Jennings outplayed both Rose and Chalmers to lead the Rooks to victory.
ROOK | 13 | 41 | 20 | 32 | 16 | 122
SOPH | 21 | 32 | 25 | 28 | 7 | 113
Jennings, Thabeet lead Rookies over Sophomores.
Brandon Jennings and Hasheem Thabeet both had monster double-doubles for the Rookies and led the first year players over the Sophomores for the first time since 2002.
Jennings finished with 38 points and 12 assists as he led the Rookies when needed most. Jennings scoring and passing generated 32 of the 41 second-quarter points. He also provided the finished touches as he led the fourth-quarter surge and hit the game-tying three with 2.1 seconds to go. Jennings was 5-9 from deep in the game.
Hasheem Thabeet was a monster on the glass, as he pulled down 10 offensive rebounds. He had 3 after free throw misses by Griffin and Jennings, who went 5-20 for the game from the stripe. He made 13 field goals and 9 of them were dunks.
James Harden scored 19 points and Blake Griffin almost added a double-double with 12 and 9 rebounds.
Mario Chalmers got the start over Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook and didn't disappoint. He finished with 25 and 10 before fouling out. Eric Gordon also had a double-double with 29 and 11 assists.
Former Buck Joe Alexander got the start and was spectacular. He shot 10-21 with many spectacular dunks and finished with 24 points.
As the quarter-by-quarter stats show, Jennings was in during the 2nd and 4th period. He scored from anywhere, leaving Mario Chalmers and Derrick Rose on the floor after wicked crossovers. He also had a few poster dunks on Brook Lopez. He was 5-12 for the game from the stripe. That looks bad, but he started 1-7. He made 4-5 during the overtime period.
With the score tied at 103, Mario Chalmers dribbled the ball and fired a shot over Jennings. Nothing but net. Jennings wasn't gonna let things end like that.
After a time-out, Jennings dribbled, passed the ball to Harden who couldn't get a shot off. With just 5 seconds to go, Jennings ran to the corner, where Harden passed him the ball. He pump-faked, Chalmers rose his hand high into Jennings' face. Jennings didn't hesitate and shot over Chalmers and made the three.
During the OT period, Jennings scored 8 points and dished 2 assists and set the final score with free throws.
Jennings took MVP-honors and held the trophy high.

MikeMan™,
XpLosibo,
megarover, thanks.
Valor, Rose only played like 5 minutes. Chalmers played most of the time. Beasley's doing fine, surprised he wasn't in the game also.
Sit, I guess we'll never know.

You didn't answer my question Martti.
Did you purposely overused Brandon Jennings for him to be able to win the Rookie Challenge MVP?
Sat Sep 19, 2009 6:13 am
MikeMan™, I did control the rookies. After the first quarter, I needed a boost. Jennings was great. I do admit I wanted him to win the trophy.
Upcoming All-Star Game, Dunk Contest and 3PT shootout are completely simulated.

Yao took the MVP honors with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
WEST | 37 | 32 | 27 | 30 | 126
EAST | 36 | 29 | 24 | 32 | 121
West use team-work to defeat East.
Lebron James came off the bench for the East and led everyone in scoring with 28 points with 10 of them coming in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as 7 players scored in double-figures for the Western side, leading them to a 126-121 victory.
Lebron scored 28 points on 10-12 shooting and it was obvious, he wasn't happy about not starting. Hedo Turkolgu scored 11 points on 4-5 shooting and was left on the bench for the closing moments, as Lebron tried to lead the East all the way back.
The East were down by 10 points with a minute to go, but Lebron James scored 5 points in 20 seconds and Jermaine O'Neal scored on a but-back dunk with 30 seconds to go to decrease the deficit to just 3.
East's stifling defense showed up again on the West's final possession and Lebron brought the ball up the court. He tried to tie the game with a three, but passed it too Joe Johnson who was wide-open in the corner.
Johnson missed and Chris Paul set the final score on free throws.
Yao Ming took the MVP honors ahead of Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony and team-mate Tracy McGrady. Yao became the first player outside the US to win the MVP award.

Jermaine O'Neal : 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 7-12 FG
Mike Bibby : 12 points, 6 assists
Hedo Turkoglu : 9 points, 4-5 FG, 1-1 3PT

Fisher and Morrison will add shooting abilities and depth.
Bucks acquire Fisher, Morrison in 6-player deal.
The Bucks announced that they have agreed on a deal with the Lakers to send Derek Fisher to the Bucks for Luke Ridnour. Both teams added 2 players to make the deal work financially.
This deal was initiated by the Lakers and the initial deal was Derek Fisher for Luke Ridnour. Both teams added players to deal to finalize it.
Fisher has been the starting point guard for the Lakers, who are leading the league. Fisher (36) has hinted retirement and the Lakers and they agreed that trading Fisher was best for the team and for Fisher himself.
Ridnour (29) has been left to the bench as the Bucks have found their point guard of the future in Brandon Jennings. Ridnour was thrilled about the deal.
"Going from a role player from a below .500 team to starter for the league leading team is a great opportunity. Playing in L.A with Kobe (Bryant), Ron (Artest), Pau (Gasol), Lamar (Odom) and Andrew (Bynum) is a dream. I think we can go all the way this year.
I have no disrespect towards the Bucks, but if we meet next year, It'll be personal."
The Bucks also received Adam Morrison and D.J Mbenga in the deal.
Morrison, the former #3 pick in 2006, averaged over 11 points during his rookie season and made the All-Rookie 2nd Team. But then, after a knee injury, Morrison missed the whole 07-08 season. However, he will bring career averages of 8.7 points and the "Stache" to the Bucks.
Didier Ilunga-Mbenga has split his NBA career between Dallas, Golden State and Los Angeles.
Last season was his best statistically, as he averaged 2,7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. He has yet to crack into the active roster of the Lakers. With Andrew Bogut, Dan Gadzuric, Kurt Thomas at the center, Mbenga will probably stay in the inactive roster.
Final Deal :
Milwaukee gets :
- Derek Fisher (75)
- Adam Morrison (70)
- DJ Mbenga (55)
Los Angeles gets :
- Luke Ridnour (73)
- Carlos Delfino (71)
- Fransisco Elson (70)

lol, everybody gets Adam Morrison

and what a coincidence...i had just signed Mbenga in my association
but i don't like this for the Lakers, Luke Ridnour sucks and wont fit into the Lakers offense, Fisher >>>>>>>>>Ridnour
and now my man Fish is gonna get lesser minutes
well anyways, it was a great trade for you, go for it in the second half of the season
Fri Sep 25, 2009 12:49 am
good for u

, bad for the lakers

bah! screw 'Stache; he's garbage
good to see Yao take MVP over LBJ; i guess i'll feel he's deserves the title "King" once he finally actually wins a ring (which aint happenin' this year)
sorry but not feeling the trade either
