Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra to step away from team for personal reasons.
Miami, FL (AP) Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has announced in a press release from the team that he was stepping away from the team indefinitely for personal reasons and did not wish to say why. Heat officials said they do not expect Coach Spo back for the regular season and were not clear if it is a medical related absence. Dan Craig has been named interim head coach, but sources indicate the Heat are reaching out to top college coaches such as Tony Bennett, Mark Few, and Gregg Marshall. It will be interesting to see how Miami does in their opener against Orlando on Wednesday.
