Warriors hiring a new coaching staff

The Golden State Warriors want to get the best they can with a budget of 1.82 Million $. As an Assistant Coach they Hired Nweke Garnett (who is not related to KG) for 2 Years. Garnett says he loved to sign this contract, even though the salary he gets was not as high as expected, because the warriors have a big potential and drafted 3 talented rookies.
Saul Baldwin a B rated Scout has now also joined the Warriors. He'll stay 1 year and will be looking for talents especially in Africa.
Finally as a Trainer they picked 56-year-old Ellery Earl. He signed a 2 year contract but of course the Warriors hope he will not get a lot of work.

The Golden State Warriors returned from Training Camp

Garnett says the Camp has been very succesful, the team worked hard and improved a lot. Jason Richardson has worked hard since he has a huge objection. He wants to guide this franchise together with Baron Davis to the Playoffs. Richardson sais:" Oh, and there is another thing I want to achieve, I want to make it back to the All-Star Weekend." J-Rich has not competet in any of the contests in the 2005 All-Star Weekend. This was the first time since in the previous 3 years he dunked in the Slam Dunk Contest. Beside Richardson also Mickael Pietrus and Ike Diogu improved a lot. Mike Montgomery sais: "This season is our season we will make it into the playoffs." Now whole Oakland is looking forward to see their Team play. The first game will take place on November 2nd at home against the hawks(10/28/05)

The Warriors lose against Joe Johnson and the Hawks

The Warriors lose 118-94 in a game in which they had the lead for some time in the third

The Warriors had a terrible first quarter especially Baron Davis who could get nearly nothing to fall. Also defensively nothing worked out the way it should. The Hawks took advantage and with some huge points of Joe Johnson got a comfortable 34-20 lead at the end of the first.
In the second quarter the Warriors continued to struggle. With points and assists J-Rich could avoid the lead of the Hawks growing much. And when Davis came off the bench half way through this quarter finally things changed. The Warriors had a 17-2 run ending with two open 3-pointers for Baron Davis. Mickael Pietrus hit the buzzer to cut the Hawks lead to just 2 points. So after 2 the score was 53-51 for the Hawks.
In the third none of the teams played better than the other one the lead changed a few times but when the buzzer came, the Hawks led 82-75.
Now the pressure was on J-Rich and BD... and they couldn't handle it. Davis missed some open threes and J-Rich could not get anything going. The Hawks made their shots and the Warriors missed them. The lead had grown to 20 points when the Warriors gave up with 2 Minutes left and sent their second team to compete. The Hawks won it 118-94. Player of the Game was Joe Johnson who had 33 points along with 6 boards plus an incredible 5 Steals.

Inside the Warriors
Team members about the first game:
Mike Montgomery:"I'm of course not satisfied this game showed us we still
have a lot of Work to do. We have not been succesful at both ends of the court. We have to get stronger inside to get some easy baskets and the outside players have to do a better job at the Defense. In the second quarter we played like a team who deserves a Playoffspot but that's not enough we have to play the whole game like this."
Baron Davis:"It's always tough to lose the first game of the season, I was not playing well especially in the first quarter then it got a little bit better. My stats look okay but I've got to shoot more than just 10 out of 23. Next time We'll do better I promise."
Troy Murphy:"I am not satisfied with my game today. I've had a double double but I've missed to many shots. Jason and Baron dished out some nice passes and me, Andris and Adonal made too few of them we have to improve.""I like Ike's game he did not bad, but he also was not able to be a dominant presence inside. I know it's early but I think if he works hard He could be just what we needed Inside in a few month."
Jason Richardson:"Well we had another bad start this year. We had some good plays during some time we played well. I started pretty good but wasn't able to take my good shooting into the 4th quarter. If we want to win the next game we have to be alert from the very beginning until the very end. I't won't work like we tried to make it work today. We've got back and the second quarter was hard and made all of us tired so we couldn't take enough power with us for the rest of the game."
