The Future Has Arrived

That's what they're saying at least.

Yep. That billboard is located in the skyline of New York. And by the time I'm on the court, they'll know why.

Stat, Melo and Lin crush Heat despite LeBron's big night

Image

The Miami Heat and their big three came to MSG for the first game of the season, but they were crushed by an exciting Knicks outfit led by the big two A'mare and Melo, as well as exciting rookie guard Jeremy Lin. Lebron James had 39 points on 17/30 shoooting, while teammate Chris Bosh got a double double, 15 and 11. Carmelo Anthony and A'mare Stoudemire both combined for 57 points and led the team. Rookie point guards Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert showed promise too, with Lin posting 17 points in only 16 minutes of play, while Shumpert had a near triple-double with a stat line of 11/8/9.

In the post-game press conference, Lin expressed his joy to be in the NBA doing what he loves, and can't wait for next game. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, says he will have to find a way to even out the time at point, with both Lin and Shumpert, as well as veteran Baron Davis all getting time against the Heat. Let's see how the rotation changes come Saturday night against the Bucks.

Lin Sends Knicks To OT But Jax Comes Up Clutch

Image

A deep three-point shot from Jeremy Lin sent Saturday's game to overtime vs the Bucks, but Stephen Jackson came up clutch for the Bucks as the Knicks lost 95-107. Jackson led all comers with 31 points, scoring 12 of them in the OT period. Brandon Jennings was also big for the Bucks, with 27 points. Carmelo Anthony struggled in the 4th quarter and overtime periods, going 2-10. He finished the game with 30 points and 9 rebounds. Jeremy Lin had 15 points, including 3-5 from downtown.

One of the biggest moments of the game came in the last 10 seconds. The Knicks only had 2 seconds remaining on the shotclock, down by 3. Baron Davis, who was inbounding, tried to find Melo, but he couldn't get open. Instead the ball was thrown to Jeremy Lin who let a shot loose from about 2 feet behind the 3-point line and it rattled in, evening the scores at 90. Brandon Jennings missed his following shot, and the game headed to OT. Lin was then mysteriously subbed out for the entire overtime period, despite his heroics in the fourth quarter, which also included a rack-to-rack layup in the final minute. Post-game Lin spoke on the subbing, saying he was "dissapointed" he couldn't get some time in OT, but respected coach D'Antoni's decision. D'Antoni did not comment, but with both Toney Douglas and Baron Davis turning the ball over twice in the final quarter, maybe Lin would have been a better choice.

Player of the Week : Amare Stoudemire
Image

Amare had a great week, leading the team in scoring 3 times, and rebounding very well along with Tyson Chandler. Arguments could be made for Melo, but his collapse against the Bucks and his poor shooting percentage means it has to go to Amare. Honorable mentions to Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert.

Knicks Coast Over Pacers at The Garden

Image

15 Straight Points from Jeremy Lin in the 3rd quarter helped the Knicks roll the Pacers Saturday night 103-90. Amare Stoudemire continued on his great form with 29 points, with 11/11 free throws, and Jeremy Lin finished with 17 points, 2 steals and 2 blocks, all amassed in the first three quarters. Danny Granger was the only real threat for the Pacers, with Darren Collison shut out by Iman Shumpert and Jeremy Lin, and Roy Hibbert struggling from the field, yet they went into half time with a 3 point lead. The game looked to go down to the wire, but with 8 minjutes left in the third, Jeremy Lin checked in and took over, scoring 15 straight buckets and giving the Knicks control of the game. He was rested all of the fourth quarter, but the Knicks were rejuvenated and Melo and Amare finished of the game.

Image

Lin was once again the centre of attention in the post-game press conference. When asked if he thinks coach D'Antoni should give him the starting role over Iman Shumpert, Lin looked to Shumpert, sitting next to him, and said "Yeah, coach doesn't know what he's doing I should be getting 48 minutes a game! This Iman character is weak!". A joke of course, but maybe Lin was sending a message. We'll have to see.

Super Lintendo | 5-3 | Lin vs. D'Antoni

Lin vs. D'Antoni

Wednesday night's matchup between the Nuggets and Knicks in Denver was one of the best games of the season so far, with the Nuggets demolishing a big Knick lead and taking the unexpected win. But anyone who watched the game knows that the Knicks should have won. Not because of bad reffing, unlucky plays or even poor execution. It was the absence of point-guard sensation Jeremy Lin for the entire fourth quarter that stopped them from getting the W.

Lin was having his best game all season, with 25 points at the third-quarter break, and the Knicks with an 11-point lead, it was understandable that he might sit the start of the fourth quarter, since he played the last 10 minutes of the third (which involved him scoring 15 points and dominating the game). But when the Nuggets started making shots, and Melo and Stat couldn't answer back, it looked like time for the Taiwanese phenom to jump back in. But no. He just kept sitting on the bench. Even after a point with 4 minutes left and the Knicks' lead was at 2, Lin stood up, took off his tracksuit and looked ready to get subbed in. But he was soon sat back down, after confusion with teammate Baron Davis, who eventually played out those last four minutes at the point guard spot.

Image

Lin didn't stand up again until the final buzzer went, with the Nuggets taking a dramatic 3-point win. He left the court immediately to the lockers, not looking happy at all.

The real fireworks didn't go off until the post-game press conference. Lin has been a darling for the media in past games, but this conference was a little different. When asked why he didn't play the last quarter:

"I have no idea. I was ready to go. I was hitting shots in the third, I don't understand. No disrespect to Baron (Davis) and Iman (Shumpert), but I was the best choice for point out there. I honestly don't know why coach didn't put me in. And it's really frustrating seeing your teammates turn it over, not get out to defend, jamming up on offense. I could have won the game for us. I'm really dissapointed in coach."

This was really the first time Lin has in any way diverted from his humble, care-free personality seen so far this season. He seemed genuinely bemused at why he wasn't checked in, as was Shaq on Inside the NBA after the game.

"... I don't know what coach was thinking out there. Lin has proven to everyone he's a better choice than Shumpert and Davis at point, and he was playing awesome out there. .... I think D'Antoni needs his head checked."

I'm not much of a Jeremy Lin fan, but this looks great so far; title is very creative too. (Y) Any coach in his right mind would have played Lin in that fourth quarter, but I guess D'Antoni is never in his right mind. Tough loss.

Cheers Axel. It was pretty annoying seeing a 10 or so point lead dissapear from the virtual sidelines. I wish there was some sort of "talk to coach" option which meant you could come on whenever.

Did you create this Lin or is there a way on PC to get a real player into MyPlayer? And was this the version of him before he got the rating boost?

I downloaded this Lin from moddingway.com. He was already drafted, so that he could be on the Knicks. It is after the rating boost, which was 72 overall. Layup 86, 3PT 80, etc.
