Postby Ryan. M on Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:48 pm

Fixture:
Each team will play 82 games per season
The season will last for 24 weeks, with the rookie and all star week coming in the 13th week
Each team will play 4 games in 1 week for 13 weeks, and will play 3 games in 1 week for 10 weeks
Each week, 17 teams will play there 4 game weak, and 13 teams will play there 3 game week
Playoffs are a best of 7 games series, and each round will last 2 weeks (maximum)
Higher ranked team based on seed will play first 2 games at home, then the next 2 will be at the other team's court, then back to the higher seeds home court and back to the other court for the last game (in the playoffs)

Divisional Road trip:
Each team will have 2 divisional road trips per season. Each road trip will last 3 weeks, and each team will play 3 games per week in the period. The road trip for each division goes in these orders:
Premier:
Los Angeles Lakers -> Portland Trail Blazers -> Denver Nuggets -> Chicago Bulls -> Boston Celtics -> Orlando Magic -> Miami Heat -> Houston Rockets -> Dallas Mavericks -> San Antonio Spurs
Division A:
New York Knicks -> Atlanta Hawks -> Memphis Grizzlies -> New Orleans Hornets -> Oklahoma City Thunder -> Phoenix Suns -> Los Angeles Clippers -> Golden State Warriors -> Utah Jazz -> Cleveland Cavaliers
Division B:
Sacramento Kings -> Minnesota Timberwolves -> Milwaukee Bucks -> Indiana Pacers -> Detroit Pistons -> Toronto Raptors -> New Jersey Nets -> Philadelphia 76ers -> Washington Wizards -> Charlotte Bobcats

Premier Playoffs:
The Premier division playoffs will be following the 5-team Page-McIntyre system. As quoted from Wikipedia:
In this format, the first round matches #2 v #3 and #4 v #5, with the #1 seed receiving a bye into the second round. The 4–5 match is played to eliminate one team, while the 2–3 match is played to determine which match they will play in the second round.

In the second round, the loser of the 2–3 match plays the winner of the 4–5 match, while the winner of the 2–3 match plays the #1 seed. From this point forward, the tournament is identical to the Page playoff system.

The Page system is as follows:
In this system, the first round (sometimes called the "quarterfinals") matches #1 against #2 and #3 against #4. The winner of the 1–2 match advances directly to the final. The next round, known as the semifinal, pits the loser of the 1–2 match against the winner of the 3–4 match.

Merging them together, number 1 seed for the Page system will be the team who finishes on top, the number 2 seed will be the winner of the 2/3 series, the number 3 seed the loser of the 2/3 series and the 4th seed will be the winner of the 4/5 series

P/A, A/B Relegation/Promotion Playoffs:
The Premier/A and A/B relegation and promotion playoffs will be using the Page system. In the P/A playoff series, the number 1 seed is the team that finished 9th in the Premier Division, number 2 seed is the team that finished 10th in the Premier division, the 3rd seed is the team that finished on top of Division A and the number 4 seed is the team who finished 2nd in Division A. The same system is used for the A/B playoffs.

THIS RELEGATION/PROMOTION PLAYOFF SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE AND RELEGATE DESERVING TEAMS BASED ON HOW WELL THEY FARE AGAINST EACH OTHER, AND ISN'T AS SOLELY BASED ON HOW WELL THEY DID IN THEIR RESPECTIVE DIVISIONS

NBA DIVIDED BY DECISION

New York, NJ (AP) - In what was a surprising, and nevertheless shocking decision by the NBA commissioner, David Stern, it was announced that the NBA will be changing a few things. The location based divisional system will be removed, and a relegation/promotion league system will be rolled out for the 2009-'10 season. Stern announced the decision today in a press conference held by the National Basketball Association, stating that the decision "is for the better, not the worse." The division lists were also released today, and are as following:

Premier:
Los Angeles Lakers
Miami Heat
San Antonio Spurs
Chicago Bulls
Boston Celtics
Orlando Magic
Houston Rockets
Portland Trail Blazers
Denver Nuggets
Dallas Mavericks

Division A:
Oklahoma City Thunder
New Orleans Hornets
Memphis Grizzlies
New York Knicks
Los Angeles Clippers
Golden State Warriors
Phoenix Suns
Atlanta Hawks
Utah Jazz
Cleveland Cavaliers

Division B:
Philadelphia 76ers
Milwaukee Bucks
Sacramento Kings
Indiana Pacers
New Jersey Nets
Washington Wizards
Minnesota Timberwolves
Charlotte Bobcats
Detroit Pistons
Toronto Raptors

The commissioner also stated that "the game will stay the same, it's just how do govern it that will change." More information will be released later, as not all of the new system has been planned yet.

Now for some schedule information!

So far I have done the first half of the road trips for the Premier Division (go all the way back to October, 2010)

Premier Division

I will somehow work the All-Star week into this, and will get the rest of the road trips done very soon! :)
