Some more news on the updates I am making....

SHAWN KEMP MAKES COMEBACK

Everyone has heard of the rain man. Remembered most while he was on the Sonics, Kemp consistently had years where he averaged 15-21 PPG and 8-12 RPG. With his play, Kemp was a 6 time all star.

Then in 2002-03, Kemp suddenly retried at the age of 33. He was getting overweight and too much out of shape to play basketball.

With a new workout program in place, Kemp is ready to make a comeback.

"I'm only 35, and I still have a few years left in me," says Kemp. "I would like to go to a team that gives me a chance to contribute and at the same time play on a winning team."

The Sixers have some interest in him.

"We have thought about it a little bit, and he would be really helpful to our squad, says Billy King, the Philadelphia 76ers GM. "But right now our main focus is to beat Minnesota and win the championship."

Kemp was seen playing some one on one against Cherokee Parks, a free agent like him. Here Kemp shows that he still has something left in him.

Image

(When trying to give ratings for Kemp, I just took his ratings from Live 04 and made a few stats a little higher. His overall rating for next season should be from around 55 to 65.)

Next update: Conf. Finals recap.

I do think it should be on the lower end of 55, just because he's not the same old Kemp. I would imagine maybe 52-57. I think 60 would be pushing it; look at some of the players who's ranking he's beating.

But I like the Cherokee Parks warm-up for him. Next up, some real competition! Right? Mikki Moore!!!!

I have put in some undrafted guys who have signed with teams (Macjauskas, C. Smith, Calderon) that are in the euroleague patch. Ones that I don't have I'm trying to get cyberfaces for (Josh Powell, Ronnie Price, Fabricio Oberto, Deng Gai, Shavlik Randolph, Rawle Marshall) Then I am trying to put some streetballers in as FA's and after that the Finals stuff will come. Also I have made OFFICIAL offseason transactions(not including draftees) for the teams that made them (e.g. Walker is with the Heat), But the Finals teams have remained unchanged regardless of how many moves they made. However, I will let the CPU decide whether they want to keep those players, they just won't be on their original team (going back to the Walker thing, in the game he always re-signs, but in real life he didn't)

And here is Shawn Kemp vs. Mikki Moore
Image

Moore played some D, but the Rain Man won in the end.

'Bout time I get something done. Now I will reveal the Sixers opponent in the Finals.

CONFERENCE FINALS RESULTS

WEST

(2) Minnesota
defeats (1) Memphis 4-2

Image

The Grizzlies had been playing brilliantly all playoffs, beating the Lakers and Dallas in two 7 game series. Then they ran into a wall. The T-Wolves outclassed them, and, despite chemistry problems throughout the season, will face the Sixers in the NBA Finals.

EAST

(5) Philadelphia
defeats (7) Indiana 4-1

Image

It's most likely over now for Reggie Miller. Unless he does not retire, Miller just finished a great career with 2000+ 3s, being the best player in Pacers history, and 0 NBA titles. Donnie Walsh has said that the Pacers will retire Miller's #31 on opening day (assuming he does retire)

Now to the series itself. The Pacers were outplayed by Philly, and looked bad most of the series. They got one win (Game 4) and even with Artest coming back and this being Miller's possibly last playoff series for him, the Pacers couldn't pull it out.

Next updates: NBA Awards Preview, then the Finals preview, then the games start, while I continue to put in more players while completing the above.

Finals predictions will be allowed, but there will be no "prize" for the winner until next year, where there will be a prize awarded but I'm not gonna tell u just yet.

while i continue to update the FA stuff, im going to share with u guys what i plan to do this offseason.

re-sign dalembert
re-sign korver
re-sign green
that will prolly be it there.

hav the 20th and 50th picks in the draft. remember updated rookie ranks.
at 20 would like to get gerald green
at 50 i could get andriuskevicius

ill go after steven hunter when signing FA's. that might be it.

don't know if i should trade jackson, however i would want more than what the sixers got in real life if i did trade him.

also dont know about mckie yet.

your thoughts/suggestions?

2005 NBA AWARDS WINNERS

MVP
Image
LeBron was the main man for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, averaging over 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, and 1.5 steals per game. However, James and the Cavs were swept by the Sixers in the playoffs.

Most Improved Player
Image
After coming off an injury-plagued season with Sacramento, the Kings thought he was old and that 03-04 showed he was no longer a good player. He was shipped to Philadelphia, where he averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Defensive Player of the Year
Image
For the 3rd time in 4 years, Big Ben Wallace brings home this award. He was once again dominant on defense and averaged 2.5 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.

Rookie of the year
Image
In a shocking decision, Luol Deng won the rookie of the year award. He had some good numbers (15.6 PPG) but many other players, including Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor, and Dwight Howard, deserved it more.

Sixth Man
Image
Maybe not the way he wanted to end his career, but Karl Malone wins the sixth man award for one of the weaker teams in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks. He had 10 points a game in only 20.7 MPG.

All NBA Team 1
Image
There are many familiar names on this list. Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Lebron. Big woop. The surprising player on the All NBA team is Damon Stoudamire. The Mighty Mouse had the best season of his career while playing for an awful Portland team. Maybe he just broke out because hes looking for a good team to pay him big bucks, like the Grizzlies :D .

All NBA Team 2
Image
While Yao, KG, and Starbury made it, there were new faces in All-NBA team 2 also. Taking the place of the likes of T-Mac and AI were Matt Harpring and Corey Maggette, who had good years for not good teams.

All Defensive Team 1
Image
Three of these players, Garnett, Bryant, and James, showed that there's more to being a star than offense by making it to the All-Defensive Team. Players who were not as bright on offense, Big Ben Wallace and Gary Payton, played great defense to help their teams win.

All Defensive Team 2
Image
Shaq and his teammate, Eddie Jones, were on the best team in the East and played great defense to get all those wins. Tim Duncan was also playing great D for the Spurs, while J-Kidd complemented the scoring of Vinsanity and RJ with his D and Doug Christie kept his role as a defensive specialist by doing well.

All Rookie Team 1
Image
Luol Deng makes it by winning the rookie of the year. Below were possibly better ROY candidates in Emeka Okafor, Dwight Howard, Ben Gordon, and Andre Iguodala.

All Rookie Team 2
Image
Two Hawks made it in J-Smoove and Childress, while Keith McLeod and Nenad Krstic played well in their first season for their respective teams. Also making it was Alex "cwebbiverson" Buckley, who probably would have won ROY if he hadn't gotten injured.

Coach of the Year
Image
Filling an interim role for the year, McHale led the T-Wolves, who tied for the best record in the NBA. I heard he will not coach next year and that Dwane Casey might coach them :D .

Next update: The Finals preview. I plan to finish the Finals on Wednesday, because I will be going to New York for a few days starting on Thursday. Will be back on Monday.

NBA FINALS PREVIEW

Image

This will be a tough finals matchup, with the best team in the NBA last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves, face a tough Sixers team, who are 12-2 so far in the playoffs.

RECENT HISTORY:

Season Series: 1-1

December 8, 2004 - Minneosta 87 @ Philadelphia 93
January 7. 2005 - Philadelphia 69 @ Minnesota 100

Now let's look at positional battles...

CENTERS: Sam Dalembert vs. Michael Olowokandi

You got one center who will someday become a star(hopefully) and the other who was arguably the biggest #1 draft pick bust in history. Both players shook off injuries from the past to only miss a few games each. However, Dalembert is on the rise, the Kandi Man is going to get worse, and i think that Sammy is just a better rebounder and defender. There's a good chance that he might try and double team Garnett because Olowokandi is not a threat.

Verdict: Philadelphia

FORWARDS: Chris Webber/Andre Iguodala vs. Kevin Garnett/Latrell Sprewell.

On one side, you have an All-Star in C-Webb who still has something in him but the days of 2000 are gone. He is no longer All-NBA and the likes of Duncan, Garnett are better PF's now. Garnett remains an MVP candidate and is and has been the center of this franchise. At SF the rookie, Andre Iguodala, will show how tough he is on D going up against Sprewell, who has ego problems that hurt the team. However, in the end, Garnett alone decides the winner of this battle.

Verdict: Minnesota

GUARDS: Kyle Korver/Allen Iverson vs. Fred Hoiberg/Sam Cassell

Korver has not done more than drain 3 balls all season, however he has become more of a team player now. At PG stands AI, who shot down rumors of being a ball hog with great passing skills. Fred Hoiberg is just like Korver, a great 3-point shooter (39.6%) that does not excel in much more though. Sam Cassell has been great all season but wants to be dealt to LA. Both Philly guards win over their opponents on the other end.
Verdict: Philadelphia

BENCH:

The Sixers are a very deep team. Backing up Webber and Iguodala, Rodney Rogers contributed a lot while starting 4 games when Iggy was hurt. Marc Jackson, despite trade rumors, has played well backing up Sam Dalembert. Willie Green was hurt earlier in the season but has come back during the rest of the playoffs. Sarunas Jasikevicius was signed to backup AI and Korver along with Green and started many games because they were hurt. Matt Barnes played well backing up Iguodala at times, while Aaron McKie, despite trade rumors, backed up Korver and Iggy while starting a few times, and Jannero Pargo, acquired in that Chicago trade, proved to be an important piece of this team while starting 13 games when AI was hurt.
Minnesota does not have the depth of the Sixers, but I'll mention some names that were good. Wally Sczerbiak was a leading candidate for sixth man of the year. Eddie Grffin got rid of the problems that he has had while backing up Garnett and Spree. Troy Hudson shot 42% from 3, while Trenton Hassell brings that much needed defensive energy to the T-Wolves. However, the Sixers are deeper.

Verdict: Philadelphia

INTANGIBLES:

AI and C-Webb have done great together while becoming friends off the court. Also players have stepped in their roles while the younger players have gained experience up to now. They would look like they have more intangibles than a sometimes chemistry-problem T-Wolves team. But remember, the Sixers lost many players to injuries during the year, which was not the same case for Minnesota, and a Sixer injury could come and it would cost them.

Verdict: Even

RESULT:

This series really could go either way, however, the Sixers have more grit, more depth, and more courage, and they will bring home the title for the first time since 1983.

Prediction: Sixers win 4-3

remember, harpring was more important to the jazz since boozer and kirilenko were lost for the season....if lebron didn't have that great year he possibly could have made all team 1....

and there was a reason i did not make the all rookie 1st team or win ROY. about 60 games in, I got hurt :( and was out for the season. the other guys played just about all of their games, giving them an edge.

also, i had tested the draft a few days ago, turns out some generic guys made it in. so I am offering 4 spots for 2nd round picks. all NLSC players in the draft will be considered for my 2nd round pick (#50). Use the format below for ratings and stuff.

Since these players are 2nd rounders, i want overall rating no higher than 65. I also want the OVR no lower than 54 (the projected cutoff, so you won't accidentally be deleted. if rating is for some reason lower than 54 and you went undrafted, i will make an attempt to sign you.)

Just PM me ur CF and the information above. Remember, if you would like to be a higher draft pick or have higher ratings, there's always next years draft.

Game 1 will be posted soon.
