Wizards Drop First game of the season
New Jersey Nets-106
Washington Wizards-89 The Wizards have dropped their first game of the NBA season to the New Jersey Nets, led by their rookie Marshon Brooks with 27pts. The Nets dominated the boards with both of their starting big men having double digit rebounds, and simply outmatched the smaller front court of Nene and Blatche. Terrence Williams made an impressive début for the Wizards with 15pts and 8 rebounds, while John Wall led the team with 18pts but with 7 turnovers.
The Nets made a statement on the boards in the 1st quarter, out rebounding the Wizards 15-7. With that fast start, the Nets never looked back and at times led by almost 30pts.
Dorris Lurke had a chance to speak to Flip Saunders about the game, here's what he had to say. "We got killed out there on the boards, Lopez and Humphries were too big for our guys to handle. We turned over the ball like crazy, something like 20 turnovers by the end of the game. We're going to need a much better performance to have a chance against Orlando on Saturday"
