Magic Dynasty

Sun Oct 24, 2004 2:47 pm

I thought I would do a franchise with Denver, But I decided to go with the Magic. Not becuase of the chance to rebuild Grant Hill's career, or the opportunity to use the number 1 pick. Stevie Francis is probably my favourite player, and that was reason enough :P. First game was against Milwaulkee.

The Bucks started quickly, with Michael Redd and Mike James both shooting pretty well, and we were down by 10 most of the first quarter. Cuttino and Hedo led a brief comeback, and we tied it up at 20. At the end of the first, the score was 24-20 Milwaulkee. The second quarter was a defensive struggle. Both teams really were defending well, but with the shooters there were on the court, there would be a small run here and there. We held a lead for a bit before Milwaulkee finished strong to take the lead.

End of the 1st half:
Milwaulkee 44
Orlando 41

The second half started the same way the 1st half finished, with the Bucks controlling both ends of the court. This is when I put the ball in stevie's hands and let him create. He isn't a good shooter in this years live, but he can get to the rim with ease. Milwaulkee finished the quarter up 72- 65, but I was confident of a push in the 4th. Francis continued to get to the rim, but then The bucks started to play a zone to clog up the lane. This opened up things for Hedo and Cuttino, who got us back into the lead. Down the stretch, Francis and Hill would contsantly penetrate and either get fouled or set up cuttino for open shots. Dwight Howard was great crashing the boards down the strecth and we Held on to win 95-92

Next Game for orlando: Vs New Orleans

Mon Oct 25, 2004 11:52 am

Atlanta Signs Alonzo Mourning

Orlando at New Orleans

1st quarter:

After the last game against Milwalkee, I knew I couldn't get off to a slow start. New orleans has some depth and can beat you in alot of different ways. Mobley was effective out of the gates, shooting mid ranges over Wesley quite effectively, and we managed to end the 1st quarter up 23-19. In the second, Dwight Howard finally began to emerge, showing a nice little shot in the lane and quickness to get around P.J. Brown. He will be a gun in this franchise for a long time (Y).

End of the 1st half: Orlando 47, New Orleans 40.

2nd half started with Baron becoming much more aggressive. You have to give him space or he'll drive right by you, but if you give him space, he burns you with the 3. Him and stevie had quite a duel in the second half, but Baron had the better 3rd quarter, and brought the Hornets back into striking distance, down only 66-63 to start the fourth. Down the strecth tho, Stevie and Dwight delivered big time for the magic, and despite Barons great game, we pulled off a nice win, 93-85.

Player of the game

Nice read dude. Pitty you aint got pics, but you make up for that with the nice updates of other games.

What settings are you using??

Its good to see Howard producing early on in the season, good luck.

OMG! Nets are 1-0!

That's two dynasties where the Nets start 1-0!

Great dynasty, even without the pictures you still make it interesting to read.

Next game for Orlando is at Charlotte.. Emeka vs Howard :P

I'll be at that game Nov.6, right!

Nice start, keep it up.

Mon Oct 25, 2004 3:40 pm

Orlando at Charlotte

1st quarter:

After comming back from a convincing win against New Orleans, I must admit, I felt there was no way I could lose to The Bobcats... But man, did I get a kick in the arse early. Charlotte came out on fire! Defensively they are very underatted. Jason Hart, Gerrald Wallace, Jahidi White, Emeka.. all these guys were cunts to score on, and I only put 11 points up in the first quarter. Charlotte led 23-11... but i still felt confident of winning this one. The great thing about this game is teams go on runs frequently.. so i knew it would only be a matter of time... but the start of the 2nd wasn't much better, and withabout 2 minutes left i had only managed to put up 22 points! The score was 40- 22 before i finally kicked it into gear and we went on a 10-2 run to finish the half within striking distance, down 42-32.

Second half started exactly the way I didnt want it to, with Charlotte making some open shots. Jason Kapono can shoot better than 90% of the players in live. I was able to bring it back again, and the quarter ended with Charlotte still up by double digits, 56-45. 45 points in 3 quarters.. thats disgusting i was thinking, but the fourth was a different story. Francis finally started playing better, as did mobley, and those two started a late surge which got me right back into the lead... and with a minute and a half left to go, francis led a fast break 2-2 with mobley.. francis penetrated and drew both men and dished it to mobley for three that he drilled to give us our first lead of the game! but it would last as charlotte had back to back 3 point plays that put them up by 5. Mobley hit a 3 to cut it down to two, then we were forced to foul. hart made both, so i called a timeout, mobley hit another 3.. lead was down to one. fouled hart again, he made the first, missed the second, and i got the board and called for time. bobcats up 79-77 with 1.4 left on the clock, and inbound went in to cuttino, he shot a deep three that felt great... but it was just off to the left. I lost to charlotte! lol..

Player of the Game
Emeka Okafur
11 points (5/8 fg's, 1/1 ft) 3 rebounds, 5 blocks, 4 steals

Stats for Orlando Starters:
Cato, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal 1 block
Howard 16 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist 1 block
Hill 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist...
Mobley 21 points (4/5 3pt) 1 rebound 1 assist
Francis 19 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal

Charlotte ended up with 14 more shots than me.. I wonder if the back to back road games effected my players. If so, that's awesome that ea has implemented that into the dynasty :)

Only one other game:
Washington 102
Miami 86
Jamison 23 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals
Shaq 33 points (1/1 3 pts!) 18 rebounds.

Mon Oct 25, 2004 4:15 pm

Lol of all the teams to lose too. :D

Neway its good to lose in dynasties i rekon, i hate winning all the time, its loses its fun.

Have you thought about increasing the quarter length? You will find you'll get mroe rebounds etc, you may just have to lower the game speed slider etc.

Mon Oct 25, 2004 4:31 pm

lol i know farken, the bobcats, they are now 2-0 and leading the division! somehow i dont think that will stay the same..

I havent thought about upping the quarter length just yet. The stats are pretty good.. maybe when i go up to superstar difficulty i will..

Damn bobcats

Mon Oct 25, 2004 6:12 pm

   @ this pathetic little "franchise"

Just messing Matthew, it looks nice so far...keep it up. (yay Lakers won vs San Antonio)

Rookie Scouting

I decided to do some scouting, seeing my team has a few days off.

Cordell Narris
Small Forward
19 years old
6'6, 232 lbs
Potential: Excellent
Projected Draft position: Top 15

Casius Jarvis
Centre
22 years old
6"10, 236 lbs
Potential: Good
Projected Draft position: top 20

Peter Cheung
Small Forward
22 years old
6"7 192 lbs
Potential: Good
Projected draft position: late 1st round

As you can probably tell, I'm looking to draft a small forward or centre, mainly becuase Grant Hill comes off the books this season and I don't think I'll be able to re-sign him and Cuttino Mobley. Also, I have no idea where i'll finish in the season, so im looking into the mid to late draft picks... I'll post the scouting results as soon as they become available to me (y)

Mon Oct 25, 2004 6:19 pm

this pathetic little "franchise"

Shut up, stevie can't help being small :x

Mon Oct 25, 2004 6:25 pm

Yes he can, he grew up in the Mr T era, are you having Mr T´s greatness in doubt or something? He should know that milk makes you bigger since Mr T promoted it alot back then.

Mon Oct 25, 2004 7:54 pm

Nice, too bad you can't take pictures.... :(

Tue Oct 26, 2004 8:02 am

Pictues added on to this dynasty would help alot but it is still very good right now (Y)

Tue Oct 26, 2004 8:31 pm

Ok, this is quite a big update, so lets get to it :)

NBA Transactions
I decided to look into trading for Stephen Jackson, and i made an offer:

Andrew Declerq and Hedo for Stephen Jackson

Indiana returned saying it wouldn't fit under their cap, so the next day I tried:
Keith Bogans and Hedo for Jackson and David Harrison (the pacers number 1 pick last draft)

It was accepted with the pacers saying it would help both teams. Bogans was getting no playing time being Nelson and Franchise, and I think Jackson is an upgrade over Hedo. Jackson might just end up starting over grant hill this season, and like i said earlier, I doubt I'll keep hill considering that mobley's contract is also up. I altered Jackson from a sg to a sf and his rating went from 62 to 66(Y)

I also got some scouting results back, but they aren't complete. I sent the scout back out some different categories, when the scouting is complete of those 3 players, i'll post the results.

Now to the game :P

Dallas @ Orlando

After the debacle at Charlotte and two days rest, Orlando came out fired up and with somthing to prove against one of the best teams in the west, the Dallas Mavericks. After a 7-0 run, Dallas actually played some good defense and got back into the game. The quarter finished with Orlando up 17-13. The second quarter started with Stepehen Jackson showing signs after the trade. He hit a 3 with his first touch, and then a mid range shot that found nothing but the bottom of the net. Dwight Howard continued his impresive form and was dominating Dirk inside. Stevie started to play better towards the end of the half, and we took a 41-33 lead into the break.

3rd quarter started very similar to the 1st, but this time we substained it throughout the quarter. Francis, Howard, Mobley, Jackson all ran the break very well, and in the half court we were just unstopable. Defensively, the Magic were awesome, and we outscored them 29-12 in the 3rd to give us a 70 - 45 lead heading into the fourth. The last quarter was just a curtain call as the game was already won. Mobley capped the win with a buzzer beating 3 as we won 90-70. If only he did that the game before  hehe

Orlando @ Washington

Comming into this game I was aware of how dangerous the wizards can be after they beat Miami on back to back games, and last time I had a back to back set, i lost to charlotte. We started off really well tho, with stevie and cuttino playing well. Grant Hill was also playing well before he got banged up on an early drive and had to leave the game with a bad elbow.. but at least it wasnt his ankle. We were up 19-18 before Juan Dixon hit a halfcourt buzzer beater to give them a 21-19 lead after 1 quarter. The second quarter saw Dwight Howard start to emerge offensively, and stephen jackson was playing Hill's minutes. My adjusted rotation had garrity as backup sf, battie backup pf and declerq backup centre, with nelson and stevenson in the backcourt. The half ended with washington only up by 1, 43-42.

The second half started badly for us, with Washington dictating the style of play. Francis did manage to keep it relatively close, and Jackson really does help this team with his outside shooting. Teams have to respect it. The 3rd ended with washington up 67- 59. The fourth started with a lineup of Francis, Stevenson, Garrity, Battie and declerq. I knew I couldn't let washington go on another run, and we didnt. Washington was locked down by our defense and only allowed 2 points in the first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Down the stretch, cuttino and Arenas had a shooting duel, both hitting 3 3's in a game of cat and mouse and stevie finished off the win hitting 2 free throws to make it a 5 points win, 86-81.

Co Player of the game (The xbox decided francis was pog, but i think mobley was, so i'll give them co players of the game :P )

Cuttino Mobley
26 points (9/14 fgs, 5-7 3pt, 3/3 ft)
2 rebounds
2 Steals

Stevie Franchise
26 points (10/20 fgs, 0-4 3pt, 6-6 ft)
5 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals

Who do you guys think deserved POG honours?

Rest of the stats

Cato 2 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks
Howard 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks
Hill 6 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds before getting injured
Stephen Jackson 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals
Jameer Nelson 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist

Other Scores:
Indiana 99

Jermaine O'neal 32 points, 14 rebounds

Milwalkee 78
Charlotte 70
Keith Van Horn 30 points 12 rebounds

Pierce 26 points

Nets 90
76ers 82

Glenn Robinson 25 points, 9 rebounds

As you guys probably noticed, Charlotte lost to Milwalkee, so the magic are first with a 4-1 record. Next up is the lakers. I got a message on my pda regarding Grant Hill, he will be available to play but I'll rest him for one game. I'll activate Augman.. so the rotation will be:
Cato
Howard
Jackson
Mobley
Francis

Then the bench:
Battie
Garrity
Augman
Stevenson
Nelson

I'm pumped for the game against la

Wed Oct 27, 2004 4:18 pm

A very solid start to the season.

I'm enjoying reading this one. How is Nelson playing for you?

As to the player of the gmae honors i would say that Mobley deserved cos he shot better.

Good luck for the Lakers (Y)

Great dynasty here bro!

Your words speak louder than pictures.

I'm having a great time reading this stuff. Keep it up! (Y)

I'm enjoying reading this one. How is Nelson playing for you?

Nelson was really struggling before, he has some low ratings, but since the trade he has the backup pg job all to himself, he has played alot better. He's a good little player, I like him, he doesnt do much, but he doesnt hurt me either when he plays.

As to the player of the gmae honors i would say that Mobley deserved cos he shot better.

Same, Cuttino has delivered big time this season. I hope I can keep him at the end of the season.

Great dynasty here bro!

Your words speak louder than pictures.

I'm having a great time reading this stuff. Keep it up!

Fuck I forgot to write the review for the lakers game lol, here it is:

Lakers @ Orlando

In previous years, I've always loved playing against the lakers. It's been the highlight of my regular season, even moreso than the asg. But this year is different... no shaq, no dominance... but still, la has some firepower in this game, so i had to be ready for them. I stuck to my lineups in my previous post, with Jackson starting, and it couldnt have worked out better. He and Cuttino don't allow the computer to play zone on stevie, which allows him to penetrate so much easier. We jumped out to a big lead early, and finished the 1st quarter up 28-16. The second quarter saw kobe step up, and he is such a hard player to guard one on one. the good thing about this game is you really have to respect his outside shot, or he'll burn you. once you press him tho, he goes right by you. Behind kobe the Lakers mounted a late run in the 2nd quarter to finish the half down 54-46, well within reach for them to make a charge...

... which is what they did to start the 3rd. they went on a 10-0 run to take the lead 56-54 before Orlando started to respond. But it wasn't stevie doing the damage, it was Stephen Jackson! He played awesome in the 3rd quarter, and got us back into the lead to finish the quarter, up 76- 72. We continued the run into the start of the 4th and held a 6 point lead with about 5 and a half to go before la came storming back with a 15-0 run that looked like it would finish us off. But thats when Dwight howard emerged as a star. He had back to back offensive rebounds and was fouled twice and went 4-4 that cut the lead back down to 5, then francis started to break down the defense and kept finding jackson and mobley open for jumpshots, and carried us to a 3 point lead. Kobe missed a late 3 and howard got the board and was fouled. He missed the first but made the second to seal a 100 -96 win to move us to 5-1 on the season. Kobe had himself a great ballgame tho with 33 points.

Player of the Game
Stephen Jackson!
21 points (8-16 fg, 5-7 3pt)
