Domination Drop To 0-6 At Bulls' Hands

The NBA's newest franchise is still searching for its first ever win and it did not happen when the Domination hosted the Bulls in North Carolina. With Joakim Noah and Luol Deng leading the way in a second-half comeback, they put together a 12-2 run between themselves to end the game. Derrick Rose hardly played due to foul trouble but still managed ten points, four steals, and five assists in ten minutes. Kyle Korver left the floor after only six minutes due to what seemed to be an injury to his left wrist, but he is fine and will not miss any playing time. Luol Deng struck two major blows at the end of the game that stopped the Domination from tying the score. After DeJuan Blair grabbed four offensive boards in a row due to quote, "Desperation Three Chucking" from Jared Dudley, Deng blocked Dudley's three, Jerryd Bayless recovered the ball, and snuck a quick pass to Dudley who promptly had the ball stolen from him as he set up for a shot. Deng sprinted upcourt, missed a dunk, grabbed his own offensive board to give himself a double-double and the game ended with NC trailing by three.

Dudley would have had 5-9 shooting from behind the arc had he not tried his patented "Desperation Three Chucking" in the last 90 seconds of the fourth quarter. He made one of his seven outside shots in this time period and also missed a shot from the inside. While Dudley's three point percentage is currently around 33% due to his chucking, he remains a top 20 player in overall FG% with approximately 55%. He also places in the top 20 in points per game after his 33-point performance. Other noticeable outside shot chuckers on this roster tonight: Shannon Brown (0-4), Jerryd Bayless (1-9), Adam Morrison (2-7), and Derrick Brown (1-5). All these players were talked to in the locker room and we will hopefully see an improvement in their shot selection.

Luol Deng was unanimously named the player of the game for his 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and tremendous clutch play on offense and defense.

NCD: 30 - 53 - 84 - 109 - Jared Dudley - 33 points (12-26 FG%, 6-16 3P%, 3-4 FT%), 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 3 fouls, 5 turnovers
CHI: 24 - 56 - 84 - 112 - Luol Deng - 29 points (11-18 FG%, 2-5 3P%, 5-5 FT%), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks, 1 foul, 2 turnovers

It's pretty unfortunate. :(

The first win has to come soon. I've got some easy games ahead. Toronto and Philadelphia will hopefully be easy wins.

but then again I kind of thought that when I played the Wolves. If my team can lose to the Wolves it can lose to anybody! (Y) (N)

Shot chucking!

Luol Deng sounded like he was being a douche near the end of the first paragraph.

By that token everyone who plays good D (Wallace, Battier, Howard, Rondo) is a douche.

lol. I don't think the CPU was making Deng a douche when he went on that fastbreak though. I lol-ed like crap when he missed that dunk, but he was like the only guy on that half of the court, he sprinted so fast, so how could he not get that rebound. He tried to jam it in again, but he ran out of time.

Domination [0-6] Zee Otoo's Interview

Wed Nov 17, 2010 10:46 am

Azubuike Suspended Over Trade Talk and Skipped Practices

Kelenna Azubuike wants a trade. He's made it clear he wants playing time, but he will now have to wait no matter where he plays. The NBA has indefinitely suspended Azubuike until further notice. Azubuike has skipped three practices in a row and has been in constant rage over his lack of playing time. "The sooner I get out of this place the happier I'm gonna be. Six games and we haven't won yet. I'd be a bit happier if I got playing time, even with this team."

Domination GM Zee Otoo has been, more than casually, searching for teams who would be willing to take on this "nasty piece of work". So far the Toronto Raptors, the Charlotte Bobcats, and the New Orleans Hornets have expressed interest, but Otoo wants someone decent in return. "I'd like a legit center on our roster. Blair, Davis, Herrmann, and Wright are all natural power forwards. We have a serious size disadvantage and will get dominated by teams like LA, Orlando, and other such teams. We're looking around and hope to find someone who will be willing to contribute to the team."

When asked why he refuses to let Azubuike play, Otoo replied, "We're not a very skilled team, and we have chemistry issues. We have got to maximize our teamwork and morale and I feel that having Azubuike on the floor during games... I just don't think he would give us 100% when he's playing and we need all our players to be highly motivated otherwise we aren't winning games."

"I have no regrets in suspending Azubuike, and I have instructed him not to come to practice. I have no need for a player who isn't willing to work for his team. While that sounds really cold, it's the attitude issue that I just can't have in my team when the team is building like this. Despite the slow start, I have hopes for this team, perhaps a similar starting lineup to this one will thrive someday. I don't need distractions on my roster and anyone else who decides not to give 100% will not play until they have adjusted their attitude, or I'll adjust it for them."

Otoo Explains His Visions of the Domination's Future

R.E. Porter - 12/12/10
I sat down with Domination GM Zee Otoo for a short interview. Here it is:

PORTER: It is very nice to meet you today. I think the world really wants to know about the NBA's 31st team. What do you plan to do this season and what are your expectations for your players?

OTOO: It's nice to be here. The first thing we need to do before anything else is win a game. I mean it's all uphill from here. We have nothing to lose right now, we're last in the league - one of only two winless teams. I think we need to make a couple trades by the deadline. I don't want to trade anyone too soon. These players are still adjusting and it's gonna take some time. I do intend to trade Azubuike as he is a distraction as I've mentioned before. We're gonna do what we can this season to better prepare ourselves for future seasons. We're only focused on the future at this point. We have almost no chance at the playoffs with such a strong Eastern Conference and such a weak start, but this team can improve and with very minor roster tweaks we can be a playoff team in the next few years.

PORTER: You expect to be a playoff contender in just a couple years?

OTOO: Well, we've got a couple of steals in the expansion draft, Blair and Dudley, and a very surprisingly decent bench. This team is young, Walter Herrmann and Deshawn Stevenson are our only guys anywhere close to 30 and just about everyone on this team has some amount of potential. We've got shooters, rebounders, ball handlers, defenders, you name it, we got it, we just need to come together as a team. We have enormous turnover issues - just look at the box scores. We just haven't gelled yet and it may take some time. Point is, we've got good players, Dudley's playin' like an All-Star and I have high hopes for this team. Definitely not this year, unlikely next year, possible the next years, likely after that. This team will eventually come through.

PORTER: If given a chance, would you sign a major superstar or trade for one in the next couple years?

OTOO: Well, if next summer, Carmelo Anthony came running straight to us from the Nuggets begging us, "Please sign me! Please sign me!" I definitely wouldn't say no. But I wouldn't let him take over the team. It is my main goal to develop Jared Dudley as much as possible. Get him to be an All-Star or something. I'd Anthony and Dudley figure out who would play at the 2 and 3. I would obviously start Anthony, but it would be in the team's best interest to start Dudley as well. I'd be reluctant at this point to take on such a player. Players get frustrated with low-performing teams, particularly really good players, as we saw Chris Bosh and LeBron James do last summer.

PORTER: How far would you go with that, though? If you spend the next three or fours years developing the same players, a lot happens to the NBA in three years. You could miss out on a lot of major players who could really become amazing. You don't want to pass on players like that!

OTOO: You're right, and I know I can't automatically say I will not sign a star, because at some point, I very well could. It depends on the situation, the player... there are so many factors to think about when signing a player: Will he get irritated if the team takes a dive toward the cellar? Can the team handle his ego? I can't make a decision on the spot like that.

PORTER: You say you're very impressed with Jared Dudley and Walter Herrmann and we all are. Who else do you think will break out in the next few months and make a real name for himself?

OTOO: That's a good question. Dud's on his way to being an All-Star with 25 plus a game, Walter Herrmann's closing in on 20/10 a night. Two very effective players that I'm very lucky to say I have on my roster and in my mind, Ammo is next. He's been quiet so far this season and not many people have noticed how much he's improved since he joined the NBA. He had a decent rookie season and after his injury, never really - actually, didn't do much at all. He sat on the bench, collecting two rings and getting next to zero playing time. I was afraid that he wouldn't have much in him because of the last four years, but he's really trying to start his career in the NBA over again and we're all hoping he returns to the way he was at Gonzaga.

PORTER: Anyone else?

OTOO: I'm keeping my eye on Jerryd Bayless. He's had his good days and his bad days. He's adjusting slower than most of the other players. He's made some bad passes, and he's suddenly been forced to take more shots than he was in Portland. He's had some great stuff in practice, but he's inconsistent during games. He's got a good seven or eight assists a game and that's just what we need from our point guard. He's turning the ball over extremely frequently, but he's adjusting and he's getting there. It's gonna take some extra practice. But I'm confident he'll make a name for himself here.

PORTER: Your next game is against the Wizards. What's the outcome going to be?

OTOO: Well, Herrmann has repeated over and over again since our last game. "This is our game. This is our game. We are going to beat the Wizards." That's the kind of mentality I want to see on this team. I'm surprised how hopeful they are considering the 0-6 start, but I'm impressed all the same.

PORTER: Well, we're out of time right now, one more quick question. The NBA has permanently shortened the season to 30 games, 3-5-5-5 playoffs. What's the Domination record this year and next year?

OTOO: If we're lucky, we'll go 8-22 this season, and 13-17 next season. And we'll upset the Heat once. [laughs] I wouldn't hold my breath quite so fast, but look for us in the playoffs in the next few years. We might be there.

PORTER: Thank you very much for your time.

OTOO: Thank you. Anytime.

Domination [1-6] First Win! + Zee Otoo's Interview

Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:20 am

Wizards Fall To 1-10 In Domination's First Win In Franchise History

In a tremendous fourth quarter display, the Domination took the Wizards by storm. North Carolina outscored Washington 26-5 in the final period, marking the first win in franchise history. Forwards Dudley and Herrmann both put up 8-15 from the field but put on dismal shooting from outside. Great rebounding from Blair and Herrmann sealed the victory as Blair once again grabbed several offensive boards. Shannon Brown was the main spark that ignited a 14-0 run from the 5:04 mark to the 2:23 mark in the fourth quarter. He scored the first nine points of that run on three perfect shots from the corner and assisted the next basket - a dunk by Brandan Wright. Jerryd Bayless was able to truthfully take credit for shutting down John Wall from scoring. Bayless played such tight defense that he blocked two shots, stripped the ball right out of the rookie star's hands, and held Wall to 2-8 shooting.

With Wall's limited point production, Gilbert Arenas made to step up his game. He had four steals in the opening quarter to go along with 11 points. Javale McGee and Yi Jianlian were looking sharp on defense, Yi had eight steals and McGee had two blocks and two steals. Al Thornton had a huge spark in the third quarter in which he made a 10-0 run completely of his own while only missing a single shot. The glaring problem for the Wizards that likely cost them the game: rebounds. The entire team barely contested on the boards and only gathered 13 in the entire match. Compare that next to NC's 48 and you will automatically see the problem. They were rebound-less the entire third quarter and the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, giving the Domination plenty of offensive boards, 16 to be exact. The Wizards now drop to 1-10 as the Domination find their first win after six losses.

NCD: 19 - 50 - 67 - 93 - Walter Herrmann: 23 points (8-25 FG%, 2-7 3P%, 5-5 FT%), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 3 fouls, 7 turnovers (Player Of The Game)

Wow, rebounding anhilation (or in this case, domination)! Holding the Wizards to 5 points in a quarter is incredible too. (Y) Congrats on your first franchise win. :)

I tend to outrebound by a little too much. In Live 2003, if your guy is tall, or can really jump, he'll grab seven boards a game no problemo. Also in the game, cpu steals are OFF the charts! Anyway, I'm about four games behind on posting. I may have a couple stories planned.

Thanks I'm hoping I'll get a few more.

I'm about to start the game against the Heat. I'm screwed. They have Ricky Rubio! Oh yeah, and they also have three other guys called James, Wade, and Bosh who I've never heard of before!

Really? :eh: They must be a bunch of scrubs. Easy win. (Y)

That game is still a couple weeks away, I have four, maybe five games to recap until I get to the Heat game. Might do a multi-game recap.

Finally a win man! (Y) Forgot this is Live 2003, my favourite Live game ever.

Re: Domination [1-6] First Win! + Zee Otoo's Interview

Thanks man. I love Live 2003, I sold my Live 2004 and 07 a long time ago, 2003's way too good, I'd never play those again. Still play 2000 every once in a while on my N64 though.

EDIT:
I have to do this next game by itself. Not part of a recap as I already typed up the recap. It's way to long to be a short recap. Besides, Ammo's performance deserves an entire thread. jk

NC Domination [1-7] Jose Calderon Leads TOR to 126-116 Win

Sat Nov 20, 2010 7:52 am

Calderon and Derozan Completely Unstoppable As Toronto Defeats North Carolina

When Jose Calderon completes six alleyoops to Demar Derozan and three more to Andrea Bargnani, you know your point guard has skills. Jose Calderon had 19 points on perfect shooting and 18 assists in the half of the game he played (15/28 minutes). Jarrett Jack played the other half of the game, racking up 12 points and 10 assists in about 13.5 minutes of action. Bargnani could not help but jump, as he rose up for three alleyoop receptions, two outside shots, six rebounds, and seven blocks. Demar Derozan and Leandro Barbosa formed a formidable duo on fastbreaks and totaled 60 points in the game between them. Add Bargnani's 16 and Calderon's 19 and you have a crazy quartet racking up 95 points.

As a team, Toronto kept a consistent lead throughout the second, third, and fourth quarters. In fact they led by exactly ten at the end of each of the last three quarters. They never even let the Domination within five points of the lead in the second half and the only lead the Domination ever held was their 8-0 run at the start of the game. After the Domination's quick start, Toronto took control with three steals turned into fast break dunks, several rebounds, all resulting in a 20-3 run in about 3:30. They also put Jerryd Bayless into foul trouble in the first and Walter Herrmann early in the second.

Jared Dudley was fined $25,000 by the NBA for yelling profanity and kicking and breaking a foldable chair in a fit of frustration in the middle of the third quarter. He had been subbed out after picking up his third foul and going 1-10 from the outside, and he had only scored 17 points in the game on 8-19 shooting. Dudley stayed out the remaining 3:45 of the third quarter and played the entire fourth quarter. Dudley, however, wasn't without help. Adam Morrison heated up from outside and sank four outside shots in two minutes to rally from an eighteen point deficit to a six point deficit. Glen Davis hit a pair of long jumpers and Herrmann grabbed four boards and ten points in this time. Toronto had cranked up the heat as well, so the lead wasn't any closer away.

The third quarter ended with the Raptors up by ten. They maintained that lead once again in the fourth. Jared Dudley scored 14 of his team's 21 points in the quarter. Adam Morrison put up a desperation three from the OPPOSING three point line and swished it as time expired to limit the Raptors victory to ten points. This three easily made number one on NBA.com's highlight reel as really saved the face of the team.

TOR: 34 - 62 - 105 - 126 - Jose Calderon: 19 points (8-8 FG%, 1-1 3P%, 2-2 FT%), 18 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 0 blocks, 4 fouls, 6 turnovers
NCD: 32 - 52 - 95 - 116 - Jared Dudley: 31 points (13-30 FG%, 4-16 3P%, 1-1 FT%), 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks, 3 fouls, 7 turnovers

Wow, the 'Stache and his near-to-full court shot must've been epic. (Y) Sucks about the loss though, the Raptors continue to be a team with a bunch of offensive power.

Domination [1-9] Two Games, Two Losses vs. ATL and PHI

Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:13 pm

7-2 Hawks Down 1-7 Domination

The Domination worked so hard in the last four minutes of the game, but fell short by two points as the Hawks won 84-82. With Jamal Crawford inexplicably starting at point guard for the game instead of Mike Bibby, Jamal Crawford and Joe Johnson combined 12 assists amd 43 points. A sudden surge by Marvin Williams and Josh Smith in the early fourth quarter took the Hawks to an 11-point lead in with 3:00 left, after which the Domination had to fight to have a chance. Jared Dudley, who had found his range all game long, finished with 7-10 shooting from outside and 25 points, while Walter Herrmann, who had three quick baskets in the last 30 seconds, finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds. He had a decent all-around game, also recording 4 blocks and 5 assists. The Domination now have a 10-day break and will use that time to help Derrick Brown recover from a minor wrist injury that occured as he blocked Josh Smith's layup early in the second quarter. He left with only a block and two assists. The Domination's next game occurs two days after Christmas, when they host the 76ers.

NCD: 15 - 38 - 58 - 82 - Jared Dudley: 25 points (9-14 FG%, 7-10 3P%, 0-0 FT%), 2 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 1 foul, 2 turnovers.
ATL: 17 - 43 - 63 - 84 - Joe Johnson: 26 points (10-16 FG%, 2-4 3P%, 4-4 FT%), 3 assists, 0 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 2 fouls, 2 turnovers. (Player of the Game)

-Atlanta's roster was undoubtedly more talented than NC's at all five positions.
-Jared Dudley shot 70% from 3-point range.
-DeJuan Blair nearly landed on top of Josh Powell after this big dunk.
-Walter Herrmann shot the final shot, a three that brought NC within two of Atlanta.

Domination Far From Dominant In Overtime Loss To 76ers

Fans were harshly let down as the 76ers beat the Domination in overtime after a 17 point comeback by the Domination in the third and fourth quarters. Andreas Nocioni was unstoppable, going on several fastbreak layups and dunks. He led all scorers with 24 points, while AI#2 had 17. Jrue Holiday dished 13 assists (his season-high) while scoring 11. Elton Brand had fun in the paint in overtime, scoring six of his eleven points then and there.

Jared Dudley played a strong game in the air, going up for big dunks and six blocks. You saw it right. Six blocks. He had four blocks in a single play. In the early second quarter, Larry Hughes went up for a layup and was rejected by Dudley. The ball went back into Hughes's hands and attempted the shot again, only to be rejected again. Dudley then went on to reject a three from Thaddeus Young and a layup by Elton Brand before Andreas Nocioni sank a baseline J. Herrmann put a respectable 22/8 and Adam Morrison scored eight points and four rebounds. The Domination play tomorrow night in OKC as Jared Dudley matches up with Kevin Durant.

PHI: 18 - 42 - 65 - 74 - - 89 - Andreas Nocioni: 24 points (11-15 FG%, 1-2 3P%, 1-2 FT%), 0 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 2 steals, 3 turnovers, 1 foul. (Player of the Game)
NCD: 25 - 37 - 53 - 74 - - 82 - Jared Dudley: 20 points (8-12 FG%, 3-6 3P%, 1-1 FT%), 5 assists, 6 rebounds, 6 blocks, 1 steal, 8 turnovers, 4 fouls.

-Iggy's huge throwdown on DeJuan Blair and Adam Morrison made the highlight reels.
-Kyle Lowry broke free from his 0-4 shooting from outside at the right time, he scored a three with less than a couple seconds left in regulation.

How dare Iguodala dunk on the greatness that is Ammo's 'Stache!

Two tough losses there though, but Jared Dudley had the defense against the 76ers. (Y) Too bad he didn't block AI. AI will regret dunking on the 'Stache in the long run, mark my words.

It's Time For A Trade Or Two

[...phone rings...]

IND: Dave Morway, Indiana Pacers. How can I help you?
NCD: Hi, I'm Zee Otoo, the GM of the NC Domination. I wanted to talk about a possible trade about either Brandon Rush, Roy Hibbert, or Anthony Randolph.
IND: Nope. Nope. NOT happening. Not a chance. I'm sorry, man, but it's not happening.
NCD: No? Not at all?
IND: Not with the guys you have on the trading block, not a chance. I'd take Kyle Lowry for Rush, Blair for Hibbert, or Herrmann for Randolph, but I don't see that working for you. I'm sorry man, but I don't want to make any moves right now, I'm set.
NCD: Yeah, I see what you mean. I understand. But I'm really trying to offload Kelenna Azubuike, and now Deshawn Stevenson's just demanded a trade and I need to trade him too.
IND: I don't want them for the same reasons you're trying to offload them. My team's trying to find its rhythm also, and we can't really afford distractions. I'm sorry, man, I like those guys and how they play, but as you said, I can't take on a distraction right now. I'll think about it, but I highly doubt I'm going to accept on this. Sorry, but the answer's likely gonna be no. To anyone.
NCD: OK, thanks anyway.
IND: No problem.

[...Zee Otoo curses as soon he puts the phone down and starts to call up Dallas, but hangs up. He calls up Portland first. Just in case.]

POR: Hello, Rich Cho, GM of the Blazers. What's up?
NCD: You've shown some interest over the past few days about Deshawn Stevenson. Well, here's an idea. You've just put Nic Batum on the block, right?
POR: That, I have. But I'm not just swapping him. True, Batum's had a down season so far, he needs a change of scenery and I feel he played better in the preseason with Jerryd Bayless. Deshawn Stevenson, on the other hand, I don't know so much just yet about him, so I don't want to give him up for Stevenson yet. Batum's my backup now I've traded for Ariza... I want Afflalo too.
NCD: You want Arron as well as Stevenson? I mean, he's not really on the trading block... it depends on whether or not I like the other guy you give me.
POR: You don't think Afflalo and Stevenson for Batum is good enough for you?
NCD: Of course I don't, nothing's enough right now. My team's 1-11 right now. We're in the cellar right now. You've got Malik Hairston on your roster. He's played a grand total of four minutes over the course of three games all season. You haven't played him at all during the season.
POR: Well, of course I haven't. I've got better guys on my roster. I've just made Hairston a reserve.
NCD: Then, you have got nothing to lose. What do you say? Deshawn Stevenson and Arron Afflalo for Malik Hairston and Nic Batum?
POR: I think that's gonna work.
NCD: Yes! Thanks, Rich.
POR: Good luck, man. See ya.
NCD: Bye.

[...Zee Otoo punches the air in victory as he dials the number for Geoff Petrie, Sacramento's GM.]

SAC: Hey, it's Geoff! What up Zee? How's it hangin'?
NCD: I've been better, being a GM's pretty hard... anyway, I've just gotten off the phone with Rich Cho of the Portland Blazers, just dealt him Deshawn Stevenson and Arron Afflalo for Batum and Hairston, and I've heard you'd like Azubuike?
SAC: Yeah, but I ain't tradin' Tyreke Evans. (laughs)
NCD: 'Course you wouldn't. What do you say about Hassan Whiteside? You've got a couple too many centers, and you've put him on the block. What do you say?
SAC: I say, Deal. No questions asked. I've gone over this over and over in my head and I think a straight Kelenna-Hassan swap is exactly what I want and apparently what you want too. It works out perfectly.
NCD: I'm glad we see it the same way.
SAC: That, we do.
NCD: Deal?
SAC: Deal.
NCD: All right, thanks very much. I hope Azubuike works out well for you and Whiteside... I mean, we really need a legit big man in our rotation. Thank you very much.
SAC: No, no, thank you. Take care of yourself now. Good luck.
NCD: You too. Thanks!

[...Zee Otoo hangs up and yells out in pleasure. He calls it a day, drives home, and goes to sleep, wondering how much better his new team could be.]
