Inspired by Jae.. uh I mean Andrew

Fri Jan 06, 2006 7:32 pm

Back in the old NLSC, my greatest dynasty story was labelled "inspired by jae". At the time, it was inspired by Jae. But this bad boy is inspired by Andrew, so without further ado...

The Story of the 2005/06 Charlotte Bobcats

Letter from Robert Johnson, owner of the Bobcats.

Last season, the Charlotte Bobcats entered the NBA. As you know, they won 18 games. Emeka Okafur won the Rookie of the year. The team is built around steady NBA talent. The likes of Kareem Rush, Brevin Knight and Gerald Wallace make this team competitive on most nights. But this is not what I envisioned. I don't want a team that just plays hard. I want a winner, and won't be satisfied until I get that. Remeber fans, this is the time for building, not to be satisfied. We will win a championship here in Charlotte.

Becuase of that, I have made the following changes in our staff.:
Assistant Coach: Brendale Harper (-A)
Scout: Jahi Howard (-A)
Trainer: Ben Anthony (-C)

And our biggest aquisition, a new team president, Matthew Damian. Matthew will be watching over everything that happens from making trades to advising player rotations. Bernie Bickerstaff is still the head coach and will remain so.

2005/06 will be a big year for the Bobcats, so get to the games, be loud, be proud, and lets support our team!

I'm flattered.

What kind of deals are you looking to make at this time? I've heard rumblings about a Tar Heels reunion...

Fri Jan 06, 2006 7:46 pm

I would love to bring in Marvin Williams and Rashaad Mcants.. I just made one small deal though: Brevin Knight for Dejaun Wagner. Dejaun will get good playing time and a chance to develop here. He has a great chance to become a starter.

Looks like Felton will be running the show then. Interesting deal, I certainly didn't see it coming.

Bobcats @ Bulls

Matthew Damian announced just before tip off that Emeka Okafur and Gerald Wallace were named team captains. This seemed to fire up Charlotte as they came out on fire and took an early 12-2 lead. Sean May and Raymond Felton looked like they were still in UNC as they played brilliantly off each other. Charlotte would maintain that 10 point lead into to the start of the second quarter (up 32-22) until Raymond Felton would leave the game with an injured back. This put a huge responsability on Dejaun Wagner who stepped into the role of the main point guard and helped Charlotte hold onto a 9 point lead heading into halftime, 58-49.

2nd half

Even with a 9 point lead, the flow the Bobcats enjoyed for most of the first half was gone with Felton's injury. Duhon and Hinrich played great basketball in the third quarter, forcing turnovers and hitting three's, tying the game at 72 before Emeka and Gerald Wallace helped restore a 84- 79 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The final quarter started with Gordon and Hinrich carrying much of the offensive load, but Sean May was continueing to abuse Mike Sweeteney on the block, hitting face up jumpers. The Bulls made a run to tie the game before Emeka hit a tough shot over Chandler, then off a wagner steal, the Bobcats pushed a fast break which resulted in an open 15 footer missed by wagner... but Sean May tip dunked the miss to give the bobcats a 4 point lead and momentum! In the final minute Charlotte had a 107-100 lead before Hinrich and Duhon started to reign in 3's. The score was 110-107 and chicago had possesion. Duhon missed a game tying 3 but chandler had the offensive board but inexplicply put up a 5 footer when the bulls needed a 3! He made it but it didnt matter as Charlotte won 110-109. After the game, Andrew Begley spoke to reporters:

"To lose a game like this to essentially a college team is unacceptable. It feels like charity becuase we gave it away. Mike Sweetney's performance on the defensive end was disgusting. Sean May is a rooke and he took over down the stretch. I know its just the first game, but jesus, this is not a team we should be losing to"

Matthew Damian had this response:

Wow that brings back some memories lol. I like the Wagner deal, he's a good spark plug type in NBA Live. I'll keep reading, and I look forward to further post game comments from the Bobcats head coach

Nice first win

Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:05 pm

I'm loving the idea of this "alternate realities" thing we'll have going with the two Dynasty games. But you know I'll have to seek revenge in my NBA Live "universe". ;)

Nice start..Good luck with this..

Mon Jan 09, 2006 12:36 pm

just made one small deal though: Brevin Knight for Dejaun Wagner.

I like this dynasty already.

Dajuan Wagner is the greatest guard to grace the NBA courts. At least thats what I think.

Tue Jan 10, 2006 10:57 am

Sorry about the delay, I got xbox live and have been addicting Halo 2.

Transaction
With the unknown status of Felton, I decided to look around for a backup pg and move Wagner to the 2. I was interested in Travis best but couldnt work out a deal, so I made an offer to Atlanta of Jake Voskul and Primoz Brezec for Tyronne Lue. They accepted. This deal helps out alot in the future as I dumped those contracts on Atlanta.

So with that trade, the new rotation is:
c: Emeka
pf: May
sf: Wallace
sg: Rush
pg: Felton

Bench:
Ely, Allen, Bogans, Wagner, Lue

I also signed Laurence Funderburke to a one year deal. He will be there just in case of foul trouble.

Charlotte @ Philly (This game was a few days ago so the recap wont be long)

1st Half
Raymond Felton was fine to play and started his second ball game. Charlotte seemed energized by his precense and jumped out to a ten point lead before Philly came back behind Iverson and Dalemburt. Dalemburt was unstopble on the offensive board (emeka was comming on help defense on iverson alot). Charlotte lead 31-28 at the end of 1. In the second, Wagner and Lue pressed up alot and May continued to play well. Philly however cut the lead to one at halftime. Iverson was unstopble getting to the rim.

2nd Half saw Emeka begin to dominate, using his quickness and strength to finish around the rim against dalemburt. But he was the lone poistive as Philly took control of the game with 32 points and took a 5 point lead into the fourth, up 93-88. In the fourth Felton, Wallace and Rush all dropped big 3's to kepp it close but AI was just too good, leading Philly to a 119-115 win. Charlotte was 16 of 27 from the line.

Player of the Game
Iverson
37 points, 16-28 shooting.
4 rebounds
6 assists
1 steal
1 block

Bobcats players
Emeka: 23 points, 16 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks
May; 26 points, 10/17 fgs, 8 rebounds, 3 assists
Wallace; 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks
Felton 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Lue 8 points, 2 assists
wagner 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist

How good has May and Felton been so far? I might have 2 all rookie first teamers on this team. It's only a matter of time before I put Wagner in the starting lineup and put rush on the bench. I'm happy I lost this game. If I had won both games with the bobcats id be a bit worried about getting a challenge out of this game

Other scores:
Nets 98
Raptors 90

Grizzlies 88
Magic 87

Boston 85
Detroit 80
Boston starters combined for 80 points

Knicks 95
Bucks 86
Marbury 43 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists

Tue Jan 10, 2006 1:09 pm

Great win...for Philly  Awesome dynasty (Y)

Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:15 pm

Tough loss but May is looking really promising. AI's almost always a killer, I'm not looking forward to facing him later on. I like the latest trade, wise move dumping two guys you don't need for ones that can help you out, with further cap relief being icing on the cake.
