GM Skrnjug announces trades to Spurs and Kings and re-signs Tierre Brown

Hornets GM Skrnjug contacted the Spurs again for another trade, this time sending unhappy SF Rasual Butler and fat C Rafael Araujo to the Spurs for disgruntled Center Nazr Mohammed and PF Frabicio Oberto. Butler wasn't happy with his playing time with the Hornets and he wanted out. Nazr Mohammed wanted another starting gig and the Hornets were the only option. Nazr Mohammed will wear the number 2 and Oberto will wear number 5.

Hornets GM Skrnjug also contacted the Kings and traded rookies Singleton and Korolev for PG Jason Hart. Jason Hart will wear the number 1 and be the back-up PG which leaves fan favourite Beno Udrih a 3rd string PG. Udrih is fine with that, he told GM Skrnjug, he'll accept the roll and hopefully he'll hang around and help in the play-offs.

GM Skrnjug also re-signed released PG Tierre Brown. He was resigned because the Hornets need another spare on the IRL.

Thanks, Jugs.

Hornets host Maggette's old team, the Clippers

J.R. Smith, Jamal Magloire and Kirk Snyder visit their old team to verse Corey Maggette and his new team.

Starting Line-Ups

Image

Key Match-Up

Corey Maggette vs. Elton Brand

Although they play different positions, this will be a nice rivalry as they are former teammates.

1st Quarter

Chris Wilcox and Cuttino Mobley both started off well, scoring 2 early baskets each but the Hornets weren't too far behind. Both Hart and Mohammed were playing alright for their new team but Mohammed got into early foul trouble which put Andersen back on the floor. The home crowd were expecting an early poster from Maggette and he did, a nice one-handed slam over Chris Wilcox. Both teams were executing well on the offensive end, especially Cuttino Mobley, who was the only player in double-digits so far. Joey Graham was scoring well as the Hornets got to within one point of the Clippers. Some Livingston free throws gave the Clippers a 29-26 lead at the end of the quarter.

2nd Quarter

Shortly after the break, the Hornets took the lead with an 8-0 run but Mobley singlehandedly gave the Clippers the lead. The Hornets began to struggle on both ends of the floor but Chris Paul was put back on which put the Hornets within 4 points. The Hornets were playing sloppy defence as the lead was on the verge on going to double-digits. The Clippers finished the quarter ahead 57-48.

Key Players at the Half

Elton Brand and Al Harrington

3rd Quarter

The Hornets continued their poor play, the only players who actually wanted to contribute well were Joey Graham and Al Harrington, Chris Paul was the only one with an excuse as he has a minor injury. The Hornets were slowly coming back and they needed to continue their stronger defence to comeback and win. It took Mohammed 2 and a third quarters to record his first basket for his new team, he was the only Hornets starter not in double-figures. The Hornets were only 5 points behind the Clippers when they made two mistakes and the Clippers made their lead go out to 9 points. But the Hornets decided to go on a nice 8-0 run to bring the lead down to a single point. Brand hit 1 out of 2 free throws then Graham hit 2 free throws to even up the scores at 70 a piece. Both teams began to exchange baskets until Chris Paul forced J.R. Smith to make a mistake which led to a sideball and Mohammed scored the basket to give his team the lead. Brand missed 1 free throw out of 2 and both teams continued to exchange baskets as the Hornets finished the quarter ahead 82-81.

4th Quarter

The Hornets started the quarter with Mohammed going on a defensive stop run and also making a nice dunk on the offensive end to put the Hornets lead out to 7. The Clippers scored and then the Hornets went on another 6-0 run to bring the lead out to double-digits but that didn't last long as the Clippers scored 4 in a row. The Hornets continued their strong play throughout the quarter even with Mobley starting to score again after he was shutdown for a quarter and a half. The score was 110 to 102 in favour of the Hornets with 1 minute to go, this was when the Clippers started fouling. The Clippers managed to cut the deficit down to 6 points with the Hornets missing free throws and were lucky not to lose the game as the Hornets took this game 118-111.

Player of the Game

Joey Graham
Joey Graham stepped up his game and helped his team stay alive during the shittier parts of the match with 26 points all up.

Other Great Players

For the Hornets:
Corey Maggette with 30 points and 5 rebounds.

The Hornets travel to Minnesota to verse the Timberwolves

Chris Paul was at 100% health and was looking to make an impact tonight. The first quarter was an even battle with both sides not wanting to lose but the Hornets finished that quarter ahead by 2. The 2nd quarter belonged to the Power Forwards Al Harrington and Kevin Garnett as they piled on 17 points each for their respective teams but the Hornets managed to extend their lead to 5 points at the break. The 3rd quarter saw the Timberwolves come as close as 1 point of the lead but the Hornets held strong and finished the quarter ahead by 4 points. The 4th quarter saw the Timberwolves take the lead thanks to McCants and Jaric but some clutch plays from Chris Paul and Corey Maggette gave the Hornets a 97-93 victory. Player of the game was Al Harrington with 31 points and 16 rebounds. Other key players for the Hornets were Nazr Mohammed with 11 points and 14 rebounds and Corey Maggette with 14 points and 6 assists. Milwaukee host the Hornets

The Hornets are on a six game winning streak and have finally made it to .500 but will they make it past .500 tonight?
The Hornets started the game pretty well with all 5 starters scoring atleast 2 baskets each and they finished the quarter with an eight point lead. The second quarter saw the Hornets dominate a bit more by exposing the weakness of the Bucks front court. They finished the quarter ahead by 14 points. More of the same continued throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters as not 2, not 3 but 4 Hornets starters finished with 20+ points. The Hornets took this game 117-80 and get their record above .500 for the first time this season. Player of the game was Nazr Mohammed with 22 points and 9 rebounds, he also kept #1 draft pick Andrew Bogut to 2 points. Other key players for the Hornets were Joey Graham with 27 points and 14 rebounds, Al Harrington with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Chris Paul with 20 points. Key players for the Bucks were Joe Smith with 21 points and 7 rebounds, Bobby Simmons with 15 point sand 13 rebounds and Desmond Mason with 13 points off the bench.

Boxscores

New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
Milwaukee Bucks

The Hornets GM was glad that he'd put together a team that could win 7 games in a row and go above .500, but he's GM-ing isn't as good as GM Babcock's as his team has a 15-12 record, previously 15-8 but they've lost 4 in a row.

Anyways, GM Skrnjug also received this nice message from the team owner.

I simmed this 3 games cos i've already played these teams, next game is the Rockets, I've played them too but I seek revenge!, Jugs.
