New-Look New Orleans Hornets

Postby bullsfan009 on Thu Dec 15, 2005 7:13 am

Hi everybody, I'm finally getting up my Live 2004 season. My team will be...the New Orleans Hornets! Why, you ask? Because I asked my brother to suggest a team, and for some reason he chose the Hornets. So here are my settings:

 All-Star mode (this will be challenging b/c I'm still new to the game)
 30 game season (the Bobcats are included)
 Andrew's sliders w/a few of my own modifications. Realistic gameplay was the goal, don't worry.
 Updated rosters (I have Chris Paul, JR Smith, Desmond Mason, etc.)
 7-7-7-7 playoff format
 CPU-assistance OFF, Injuries OFF, Fatigue ON, Simulation Rules
 I'm going to do trading for sure, but CPU-Initiated Trading is OFF. I'll update rosters to reflect the real NBA, though, like with the soon-to-be Ron Artest trade.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm going to try to get screenshots up. Those who followed my Live 2000 teams may remember that I've had difficulties with that in the past, but I'll do what I can. Also, I plan on making my recaps shorter this time around, although full of info & excitement.

Stay tuned...

DBF editing...if you edit teams.dbf to give the Bobcats a division, plus there's a field called "In Season" I think...anyway it only works in Season mode, not Dynasty, like you said. There's a thread in the Live 2004 section that explains it, that's how I learned. Just do a search if you want.

I see, I thought this was a Dynasty. Anyways, good luck with the Hornets Bullsfan. I'll be following like usual. Hopefully this'll be as good as your 2000 Franchise. Can't wait for the games!

hey, with 30 teams in the league you will only play 29 games. You can play with yourself of course, but hey, I've been told that in english it also means another thing :P

Ooh, can't wait.

So, if this is season mode, does that mean you're only going to do one season? I hope not. :(

I'm going to take it one at a time...besides, the Bobcats can't be included in Dynasty mode and that's one sure win I'd be without

Season Introduction

Addressing all the Hornets fans out there, here is da coach, Byron Scott.

Image COACH SCOTT: Welcome everybody to a new season of Hornets basketball. Our great city of New Orleans was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in the offseason, and right now many of our fans have a lot more important things to worry about than basketball.

But I know from once being a player that escapes like basketball can keep citizen's morales high, keep them interested and motivated in their lives. So we're dedicating this season to all those affected by the hurricane- may our effort, attitude, purpose, belief, and love inspire you all to keep on keepin' on.

Now, regarding the team, I'm going to be the GM this season, as well, so I'm planning on some upcoming roster moves. We've got a lot of talent on this squad, but I don't think the pieces quite fit together. With the right transactions, I think we can build a title-contending team this year. We may have to sacrifice young talent in the process, but with our special goal this season, it's going to be worth it to have a special season to remember. So stay tuned everyone, you'll be hearing from us very soon.

Peace,
da Coach and da GM Byron Scott

OK, Sac-1, I hope you win most of them.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS TRANSACTION #1

BREAKING NEWS: Last night a blockbuster trade went down as the New Orleans Hornets acquired All-Star swingman Michael Redd and 4th string center Ervin Johnson from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for the some talented youngsters: guard J.R. Smith and forward David West.

Image

NO GETS:
ImageMichael Redd- 6'6", 215 lbs, Ohio St.

ImageErvin Johnson- 6'11", 245 lbs, New Orleans

MIL GETS:
ImageJ.R. Smith- 6'6", 220 lbs, High School

ImageDavid West- 6'9", 240, Xavier

After the deal went down, we caught up with New Orleans head coach Bryron Scott for his comments:

ImageCOACH SCOTT: This was a big deal, a really big deal for both teams, and one that I believe really helps out both squads. We hated to have to part with such an explosive and exciting young talent such as J.R. Smith, and a player in David West who also possesses a lot of potential. Milwaukee will be pleased with both players for many years, there's no doubt in my mind.

But I ok'd the deal because I was ecstatic over the prospect of getting Michael Redd. Here's a guy that works extremely hard, has improved his scoring average and overall game every single year, and has already gone from a 2nd round pick to an All-Star. And he's just 26 years old. Myself and the rest of the coaching staff really believe that this kid can lead a contender, that he has what it takes...And don't overlook Ervin Johnson, either. This guy's a solid veteran who gives us very good interior defense with his rebouding and shot blocking abilities. Role players of his kind are invaluable to good teams. So we'll see what happens- I can't wait for our first practice together. We'll see if anyone can compete with Michael in a 3-point shooting contest.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS TRANSACTION #2

BREAKING NEWS: The Hornets completed another preseason transaction as they traded Desmond Mason to the Miami Heat in exchange for reserve center Alonzo Mourning. "Zo" is expected to start for the Hornets.

Image

NO GETS:
ImageAlonzo Mourning- tough shotblocking & rebounding veteran center.

MIA GETS:
ImageDesmond Mason- highflying swingman, hardworking youngster with potential.

ImageCOACH'S COMMENTS- With the additional of Alonzo to our frontline, I believe we just added a huge new dimension to our defense. Zo' blocks shots with the best of them- the opposition is always mighty aware of his presence in the paint. I hope that Alonzo can be a Defensive Player of the Year canidate, and hold down the fort for us in the middle. And for the Heat, well they already had Shaquille O'Neal to take the bulk of the minutes at center, and Michael Doleac as a very capable backup. They like Desmond Mason's potential, and he could pan out to be a key player for them this season and in the years to come.

nice trades, its funny cuz scott said earvin johnson will be a nice defensive presence inside but i went to the game yesterday (miami vs mil, in mia) and shaq scored on him like three times in a row, johnson fouled him and it still went in but i guess thats just shaq but redd is a great addition, CP3 and redd is a dynamic backcourt and Zo inside will dominate defensively, i agree your weak at the 3 and I like how u reunited Zo and PJ, brings back old memories of the Heats glory days and my fav player Tim Hardaway,

have fun with this one

Thanks. I'm not done tinkering with my lineup, though. There's more changes ahead.

I agree...I'll have to do something about that :cheeky:

DREeaZy06- thanks for the well wishes...and  I remember those days of Heat-Knicks in the Playoffs. so many memories- Allan Houston hitting the buzzer-beater in Game 5, Jeff Van Gundy riding Zo's leg in a brawl, Larry Johnson going at it with I forget who, etc etc etc
And yeah Tim Hardaway was awesome, I liked him too.

damn why did you have to bring that Houston buzzer beater up, its funny cuz now im doin a dynasty with them, but i actually like them, i guess the hatchet is burried after the deals that have been made, this new knicks team is exciting but Isaiah Thomas has made a real mess, look out for the changes
