Blue & White Ignite: Who will help Dwight?

Here I go with one final attempt at a dynasty before I invest in the next edition of Elite or 2k. Seeing as the Magic didnt really make much noise this offseason they seem to have been forgotten to an extent... and that is unacceptable!
This should be an interesting season as the Magic side is by no means any weaker than last season so the regular season shouldn't be too much of a worry. However with the expiring of Vince Carter and other nice trade chips avaliable it will be interesting if I can strengthen the team at some stage.

 Rosters: Kova's (With as many updated signings as I can be bothered with :P)
 Silders: MP3's with tweaks as I go.
 Quarter Length: 12min
 Sim Quarter Length: 12min
 Season Length: 29 games
 Playoff Format: 7-7-7-7
 CPU Trades: Trade Windows in the last two weeks of December then two weeks leading into the trade deadline.
 Recaps: Last Magic dynasty I did I tried to do small recaps for each game and highlight one for each week. I will only provide boxscores for simmed games and a few played ones, but will have a game recap one per week or fortnight.

Hope I don't jump the gun, but assuming you're just posting the one thread rather than having 13 placeholders like many other dynasties :P

Hopefully this one gets some legs. With what other teams have done in the East, I'm kind of hoping the Magic make it out of the East with Redick as their starting SG :P

I wonder (like everybody else) if you'll make a run for Chris Paul or try to beat Heat with current Magic roster

Trade VC and get T-Mac :D Nice to see you give it a try again.

Sit, you will be bitterly disappointed. It will be a team from Florida, I'll leave it up to Mark to choose which. (Y)

Pfft placeholders? :P

Yeap Redick will deffinately feature heavily this season, he has earnt it, one of of the true hard workers in the league I reckon.
Im still unsure what, if any, roster moves I will make. CP3 is very enticing, however im kind of attached to Jameer so it will be interesting to see what happens. At this stage I still have faith in VC to learn the system more. And I plan to run better plays for him that what Stan did.

Haha might be a bit too late for that now with T-Mac one the Pistons, although I think he is still a FA actually in my association.

Well I hope its the Lakers im playing in the finals, time to get revenge :P

I'm leaning towards the Magic :P

Yeah I would like to try your new ones. The old ones are still pretty damn good. Im getting quite realistic stats. Made a few tweaks but that is more to suit my play style.

Cheers dude, yeah I was enjoying my last one. Dunno why I stopped. You will see a few artifacts from the first one anyway as I cant be bothered making completely new resources etc.

Thanks mate, yeah Orlando deffinately has the deepest roster if anything. Guess that makes its easier to swing trades. I dont really like to play much more than 8 or 9 deep anyway.

Cheers mate, yeap im hopinh it will, going to be a bit lighter on the recaps I think so I can get through the season a bit quicker.

The Magic once again come into the season with arguably the deepest roster in the league. Stan Van Gundy will have plenty of options to choose from when crafting his rotation, and it is yet to be seen whether he will stick with his favoured "Stretch 4" Line up or if he will revert to the more tried and true two post line up. One thing is for sure, he will be encouraged by the Magic brass to try out different lineups throughout the regular season to give him a wider range of adjustments to use in the playoffs, a lack of which really hurt the team in last season Eastern Conference Finals versus the Celtics.

2010 brings a few new players to the Magic while farewelling others. Quentin Richardson brings his deadeye shooting to replace the outgoing Matt Barnes. While Q-Rich is a deffinate upgrade offensively, the Magic may miss the hardnosed defense and that "edge" that Barnes brought (see: Barnes v Kobe). Chris Duhon joins the team to take over the back PG spot, he effectively replaces the veteran Anthony Johnson, and pushes Jason Williams into the 3rd string spot. Duhon deffinately brings a decent amount of deffensive ability to the position as well some decent playmaking skills. However perhaps the best and most important move the Magic made during the offseason was to retain the services of JJ Redick. JJ has made steady improvement each season has he spent in the league, and through hard work over during his offseasons has become a solid enough defender to see big minutes in the rotation.

Depth will be both a postive and a negative for the Magic. While they should be able to easily survive a major injury to anyone but a few key players, Van Gundy will have a juggling act on his hands keeping everyone happy. With Vince Carter effecitvely having a huge expiring contract, don't be supprised to see his name come up in various trade rumours throughout the season, especially with the hard working fan favourite JJ Reddick nipping at his heals. Another area that could give Magic Management something to think about is the Power Forward postition. Rashard Lewis is a lock to start if Van Gundy stays with a stretch 4, however if Lewis is moved to the 3 (arguably his best position) its a toss up between Bass, Gortat and Anderson as to who will get the nod at the 4. Even as it currently stands, it is doubtful that Van Gundy will be able to keep all three happy with the minutes he has at his disposal.

Who Will Help Dwight?
What the rumour mill says.
ImageImageImageImage
Melo, Iggy, Granger, CP3. Could one of these be the new face of the Magic?

This offseason was perhaps the most exciting the NBA has seen, with big names such as James, Bosh, Stoudemire and Boozer all moving teams the landscape of the NBA's contenders has changed. While teams such as the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks have seen drastic improvement on last season’s rosters, the Orlando Magic have remained relatively static.

While it is widely agreed that keeping a roster intact will help to build on existing team chemistry, most believe that the Magic will need to add another significant piece to keep pace with the elites in the rapidly improving Eastern Conference. The problem facing the Magic is finding a team that is willing to help them improve their roster and whether the Magic have the assets to entice a team into trading with them.

Over the summer there have been 3 or 4 rumours that have taken legs. Firstly the rumour that had the most momentum was the Chris Paul saga. Fuelled by the players own admission of demanding a trade to a contender, many Magic fans were near convinced that a trade was going to happen, however following a meeting with Hornet brass Paul appears to have given the franchise a chance to show their devotion to winning. Any move for Paul would definitely include Vince Carter’s expiring contract, and now with the trade of Darren Collison, Jameer Nelson would also have to head to New Orleans. If Paul were to join the Magic could we be seeing the best Big Man/Little Man combo the league has seen?

Currently gathering steam and likely to become as talked about as the Chris Paul rumour is Carmelo Anthony and his contract extension. According to sources Carmelo has/will be asking for a trade with Orlando being one of the teams atop his list. There are more complications to a Carmelo trade such whether Orlando would be happy trading for a player that could walk this summer, or will he sign an extension as part of the trade agreement. Vince Carter would once again likely be the centrepiece of a trade, however Denver do not have as big a need to his expiring so young talent such as Ryan Anderson and picks would likely need to be included.

Rumours regarding Danny Granger and Andre Iguodala are at this stage more based on speculation. While Indiana appear to be in no way entertaining the notion of moving Granger, come trade deadline Orlando could perhaps be able to entice Indiana with a package of expiring contract(s) and young talent and picks. Indiana’s first round pick of Paul George also means they would not be without a wing scorer if Granger were to leave.
In selecting Evan Turner with the 2nd pick in the 2010 Draft, Philadelphia now have a surplus of talented swing men. Andre Iguodala is the highest earner of these and if the 76ers decide that they are confident Evan Turner can step into his role then they could be open to moving AI2 if the right deal comes along. Once again Vince Carter would have to be centrepiece of such a deal but it is likely the 76ers would demand that Elton Brand’s contract leaves as well so they can fully commit to their youth movement.

Should Orlando manage to swing a move for one of these players it would likely push them to top of the East and make them near favourites for the title. However don’t be surprised if the Magic stay put with their current side, since as Otis Smith has always said “I Like this team.”

Well out of the four CP3 is the one you need, but I personally want Melo or Iggy in there.

I actually think you'll be better keeping the guys you have (at least the core). CP3 would be great but i like the Jameer-Dwight duo as it is

Nice addition with the rumor mill hmmm I do think CP3 would be welcomed to the team but maybe someone to fill in an aging Vince's shoes when he retires.
