Butler outduels Stackhouse
Caron Butler barely made it to the final round, but proved it wasn't a fluke, defeating Jerry Stackhouse by a score of 96-95 to win the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Competition. In the first round, everyone scored 100 except for Jason Richardson, who scored a 45 on his first dunk. IN the three-man-shootout, Amare Stoudemire was eliminated, scoring a 45, while Butler and Stack scored 50's. In the final round, Stack's bounce off the shot clock only got him a 45 after Butler's 50, and, needing a 46 to close it out, Butler got just that, while Stackhouse scored a 50 to make it a 1-point difference to end it.

Mighty Mouse wins in shootout
Damon Stoudamire, in a shootout with Steve Nash, brought home the Foot Locker 3-Point Shootout Trophy. Everyone put up respectable numbers, with Nash setting the record with 29 points in a single round, but it came down to him and Stoudamire in the end. Both players scored 18 in the final round, which led to a shootout, where both players bombed it. They both only shot 2 racks in 24 seconds, with Nash only getting 3, and Mighty Mouse bringing it home with 5.

I've been thinking, and, we may need some veteran leadership, and we need some help rebounding. I know who is the perfect fit for that, but I don't think we can get him... I may try.

For some reason, my Ps2 screwed up, and when I tried to get the boxscores for the Seattle game, I got the Toronto ones o.0 Oh well.

HOU Anthony 27 PTS (plus a Jordan-like runner from the free-throw line to seal the win)
Telfair 17 PTS, 16 AST
SEA Bibby 27 PTS
Sorry about the box score thing, my ps2 has issues.
Next game 2/27 vs. Charlotte
GM Notes:
I got my veteran, but at the cost of Joe Johnson...although he wasn't producing, he was doing pretty well. But, that's business.

The Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets have made (another) deal that sends Ben Wallace to Houston in exchange for Joe Johnson and Ron Mercer.
"Mercer was seldom used, and Johson was complaining that he was being taken out too much for Korver and could be more productive elsewhere, so we think this is a good deal. We welcome Ben to Houston with open arms, we've been need of a veteran leader". said GM Jacob Milani.

GM Notes:
This will probably be one of the hardest games this year, on the road facing the Heat...Kobe's actually passing the ball for once in his career, in the top 5 in assists along with Nash. Zo is going to be a tough cover also, but I think we can handle it as a team.

Van Gundy moving positions
In a surprise move, the Houston Rockets organization has moved Jeff Van Gundy to the Assistant GM position, to move Jacob Milani to head coach. He will keep his GM job also.
"We've liked the trades so far, and I would like to see how he can coach a team." said Rockets president Leslie Alexander. "We believe he can do a great job. Van Gundy seconded that.
"I loved coaching this team, but I believe Milani can pick up where I left off and lead us to glory," Van Gundy said. "I'm happy they kept me with the organization."
"I'm glad that Jeff can help me making some tough decisions now, with him being assistant GM," said Milani. "I usually talked to him before I offered the trades, but now with him being a part of the job, his thought really counts more.
"He did a great job, and I hope I can carry on what he was doing".

Nash downs Rockets in OT
The Rockets blew a 14-point lead in the fourth, and were downed by a Steve Nash three-pointer in overtime, that left new head coach Jacob Milani furious.
"We've did this many times this year, and we've gotten lucky a fewe times and won, but not this time," he said. "We need to stop slacking off like we've already won the game and maintain a lead." Sebastian Telfair had a great game despite the loss. The injury of Carmelo Anthony didn't help matters, either.
Travis Outlaw made a lot of key baskets, including the basket that sent the game into overtime. Steve Nash then ran down the clock in OT, then hit a three leaving 1.4 seconds left. Houston then called timeout, and got the ball into Kyle Korver, who missed a long three that sent the crowd in American Airlines Arena crazy.
