Pistons suffer big opening night lossPistons 68, Clippers 89
Nov. 11th, L.A. (AP) - Kaman and Camby caused some serious double damage in the Clippers first win of the season.
The Pistons wanted to come up big in their first regular season game with Allen Iverson, but ended up defeated as the two Clippers' bigs sealed the deal in a never really threatened win. Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby combined for 24 points and 30 rebounds to beat the Pistons from the inside. Another proove could be the 52 points in the paint by the Clippers. Or maybe the 14 offensive boards they grabbed.
Detroit showed that they still miss Antonio McDyess fighting for rebounds. "I thought we practised rebounding enough, it was almost a daily session to talk about boxing out etc. but we still did not do so properly. Our preseason game at Boston was a lesson and we still have not learned from it.", Coach Curry said at the post presser. Still, the Pistons have to blame themselve that they could not find their rhythm on offense.
Of 15 points in the first quarter Rip Hamilton scored 12 of his 21 to keep Detroit in range as they trailed 15-20.
In the 2nd the Clippers really started off. Marcus Camby had a huge 2nd quarter scoring on 2nd chance points almost at will. Ricky Davis, the Clipps high scorer of the game with 17 points had 6 in the 2nd. Many of those points were of dishes from Baron Davis who had 7 of his 11 assists in the 2nd. B-Diddy could not find his shooting rhythm though and was 5-17 (12 points) for the game. The Clipps led 34-47 at half.
In the 3rd the Pistons shot one brick after another. Allen Iverson only hit one shot in the third and was 3-14 for the game but dished out 9 assists. Detroit had only 13 points in the third thanks to some atrocious D by the Clipps like when Baron Davis swatted AI's shot from behind for the play of the game. Tayshaun Prince tried his best to get the Pistons within range as he scored 10 of his 16 in the third but Detroit was down 47-66 at the beginning of the fourth.
Although the Pistons were better in the fourth, thanks to Rodney Stuckey scoring 10 points on 5-5 shooting and thanks to the Clipps bringing on their reserves. All in all a nice win for the new formed Clippers who showed that you have to take them serious this season. Detroit still has to improve.

It's cool, I do that too but the dynasty can only go at your pace. I'm not pressed to put up an update unless i want to. It was good while it lasted.
