, 5 Rebounds, 6-10 FG, 4-5 FT

Ice-Cold Player Of The Night: Kyle Korver (GSW): 0 Points, 1 Assist, 2 Turnovers, 0-5 FG, 0-2 3PT

Nice win, I love how your scores are pretty realistic, something I've tried really hard to control in mine. good win over the hawks, hopefully Korver finds his range next time. I wouldn't expect too much of Smith as he playing a reserve role. Keep up the solid work.

P.s. where are the standings??

Yeah, thats what I like about 2K7. I think I've found the right sliders and quarter length. Only took a year and a half. Smith I think will go rather well actually, as my big are pretty fatigue and foul-prone. He will be really valuable come playoff time. As for Korver... its just one game, but I hope he gets out of this funk.

The standings are on the first page, second post.

Billups, Prince, Wallace Lead Blowout of Warriors

March 9, 2007 | Warriors (16-4) @ Pistons (11-8)

Image25 26 25 19 95
Image28 32 34 24 118

Detroit, MI - Obviously there would be struggles for the Warriors after losing swingman Monta Ellis to injury, and making yet another big trade, but we did not expect a 23 point drubbing, even at the hands of the Pistons.

The first quarter was relatively close throughout, with Tayshaun Prince taking control early with 10 first-quarter points. Midway through the second period, an emphatic block by Rasheed Wallace triggered an 8-0 run to give his Pistons a ten point lead. Thankfully, Rashard Lewis hit a long jumped to end the run. Detroit held on to the small lead, as were up 60-51 at the half.

In the third, Detroit started to dominate. Warriors superstar Gilbert Arenas could not find his shot, and Tayshaun Prince caught fire again. Prince, along with Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace massacred the visiting Warriors in the third, and they held a 19 point lead going into the fourth. Though DeShawn Stevenson played well in the final period, the Pistons coasted to a 118-95 victory.

Gilbert Arenas on the loss: "Well, the Pistons are a tough team, and we're still tied with LA for first. Once we get Monta back, watch out."

Top 3 Pistons

ImageRasheed Wallace (POG): 20 Points, 21 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Blocks, 2 Steals, 8-10 FG, 1-2 3PT, 3-4 FT
Tayshaun Prince: 31 Points, 5 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 11-22 FG, 2-3 3PT, 7-10 FT
Chauncey Billups: 18 Points, 14 Assists, 2 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 6-12 FG, 3-7 FG, 3-3 FT

Top 3 Warriors

Rashard Lewis: 16 Points, 6 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Steals, 7-14 FG, 2-5 3PT
Gilbert Arenas: 20 Points, 8 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 8-16 FG, 4-6 3PT
Al Harrington: 15 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Steals, 3 Assists, 6-10 FG, 3-5 3PT

ICE-Cold Player of the Night: Andre Miller (GSW): 7 Points, 8 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 3-15 FG, 1-4 FT

Notes:

-Kyle Korver finally scored his first points as a Warriors. In 10 minutes of play, he had 4 points and 2 rebounds on 2-5 shooting.
-Chris Wilcox battled the flu and put up a respectable 8 points and 7 rebounds in 29 minutes.
-DeShawn Stevenson scored in double figures for just the third time this season. In 14 minutes, he had 10 points and 5 Rebounds on 5-7 shooting. (arguably the best line on his team)
-Dajuan Wagner played for the first time in a month, but did very little, scoring 2 points in 7 minutes.
-Robert Horry was the only active Warrior not to play.

Next Game: @ Pacers 3-11-2007

Nice dynasty here mate. BTW since you are playing 2K7 what console are you using? And what do you think is great 2K8 or 2K7?. If Ellis returned, will he replaced Miller for the PG spot?(Just noticed that you have many trades, Will the team chemistry be affected?)

lisinas3, Thanks for the praise man. I'm trying to let my dynasty evolve little by little. Wagner scored 100 points in high school, not college, and yes, that is true.

Skillmatic, Great to have another follower; I'm looking forward to the first games in your dynasty also.

Chaser7, Yeah, the dynasty section is a mess right now. Lots of aborted Sixers and Pacer dynasties going on. (all of which are just poor clones of your recap style) Hopefully I'll rebound in the next game.

+deidei+, I think I've made it clear before, but I am using the 360 version. As for the 2K7/2K8 debate, both are good, with 2K8 being slightly better due to the updated roster, general evolutions and dunk contest, but the gap isn't very wide. Team chemistry is negatively affected by trades, but since my team is winning, it is still over 50%. Ellis will come off the bench once he returns, but still play about thirty minutes. I would have him play SG along side Arenas and Miller.

Next game should come soon. Keep the comments coming. (Y)

Game recap may be a while. This will be going into secondary dynasty status anyway, as I am working on an NBA Live 08 dynasty right now. (I'll probably start posting updates in a couple weeks... it won't be a copy of Chasers; though it won't have pictures... don't bitch)

Anyways, looking forward to it, you never revealed the 3 double digit scorers were your sonic dynasty... what team are you doing it for now though?

Pacers Slow Down Game, But Warriors Outlast Pacers

March 11, 2007 | Warriors (16-5) @ Pacers (4-16)

Image 21 21 25 20 87

Indianapolis, IN - Just two days removed from an embarrassing loss at the hands of the Detroit Pistons, Gilbert Arenas and the Golden State Warriors were hellbent on blowing out the abysmal 4-16 Pacers. While they were victorious, it was not nearly as easy as they had expected.

From the first quarter on, the Pacers played tight defense, and controlled the pace. Thankfully, Rashard Lewis has the hot hand, and his 7 first quarter points helped keep his team in it. In the second quarter, the Pacers simply could not hit their shots. Lewis and the Warriors took advantage of this, and held a five point lead at halftime.

The third quarter was played at a higher pace, but the Pacers managed to hold on, trading baskets along the way, and were only down by 6 going into the final period. Led by Andre Miller and Rashard Lewis, the Warriors took control in the fourth, leading by as much as 15. Danny Granger and Jermaine O'Neal led their team on a 10-2 run late in the game, but it was not enough. The Warriors hit their free throws en route to an 87-79 victory.

Top 3 Warriors:

ImageRashard Lewis (POG): 23 Points, 9 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 8-13 FG, 3-7 3PT, 4-4 FT
Andre Miller: 16 Points, 8 Assists, 2 Rebounds, 6-11 FG, 4-4 FT
Gilbert Arenas: 19 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 8-17 FG, 2-2 FT, 1-3 3PT

Top 3 Pacers:

Jermaine O'Neal: 20 Points, 9 Rebounds, 10-13 FG
Jamaal Tinsley: 11 Points, 8 Assists, 7 Rebounds, 5-13 FG, 1-4 3PT
Danny Granger: 15 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 6-13 FG, 1-3 3PT, 2-2 FT

ICE-Cold Player of the Night: Marquis Daniels (IND): 7 Points, 3-13 FG, 1-4 FT
