2005 NBA AWARDS WINNERS
MVP
LeBron was the main man for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, averaging over 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, and 1.5 steals per game. However, James and the Cavs were swept by the Sixers in the playoffs.
Most Improved Player
After coming off an injury-plagued season with Sacramento, the Kings thought he was old and that 03-04 showed he was no longer a good player. He was shipped to Philadelphia, where he averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Defensive Player of the Year
For the 3rd time in 4 years, Big Ben Wallace brings home this award. He was once again dominant on defense and averaged 2.5 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.
Rookie of the year
In a shocking decision, Luol Deng won the rookie of the year award. He had some good numbers (15.6 PPG) but many other players, including Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor, and Dwight Howard, deserved it more.
Sixth Man
Maybe not the way he wanted to end his career, but Karl Malone wins the sixth man award for one of the weaker teams in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks. He had 10 points a game in only 20.7 MPG.
All NBA Team 1
There are many familiar names on this list. Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Lebron. Big woop. The surprising player on the All NBA team is Damon Stoudamire. The Mighty Mouse had the best season of his career while playing for an awful Portland team. Maybe he just broke out because hes looking for a good team to pay him big bucks, like the Grizzlies

.
All NBA Team 2
While Yao, KG, and Starbury made it, there were new faces in All-NBA team 2 also. Taking the place of the likes of T-Mac and AI were Matt Harpring and Corey Maggette, who had good years for not good teams.
All Defensive Team 1
Three of these players, Garnett, Bryant, and James, showed that there's more to being a star than offense by making it to the All-Defensive Team. Players who were not as bright on offense, Big Ben Wallace and Gary Payton, played great defense to help their teams win.
All Defensive Team 2
Shaq and his teammate, Eddie Jones, were on the best team in the East and played great defense to get all those wins. Tim Duncan was also playing great D for the Spurs, while J-Kidd complemented the scoring of Vinsanity and RJ with his D and Doug Christie kept his role as a defensive specialist by doing well.
All Rookie Team 1
Luol Deng makes it by winning the rookie of the year. Below were possibly better ROY candidates in Emeka Okafor, Dwight Howard, Ben Gordon, and Andre Iguodala.
All Rookie Team 2
Two Hawks made it in J-Smoove and Childress, while Keith McLeod and Nenad Krstic played well in their first season for their respective teams. Also making it was Alex "cwebbiverson" Buckley, who probably would have won ROY if he hadn't gotten injured.
Coach of the Year
Filling an interim role for the year, McHale led the T-Wolves, who tied for the best record in the NBA. I heard he will not coach next year and that Dwane Casey might coach them

Next update: The Finals preview. I plan to finish the Finals on Wednesday, because I will be going to New York for a few days starting on Thursday. Will be back on Monday.
