Minneapolis/St. Paul - Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor announced the firing of General Manager David Kahn on Monday, ending his 1 year tenure with the organization.
David Kahn was signed on June 17, 2009, brought in to make Minnesota contenders once again in the Western Conference and to make the playoffs for the first time in 6 years. David Kahn puzzled fans at the 2009 NBA Draft when he drafted Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn back-to-back, both who play point guard. He then made a few low key trades and ended up bringing in another point guard in Ramon Sessions from the Milwaukee Bucks. Last Thursday at the 2010 NBA Draft David Kahn repeated his same formula as last year, he drafted Wesley Johnson with the 4th overall pick, followed by Lazar Hayward and Nemanja Bjelica with picks 30 and 31. All three whom are small forwards. The organization has decided to hand the reigns over to a younger blood with a different mind set to try and get this squad into post-season action.
Replacing David Kahn is a 19 year old Canadian going by the name of Tyler William. Owner Glen Taylor apparently was overly impressed with the kid's interview and likes the direction that he wants to go with the team. It is reported that the new General Manager and coach Kurt Rambis have already developed a close relationship so there shouldn't be a coaching change in Minnesota for a while now.

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Early Tuesday morning General Manager Tyler William and Owner Glen Taylor announced that the Minnesota Timberwolves will be changing their name, logo and uniforms for the 2010/2011 NBA season. The organization decided to rename the franchise the Minnesota Wolves, thus dropping the "Timber" from their name. "We have done nothing under that name," replied Owner Glen Taylor as a reporter asked him why they are changing names. "We want to start winning and changing our name gives us a new identity." The Wolves revealed that they will be using their current 2nd alternate logo as their new primary logo, the logo features a wolf howling at the sky and in the backgrounds are trees. The Wolves will be using their old 1989/90 logo as the new 2nd alternate as it is seen on the shorts of their new uniforms.
The new jerseys turned out to be the Hardwood Classic jerseys that the team wore for a selected amount of games last season. These jerseys were designed around the same jerseys that the franchise wore during the 1989/90 NBA season. "The first thing I did here when I was signed was ask how everyone felt about the team. The number one complaint about the team was the jerseys," said General Manager Tyler William. "They said they were very angry with management on how they didn't come to them and ask for their opinion when they were designing them. When the new jerseys were released two years ago none of the players liked the look or feel of them. They told me how they would rather wear the Hardwood Classics, and how when they came out a year ago they all fell in love with them and how much lighter they were compared to their real jerseys. I immediately took this to Glen and he felt the same way as the players did." The Wolves will use the away jersey as an alternate next season.
