DA BULLS!

Postby ignatu on Fri Jan 06, 2006 7:18 am

My DA BULLS dynasty is in its first year. I started with the Bulls before the Curry trade, and through trades managed to acquire Kobe Bryant and Amare Stoudamire. I also created a rookie sensation point guard called "Magic Mike Monroe" who isn't a great shooter but is a great passer and ball handler.

I play locked on Magic Mike, and let the computer take over when Mike is benched.

Throughout the season Kobe has been the team and league leader in points, with about 32 per game and a league high 62 one game. He's been pretty low with assists and rebounds, but those have improved to nearly 4 each per game once Kobe moved to the SF position after the All Star break.

Amare is second on the team in scoring with about 24 per game, and leads the team in rebounds with about 10 per game.

Magic Mike lives up to his name, averaging about 10 assists per game along with a league leading 3 steals per game.

Chris Mihm is the center, and Andres Nocioni rounds out the starting five at shooting guard.

The season length is 29 games (shortest available.) The Bulls were 14-9 and seventh in the Eastern Conference, in range of 4th in the conference when Kobe was injured. He'll be out the remainder of the season, but DA BULLS figured to shift some scoring over to Amare and a little to Magic Mike and Mihm.

In our first game without Kobe, DA BULLS faced Orlando. Magic Mike had 33 points mostly off screen jumpers and fighting inside for fouls, and 14 assists and Amare had 22 points and 22 rebounds, but the Magic edged us. Even so, it looked good heading into the final five games of the season without Kobe. DA BULLS figured to get the ball a little more to Amare and shoot a little less with Magic Mike, and they could adjust without Bryant and secure a playoff spot for Bryant's return.

Against Phoenix, Amare was injured and also would be out the remainder of the season. Phoenix blew out the Bulls, who struggled to find scoring. We then lost to Toronto, Philly and were headed into Eastern Conference leading Detroit to face the Pistons. Magic Mike picked up his game, averaging a triple double and over 25 points per game, but he had to take a lot of shots and down the stretch of games the Bulls just didn't have the scoring punch.

Surprisingly, DA BULLS managed to stay close to Detroit throughout the game, but fell behind by 12 early in the 4th quarter. Magic Mike led a furious comeback and the Bulls led by one with under a minute remaining. But Billups hit a three from way behind the arc, and Hamilton stole the ball and dunked, and then converted on a free throw to give Detroit a five point lead for win.

Now 14-14, DA BULLS have backed into a playoff spot, #8 in the East, and host Seattle for the final game of the season. Magic Mike intends to look to dish the ball and work on finding other scoring options for the team, which will hopefully make DA BULLS even stronger when Amare and Kobe return for the playoffs and Detroit in the first round.

DA BULLS have coined a new song to celebrate Amare on the team, and it's often played over the PA when Amare does something spectacular.

(To the tune of 'That's Amore' as sung by Dean Martin - look it up.)

When your team needs a dunk
To get out of a funk
That's Amare
When the Game's on the Line
He can fly through the sky
That's Amare
