Bryant's got some pretty heavy competition for MVP, but I think that he won't get it simply because Kobe doesn't have to go ballistic on offence since you've got Artest to lean on for offence.

I find it ironic that the Kings are battling for that second spot in the Pacific. It should make for a good rivalry throughout the season.

weird... my previous 'submit' post just disappeared lol ah well

anyway, not much to say about PJB other than he does provide some breathing room in case of front court injuries so that's good

and man - GState dead last in the div!?! Hope they can at least overtake Sac and LAC by reg season's end

Woah, you advanced quickly in this dynasty. I'd be interested to see what the current playoff races are like in both conferences, as well as some league leaders, if you're so inclined.

Judging from the looks of your stats you have a pretty thin bench. My suggestion would be to get a swingman off the bench that can give you around 8-10 points a night while Kobe and Artest alternate to get a breather... That way you won't struggle to mightily if both of them somehow get in foul trouble or get fatigued.

this isnt that realistic... first off the grizzles wouldn't trade someone back nor would they trade lamar odom for mike miller essentially even if they hadn't been traded for each other in the first place... plus why did you trade miller for odom? that didn't seem very smart in the first place...

LAKERS PUSH PAST NUGGETS FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN

Box Score
Lakers: 104
Nuggets: 94

Image
Kobe Bryant knocks down a three at the buzzer

The Lakers entered the game with a record of 44 wins and 33 losses. The Nuggets entered with a record of 42-34. It was an intense matchup since there were only a few games left of the season. Both teams had to win in order to secure their spots in the Playoffs.

The game was close all throughout the game with the score 77-75 Lakers' lead at the start of the 4th quarter. The clock was running down as Fisher was looking to pass. He finds Kobe as he knocks down the three at the buzzer. Now it was Denver's possession. However, they get it quickly stolen by Fisher. He had 13 points and 3 steals in the game. Nuggets try again as Carmelo Anthony drives it inside for a layup, but gets rejected by Ron Artest. Artest gets quickly fouled by Nene and shoots two. Nene sits down with five fouls and is replaced by Reggie Evans.

"Man thats bulls*** I didn't even touch him", yells Nene as he sits down on the bench.

The Lakers were on a run, as they made shot after shot and played strong defense as the Nuggets failed to connect any of their shots. The run was finally stopped when Carmelo Anthony started to demand the ball more, leading to back to back shots, including a three pointer. The score was now 94-91 Laker's lead still with 2:51 left on the clock. But there was no stopping the Lakers. The Lakers continued to fight back as Haslem posted up against Kenyon Martin causing J.R. Smith to help on the defense, leading Kobe wide open for a three. The Nuggets call a time-out.

"What's going on out there? You guys aren't even defending.. there's no reason to leave Kobe open every single time!", yells Coach George Karl.

"Good job guys on the defense. Mihm, Brown, Williamson, Vujacic, and Farmar, go in and finish this game strong", says Coach Phil Jackson as he replaced his starting lineup with the bench.

Mihm inbounds the ball, but gets it intercepted by Iverson. He passes to J.R. Smith for a three, but rims off, ending all hopes for the Nuggets as the Lakers seal the game. Kobe was brilliant yet again as he scored 46 points, including six three pointers. Artest added four steals and two blocks as he contained Carmelo Anthony with his impressive defense.

LAKERS TOO MUCH FOR THE KINGS

Box Score
Lakers: 103
Kings: 95

Ron Artest denies Mike Bibby from behind as he goes for a layup

It was the last game of the season and both teams needed to win. The game seemed shaky for the Lakers when Udonis Haslem fouled out with 4:26 left on the clock. He was replaced by P.J. Brown. Kevin Martin drives the ball inside, gets fouled, and makes the shot. He makes the game 92-91 Lakers' lead with 2:49 on the clock. P.J. Brown posts up against Abdur Rahim, but gets it stolen. He passes to Mike Bibby as he drains the shot. It is now 92-93 King's lead. Lakers call a timeout.

"Mike Bibby is dominating this game, we need to stop him", says Derek Fisher. "Just pass me the ball if you can't find anyone", says Kobe with confidence, who ended with 39 points in the game.

Fisher dribbles the ball up the court finding Ron Artest for a three. The Lakers regain the lead by two points with 2:11 on the clock. The Lakers continued to shine and were dominant on both ends of the court. They were too much for the Kings in the final minutes of the quarter as Kobe intercepts an inbound pass by former teammate Luke Walton and goes for an easy layup. Sacramento calls a timeout with 38.8 seconds on the clock.

"I want Kevin Martin or Mike Bibby to get open for a three, then foul quickly when the Lakers have the ball", says the King's coach.

However, Mike Bibby failed to connect the three and the Lakers win the game. Andrew Bynum was active on the boards as he had an impressive 17 rebounds; five of them being offensive. Kobe had another great game with 39 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Mike Bibby led the Kings with 26 points, 10 assists, and 4 steals. Luke Walton also had a good game with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Can expect playoff recaps soon? I'd like to see how far Kobe/Artest can carry this team into the post-season. Also, a year in review type recap would be pretty sweet.

Maybe just some year end-stats and a review of Lakers performance would be cool.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS NEWS

The Lakers have done it! They made it to the playoffs again. The Lakers made a lot of adjustments during the season, mainly to placate Kobe Bryant's demands. They acquired Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings and Udonis Haslem from the Miami Heat. Both players seemed to click well with Kobe and Fisher. The Lakers starting five is solid with Andrew Bynum and Udonis Haslem in the frontcourt, and Kobe, Artest, and Fisher in the backcourt. The Lakers ended the season with a record of 48-34 and stood in second place behind the Phoenix Suns in the Pacific Division. The Lakers face a difficult opponent in the first round of the Playoffs. They face the defending champs, the San Anthonio Spurs. They will have to watch out for the triple threat - Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker.

Round 1

Jazz - 98
Nuggets - 96

It was a very close game between these two teams, but the Jazz barely beat the Nuggets by two points. Deron Williams led the Jazz with 30 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Carlos Boozer had 24 pts and 10 rebs. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 30 pts, 5 boards, and 7 assists. Allen Iverson had 23 pts, 10 assists, and 3 stls. The Jazz lead the series 1-0.

Suns - 95
Mavericks - 120

The Mavericks dominated the Suns in the 1st round. Both teams were strong in the season and this will be an exciting face off between the two teams. Shawn Marion led the Suns with 27 pts, 9 reb, 4 ass, 3 stls, and 3 blks. He shot 12-19 from the field and 2-7 from three-point range. Raja Bell added 19. Steve Nash had 16 including 5 reb, and 6 ass. Dirk Nowitzki, the last year MVP, carried his team with an amazing 52 points (23-33 from the field, 4-8 from beyond the arc). He also had 6 assists and 4 blocks. The Mavericks lead the series 1-0.

SPURS TOO MUCH FOR THE LAKERS IN GAME 1

Box Score
Lakers: 106
Spurs: 115

Image
Duncan had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks

Chris Mihm got injured going for a block in the 2nd quarter with 4:33 on the clock. However, the injury was minor and he was able to come back to the court in the second half. On the other hand, Tony Parker got into early foul trouble with three fouls in the 2nd quarter. He sat the remaining of the 2nd quarter and all of third. Brent Barry took his spot. It was Laker's ball with 20 seconds remaining of the first half. Kobe knocks down the three ball right at the buzzer making the score 57-55 Lakers lead at the half. Kobe had 19 points in the first half. Parker had 15, and both Ginobli and Duncan had 12. The Spurs dominated the Lakers in the 3rd quarter making the score 79-91 Spurs lead to start the fourth.

"All of my shots were going in.. I was on fire," says Brent Barry at the end of the third quarter as he had 18 points while Tony Parker was on the bench with three fouls.

The Spurs were too much for the Lakers in the fourth quarter as well. They made defensive stops and made shot after shot. Elson was dominant on the boards with 14 rebounds. Ginobili was on target both offensive and defensive with 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Tony Parker added 26 points and 7 assists. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 39 pts, 6 rebs, 4 assists, and 4 stls. Ron Artest had 22 pts, 4 rebs, 6 assists, and 4 stls. Udonis Haslem had 16 pts and 8 rebs. The Spurs lead the series 1-0.
