Entry #1 - Anything unattempted... remains impossible

“You do realize that your resume is nowhere near top notch amongst my other contenders for the job right?” The man said as he spun in his chair to face Alexander, glancing at him with a look that almost said, ‘I’m better than you and I know it.’
“No, maybe not,” Alexander began, “But I’ll bet that none of your candidates can promise a championship the way I am going to do now.”
“Your bold predictions don’t intimidate me, nor do they convince me that it’s that you that should have the job. Dolan wants to step down as Executive Assistant, and wants an Owner that’s actually worth. Are you?”
Alexander grinned, knowing that this man would be an obstacle because his stern approaches.
“I’m not afraid to say it; but after you’ve interviewed all of the likely candidates, I will be the one that sticks out, and the one you won’t forget.”
The man took off his spectacles, and Alexander was expecting him to just tell me to get out. The frown on his face was making him easier and easier to read.
Alexander cringed inside, and just like that, he believed that he’d thrown away a job or albeit potentially in the NBA.
“Well…” he looked up, and saw his face and he had a small grin. “You remind me a little bit of myself, you know? I had some flash to my attitude, and I wouldn’t stop until I got what I wanted it.”
Alexander figured he’d test his luck with a handshake, but he figured that if the fiery attitude got him this far, he must have been doing something right. A nonchalant nod would do it.
“I’ll recommend you to the owner, so come back this Friday at 9:30. You’re on our shortlist.” He said.
“Thank you for the opportunity sir.” Ryan got out of the comfortable chair, and walked out the door with a poker face. Inside, he was beaming. Outside, he was professional.
Ryan Alexander was one step closer to becoming an Owner of an NBA team, at 20 years old.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alexander was pleasantly surprised when meeting up with the owner. He was far more likeable than the stern assistant that he’d met before.
We shook hands, and sat down. Dolan took a sip of his coffee and began. “I see you got past Scott, huh?”
Ryan was a bit puzzled, and he could tell.
“The assistant GM that met with you on Tuesday,” he informed me, and then smiled. “That’s always tough, and you must have something special for him to praise you the way he did.”
“I was just being myself, and showing him that I wouldn’t back down from trying to get this job, you know? I just feel like even though I don’t have the credibility that everyone else has, I have something they don’t, and that’s the knowledge and confidence that I can make this team the best in the NBA.
Dolan seemed almost impressed about what Alexander had said.
“You do have the fire and marketability to do something with this team.”
He pulled out something from under his desk, and Alexander’s heart began to sink for a few seconds.
“If you really want this job, then here it is.”
He signed the many pages of the contract, and shook hands and said goodbye to Dolan, who’d now step to a less-dramatic job of the Executive GM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, just like that, Ryan headed outside the office, where I’d be back tomorrow. He swaggered out of the arena like in the movies.
He overheard one of the interns in the crowded office watch him and say “What the hell is he doing?”
Ryan turned around, looked at the intern who looked at him daringly and calmly said, “Being your boss.” And just like that, Ryan had made an impact on his very first day as the GM of the New York Knicks.

Schedule for November 2012

Games likely to be played - No games for the first two days of October, but we'll be preparing for the first week, taking on two teams that are predicted to be elite amongst the East, the brand-new Nets, and the NBA Finals champions, the HEAT. In the next two weeks, we'll be heading Southwest to battle San Antonio and Dallas. During a packed Week #4, we'll head to Houston to battle the red-hot James Harden, and to round out the month, people could probably vote for that one, but if not, the Knicks will do battle with a lethal Ellis/Jennings backcourt vs. the Bucks.

Standards for the Schedule
- The way I'll probably play a game per week so I can get to the Playoffs quicker.
- If it's two big games in a week, I'll play both of those.
- If there's a certain game that anyone wants me to play, I'll play it.

Cheers to all, and thanks for following! The first game is coming up now that I have my hard drive.

Anthony, Smith shoot lights out to fly past Nets

J.R. Smith prepares an alley-oop to himself as an exclamation point that they're ready to end it.

New York Knicks, 95; Brooklyn Nets, 85
Top Storyline --- Battle of New York to Open the 2012-13 Season

Brooklyn, NY - Due to the warning of Hurricane Sandy, the Nets didn't even know if they'd play their home opener tonight.

While that ceased, Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith made it rain in the gym anyways, combining for 52 points and 6-of-12 shooting from deep to notch a 95-85

"It's one game out of 82," Carmelo Anthony said. "We just need to keep looking forward, and not getting to attached to the first win."

Still, it must feel good to grab the first win of the year, especially when it comes with the bragging rights of New York, but will it be that way when they meet on December 11th?

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 35 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds, including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Amar'e Stoudemire put in 18 points and 9 rebounds, and J.R. Smith added 17 points to the scoring sheet.

Iman Shumpert played his first game following the Torn ACL injury that he took in Game 1 of the Playoffs against Miami, and he was very rusty; 6 points on 3-of-11 shooting, and he admitted to it in the press conference following the road win.

"I have some kinks I gotta work out," Shumpert said. "My defense is back top-notch, but my offensive has some work to do following the torn ACL."

As for the Nets, Deron Williams, Marshon Brooks, and Kris Humphries were the only players worth promising games, as Williams had 21 points, Brooks had 10 points, and Humphries stuffed in 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Joe Johnson was very disappointing in his first game, 13 points, despite 9 points coming in the 4th, and he shot on 5-of-15, shooting far too bombastic. They have to rebound, which will be a good one, facing a decent Raptors team.

As for the Knicks, they battle a brutal month, of all Playoff teams the first two weeks, including the majority of their tough games coming on the road.
