Thanks Thierry.

Thanks, he's helped out a lot already hopefully he'll continue to do so.

Sac-1 wrote:Sad to see the Kings lose but great win for you. Nice win against the Pacers, nice job containing O'neal to only 10 points and 4 rebounds. Your record is slowly getting better. Keep it up. Oh yeah, great debut from Gooden on his first game with Seattle.

Yes, the team is starting to pick up and the record is getting better. If we keep going like this, we might have a shot at getting home advantage come play-off time.

I'm a big fan of those two, I'll make sure they get plenty of minutes. :)

Getting Gooden was a good idea, he can obviously get you double double in every game. Along with Evans, you know the Sonics can really dominating the boards throughout the whole game. The Sonics are looking good so far. (Y)

Thanks, they're really starting to pick it up now and Gooden will help even more. He fills a lot of holes on this team.

McGrady's Big Double-Double not Enough for Rockets

Image92 Image103

We all knew Tracy McGrady was one of the best scorers in the league but who knew he was such an excellent rebounder? Tracy McGrady dominated the boards against the Sonics as he grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with a game-high 35 points but it was not enough to beat the Sonics.

Without an injured Yao Ming, the Rockets expected even more from Tracy McGrady and he was able to deliver. Unfotunately, it wasn't enough for Houston as they fell short to the Supersonics 103-92.

Ray Allen, once again led the Sonics in scoring with 29 points and Rashard Lewis followed with 22. Luke Ridnour notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.

Rafer Alston had a solid night with 26 points and 7 dimes. Dikembe Mutomobo proved to be a nice replacement for Yao as he netted 12 points and grabbed 9 boards, 1 shy of a double-double.

The Sonics have been playing quite well of late, getting themselves over the .500 mark and continuing to add to their wins column. The acquisition of Drew Gooden has also proved to be key and the Sonics seem to be headed in the right direction in 05-06. They face the Portland Trail Blazers next.

Ridnour's a great playmaker so he'll put up those nice assist numbers.

Sonics Crush Suns

Coming off a win against Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets, the Seattle Sonics didn't miss a beat. They crushed their Western Conference rivals, the Phoenix Suns 117-99.

The key to the Sonics' win was mostly the fact that they were able to shut down Amare Stoudemire who was held to only 10 Points in the contest. After the game Stoudemire added that he and his team were just going to put this game behind them and move on.

Steve Nash and Shawn Marion on the other hand had a solid night. Nash led the Suns in scoring with 24 Points while adding 7 Assists. Marion followed up with 19 Points and 7 Boards.

The Sonics played great basketball as a team. Their scoring was completely balanced with every player getting involved. Ray Allen once again led the team in scoring with 18 Points followed by Rashard Lewis' 15 Points to go along with 11 Boards and 5 Assists. Luke Ridnour notched a Double-Double with 13 Points and 10 Assists while Drew Gooden added 14 Points and 4 Rebounds. Reggie Evans had also had a solid game off the bench, with 14 Points and 5 Boards.

The Sonics will now return home to face Dirk Nowitzki's Dallas Mavericks in Key Arena. That will feature a key and exciting Western Conference matchup.

Wow congrats man :( You crushed my Suns! :P

Sun Jan 08, 2006 9:35 am

Nice job on shutting down Amare, he is the Suns number one scoring option so you know he will get the ball alot throughout the whole game. Go Sonics. (Y)

Sun Jan 08, 2006 10:03 am

Great win for Seattle. Very balanced scoring too. It really surprised me that you were able to hold Amare to 10 points but atleast Nash tried to make up for it with a good fight. Great game for you overall and good luck next game. (Y)

Sun Jan 08, 2006 10:25 am

Your team looked real deep against the Suns to blow them away like that and good job holding Stoudemire to just 10 points.

Yes...I only wish that I could say it was a challenge.

Yeah he seemed to be struggling and Fortson and Gooden didn't let him get any easy ones.

Yeah Nash is still carrying these teams but I'm sure Amare will be back. The balanced scoring was great as well, everybody was getting their shots to drop.

Yeah, plenty of depth on the bench and everybody chipped in. The defence of course was great as well, shutting down Amare was a huge boost.

Sonics Acquire Haywood in 6-Player Trade

Image

The Seattle Supersonics continued shopping for big men after acquiring Drew Gooden. This time they shipped Center Danny Fortson, along with Forwards Nick Collison and Damien Wilkens to Washington for Center Brendan Haywood, Forward Jared Jeffries and Guard Chucky Atkins.

Haywood brings a lot of strength to the team and is +50% shooter, battling for most of his points inside. He's also great on the defensive end, and a great shot blocker.

The Sonics also get Jared Jeffries and Chucky Atkins from the deal. Jeffries is a lengthy swingman who can bring some energy off the bench while Atkins is a veteran who will be a great backup to Luke Ridnour. Something the Sonics were looking for.

On the downside, big men Danny Fortson and Nick Collison were let go. The Sonics have plenty of depth down low and were looking for a trade just like this one to open up room for Johan Petro, Reggie Evans and Vitaly Potapenko. Damien Wilkens, the young forward was also shipped to Washington after struggling to get into the rotation.

The Sonics now go with newbies Gooden and Haywood down low while keeping All-Stars Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis on the wings along with Point Guard Luke Ridnour. They also strengthen their bench while opening up room for their big men who before the deal were getting limited minutes.

Mon Jan 09, 2006 2:37 am

You benefited more, but the trade almost doesn't change anything. :?

Mon Jan 09, 2006 3:45 am

No......That was a good trade for you. You got 2 good rebounders and shot blockers in Jeffries and Haywood, and a decent PG, and Atkins is a pretty good 3pt shooter....Good job man
