I don't think there's anything wrong with trades early on, I usually try to avoid making them but as you may have seen, I gave into that temptation in the second year of my Bulls Dynasty.
Ideally, the situation could be explained with some invented backstory (which I admittedly didn't, I simply changed my mind about a couple of offseason moves I'd made) but I think the main problem when starting a new Dynasty is that you only have a small shred of an offseason to partake in before the first season begins, which means blockbusters that would perhaps be more realistic in the offseason - if not the trade deadline - happen early on in the schedule instead. Of course, I had an opportunity to do that in my second season and still didn't because it's tempting when a lineup isn't working out.
As far as your trade goes Skillmatic, it's not the most realistic and it would never have happened in real life but a Dynasty game is your own reality and it's not as though foolish deals don't happen. Hopefully, it works out for you.
